No other movie captures the feeling of being a kid in the 70s like Bad News Bears. For that reason, I was almost hypnotized by how real it felt as a child. I remember staring at the team photo on the back of the book, fascinated by how much it looked like my own team photo. I guess it was the first time a movie spoke directly to me without being childish or condescending.
OK. Admittedly, up until today, I watched this move once in my life, decades ago. I just re-watched the film, with fresh eyes, as I found it free on Pluto TV. This brought me back to my childhood, growing up in the '70's, and being a horrible baseball player (I was Ogilvie). Really appreciated the grit and fortitude of this movie. Will be searching for my own Blu-Ray copy to add to my personal collection.
It is definitely one of my favorites of all time. It's my second favorite baseball movie next to The Natural, but the comedy is priceless. Matthau is one of my all time favorites.
It's ironic that Walter Matthau played an incredible villain in the movie The Kentuckian with the Dad of the writer of this film Burt Lancaster in 1955. Maybe there's a relationship? Great Western by the way.
I wish you got Gunnar Hansen to do Trailer from Hell, he's great when it comes to talkin about classic movies, he's gone now but would have been nice if he could do this, he had a long conversation about Godzilla, he was a real movie buff
One of the best movies of the 70s. It really captures kids in that era, i was 12 years old when this came out and really related to it.

When Vic Morrow hits the kid for throwing a brush back pitch, you could hear a pin drop at Edwards 1-2-3 Cinemas in El Toro, CA in the summer of '76.
I love this woman. Best commentary I've ever heard on what makes BNB a terrific movie.
Loved this movie from my home town
Chatsworth . CA
I played in these streets and parks as a kids and still do .
I would recommend The Bad News Bears be released as a Criterion Collection title.
Yes I'm serious. It's that good.
+GreatGarloo Agreed. It's almost a forgotten classic.
Agreed 2019
I agree, but with this new Paramount Presents line, maybe the studio will finally give this movie the home video release it deserves.
The older I get the more I love this film
This is one of those movies you can watch over and over again.
It's truly a beautiful film. It's interesting how it changes and feels different as I get older.

This movie is always on my top 10 list.
Almost documentary in its style and content - I was ten when this first came out and it was SO real.
When we say "it's our favorite movie of all time", from my generation, we mean it. Even though we know there are so many others. It just makes sense.
This movie is beyond perfect. It’s a wonder. Every scene with Matthau and Tatum O’Neil is heartbreaking.
"Wait til NEXT year!" A true American CLASSIC!!!
It is definitely one of my favorites of all time. It's my second favorite baseball movie next to The Natural, but the comedy is priceless. Matthau is one of my all time favorites.
I love that film!
Straight from the heart. Thanks for an enlightening and enjoyable TFH.
How is this movie not on blu-ray?!
I like this review as much as I like the film. Beautifully encapsulates what's so great about this film.
I wish I could 'like' this video more than once.
I love your comments. I totally agree. It's my favorite movie of all time
Walter says to Loopis You didn’t come into this life to sit on a dugout bench did you.

I always argue that this is the best baseball movie of all time, and its should be in anyone's top 10.
I could listen to hear read the phone book. If they still printed them..
I was 12 when the movie came out. Everyone that age could relate to the movie.
This and SLAP SHOT are the greatest sports movies ever made.
+RolandDeschain1 AMEN!!!
+RolandDeschain1 As a person who has always hated sports, you have just named the only two sports films that I absolutely love!
Happy 39th, Jessica
Jessica approves
It is ok...but Caddyshack is the best sports movie of all time followed closely by Bull Durham.
Slap Shot is a classic
This movie is really authentic a little stilted at times but so what
Couldn't agre6 more.
A GREAT movie that couldn't be made in this age of political correctness, nanny state regulations and helicopter parents.
The remake....complete and utter GARBAGE!
More like Bad News Bangs. I love this movie, I love Jessica Bendinger's movies, but that hair....no.
Covertly subversive !?!?
