- The Gypsy Baron is an operetta in three acts by Johann Strauss II which premiered at the Theater an der Wien on 24 October 1885. Its libretto was by the author Ignaz Schnitzer and in turn was based on Sáffi by Mór Jókai.

Johan Strauss is my favorite classical composer. Back in the early 1970's my dad ordered a three 8-track set of Strauss' work from Reader's Digest. I fell in love with the music of the 'Waltz King'. I'm an avowed and vehement fan of rock, hard rock and heavy metal but I've always had a special place in my old black heart for JS Jr.

its no old classical music, but try out "nyfaedd von" which is an interlude to one of heaven shall burns songs, but composed by olafur arnalds. you probably also know mozarts requiem lacrimosa. samuel barber adagio for strings, brahms hungarian dance nr 5. you might also like brad mehldau "paranoid android" which is a jazz cover from radiohead. then theres also the band opeth with the song "coil", or this taiwanses folk song /watch?v=c32TwL2jHWc . try out what you like^^
