Here are 15 TypeRacer texts that I completed at 200 WPM or above using Plover Steno. These were not live races; instead, they were short and very easy texts that I practiced a number of times in a row. Hope you enjoy, and feel free to ask any questions you have about Plover!

okay
So that explains how people have over 200 WPM in Type racer. All this time I thought I was just slow with my 140
"slow"
No, many people have scored far above 200 in tr without steno
@@redalien75 I think 216 is the world record, so perhaps not far above, but definitely above.
@@simonholmqvist8017 216 is not the world record, and when I say far above, I mean it, on a short quote, people have scored above 400, and someone even scored 250 on a 7 liner
@@redalien75 Please give me a link of someone doing that.
short texts :(
was he typing ? I thought the was taking jumps on keyboard.
Have you lost any QWERTY ability through learning steno?
Ohh that taskbar it hurts
Why the glasses?
to block blue light. It is really harmful for the retina of the eyes, or he may be using them just not to mess up his sleep schedule
how do you get so short quotes?
I went to Typeracerdata.com , clicked on the Texts tab, and picked out the easiest texts based on the site's difficulty rating. Normally when I'm on Typeracer, I race live on randomly selected texts, but I wanted to try something different this time. Thanks for watching!
Ew, you use the "paper" paper type instead of "raw"?
But, cool vid...
Hmm that's true. Force of habit I guess. Maybe I'll try switching to raw :)
Are you sure it's OK?
Cool glasses 🕶️
Hello Kenneth...how you are getting that virtual keyboard? Every button you press gets reflected through that keyboard onscreen. Is it some kind of application?whats the name of it?
Hello Sagar, thanks for watching! The program I use is called NohBoard. You can get it for free here: obsproject.com/forum/resources/nohboard.44/
Hello Kenneth, thanks for this one.☺
Hello Kenneth, I am facing another challenge with this one which I need your help with. I have downloaded nohboard but when activating plover and trying to write something on notepad then nohboard is not working and when nohboard is working then plover stops working...whats happening here?????? Am I missing something with settings or configuaration? Could you help?😢😢😢
Another strange thing happening. Every time I am using a plover stroke and hitting spacebar only then the stroke is getting displayed but without hitting spacebar a stroke is not coming automatically...what is happening? And plover is not visible in control panel even when it is installed???
Hmm that's pretty strange, as usually you don't press the space bar at all in Plover. Do you have arpeggiating turned on? Open up the Plover window (by clicking on the green icon), click "configure," select the machine tab, hit "configure" to the right of "stenotype machine," and make sure that Arpeggiate is off. Also do you have a NKRO keyboard?
If this doesn't work, I would ask in the Plover Discord-there are a number of people there who should be able to help. discordapp.com/invite/0lQde43a6dGmAMp2
how to type fast? just type [HROPBLG\EUB] if you wanna type [logic]
Why not go into court reporting or tv captioning?
Well, I'm certainly not fast enough for those fields! These were easy texts that I practiced a lot; my regular speed is much lower. But because Plover can be applied in so many areas, I already use it in my current work :)
Kenneth Burchfiel I'm currently speed building and going into captioning. I'm around 120 wpm. Looks like Plover is similar to most theories and you didn't have to pay thousands to learn. I mean if you can transition to a steno machine, you would already be considered more than halfway through school. Unless your current career is more lucrative.
@@wott7 Yeah the cost savings of Plover can't be beat! You can even use it with many steno machines. You may want to look at it as a way to incorporate steno into your everyday computer use (if you haven't already). I love my current work and wouldn't want to transition to steno as a career, but I have definitely enjoyed the learning process!
@@wott7 Yeah its theory is a spin-off from StenEd. I'll also mention that you can buy the Phoenix theory books for under $200 and they'll email you the dictionary file. Magnum is more expensive, but even that is I think like $400 for the main materials. Official schooling is more expensive, but even the pro steno theories aren't THAT expensive if you're learning on your own.
Do you have your dictionary in an Excel spreadsheet?
You can find my .json dictionary within the Github page for ROPE, which is located at github.com/kburchfiel/rope . Thanks for watching!
Is this a cheat
No, it's Plover, an open-source stenotype program :)
Kenneth Burchfiel does this work on the typing test on TypeRacer?
@@s6sy Of course!
Kenneth Burchfiel I cant find any videos on it
