  • In todays video we are looking at 3 different methods of adding Eufy Cameras into Home Assistant. Specifically we are looking at RTSP, The Eufy MQTT Bridge Addon and the Eufy Security integration. Using these methods can allow you to access information from your Eufy cameras and doorbells. You can then use this in your automations.
    Some of these methods are a work in progress but they are being actively developed.
    THINGS IM NOT COVERING IN THIS VIDEO
    - MQTT Broker Setup
    - WebRTC Camera Setup
    - Setup of Eufy Security
    This video is aimed at being more of an incite into the available options that a full blown tutorial.
    If you want an in depth tutorial for a set method then let me know!

    I’m using the mqtt bridge option which works perfectly. I have the wireless doorbell and don’t run it as a security camera so not to run the battery down. In this mode I get 180 days. The last event image is great for this power saving mode. One thing I didn’t realise was that even if you don’t record video on the doorbell you need a sdcard in the ringer for the last event image to work.

    Very informative and helpful. I'm wondering if you (or anyone else) has tried this with the Eufy Floodlight Cam? It's a great camera incorporating a PT camera, flood lights etc and provides a strong WiFi connection. My problem is that while I can establish an RTSP connection as you describe (webRTC) the camera only transmits intermittently and only occasionally "wakes-up" when I try ti view it in a HA dashboard. It's a great camera and if you get an opportunity I know I would love to see if you can make it work; especially with all it's bells and whistles related to the flood light controls.

    • @MarkWattTech
      @MarkWattTech  Год назад

      Heya :)
      Glad you found it helpful. I personally use both the floodlight and the PTZ floodlight. The eufy integration still isn’t great and live streams that aren’t native rtsp are still very janky and temperamental. There is still work being done in it though and it’s community made.
      One if the main issues is the stream limits eufy enforces (I don’t think theres a way round this). Once the stream hits its time out it cuts off and doesn’t always refresh or come back in HA.
      It’s a shame eufy don’t just create one.

    • @ronaldsokoloff6089
      @ronaldsokoloff6089 Год назад

      @@MarkWattTech Strangely, the RTSP stream to HA is not reactivated during detection events. Eufy instructions include NAS connection via RTSP so, presumably, there is some sort of solution. Also, the NAS instructions show an option for 'continuous' video rather than only 'events'. I haven't tried an NAS on my HA installation but I am hopeful that there will be something in that setup that magically fixes the problem.

    • @MarkWattTech

      Rtsp is a local stream but the other methods using the eufy bridge etc are still contacting eufys services. Which is why the setup is a little clunky.

    Hi, I like the video though they are a bit quick. Try slowing down a little!
    I also have a question. I’m running 4 Eufy 2 Pro cams and have the security app running. Also I can see the cams in HomeKit.
    Now I’m trying to find a way to show the live image of the front door on a display as soon as it detects motion. Preferably on an iPad.
    The live image is accessible through HomeKit but it drains the battery of the camera fast, so it only needs to be displayed when the camera is triggered.
    Anyone know a way to do that?

    Eufy does NOT have a powerful outdoor sirene or a flash light. Burglars are mainly startled by a powerful siren, which the Eufy system cannot offer! Eufy does have a beeper (alarm) on the homebase and the camera, but with that you tell the burglar exactly where the camera and the Eufy homebase are. If he also takes it with him, then you have nothing because the video images are stored on the homebase! And the beeping sound from the camera or the Eufy homebase is far from powerful. A pitty for Eufy security system and a missed opportunity.

    I wish you had shown how to follow the horrible instructions from the 3rd option, Eufy Security, because it's the most complicated of the 3 options and allegedly the best integrated, but does a poor job at explaining clearly the steps.
