Technical background: when you use a Dynamic Caption to transcribe a media, it transcribes the entire media, not just the part that that's on the timeline. The downside is that you cannot split a media and only transcribe a part of it...the upside is that if you fix the transcript, the transcript is fixed across your entire timeline no matter how many splits or edits you do.
(So in this instance it seemed to take a long time for a short clip, but the reason was that it transcribed the entire thing, not just the part that was shown.)

This is correct; in the tests we have done internally (with decently fast computers) the transcription time is generally 10-20x real-time, so for a clip that is 60 seconds in length, typical transcription time should be in the 5-10 second range. As posted above though, if you take a 60-second clip and trim it down to 6 seconds on the timeline, Camtasia will still transcribe the full 60-second clip. If you have much longer clips (i.e. 10+ minutes) and don't want to wait for the full clip to be transcribed, you may want to export smaller sections of the clip and re-import those to transcribe.

Very cool video, Essetino. Fun fact: I've been using Camtasia since 2005!! Not as extensively as you though. I'm glad I found your channel. These Camtasia tutorials are brilliant. I see I need to watch a few to pick up some new-to-me skills and workflows. I'm still on 2022 - which I'm perfectly fine with, but didn't know there were auto captions in 2024. Thanks for this.
