I've been riding this one all week. It's a lot of fun and very comfortable. I rode 20 miles today and I feel ready to ride again already. It's fast and turns heads. I like that it can transition from pavement to rocky paths with no hiccups.
I used to love this one! It's really versatile and especially a fun to ride on gravel or light single track. I have traded it for Roubaix 2021 which was my grail bike, but I still miss Sirrus X4.0 sometimes.
Is that Future-shock all gimmick? To be honest…. I wish I could get this package without the proprietary wear item that likely won’t be around in 5-10 years…. turning my $2,200 CAD bike into a paperweight
I have a sirrus X2 and i love it. The bike is explosive like a bmx and if you can put the power through its an animal on road and dirt paths. I have a sirrus 3 that i love and yes is faster, but the X series can be ridden in more places without losing its speed or handling. I crush out 25-30 miles on mine regulary. I will always have an X series in my lineup.
I took a serious look at the Sirrus line a few weeks back when shopping for a light fitness bike. I liked it but went with a Verve 3 because it had a more upright position, still liking this specialized bike 😀.
Do you still have the bike? How did the suspension hold up in the long-term? I had a Koga F3 which had awful rattling 'feathershock' suspension between frame and fork with a lot of play in it. So I'm quite interested in Specialized's turn on integrated suspension. Thanks!
@@MekKaiver I don't have it. However during my ownership it was very solid. I had put a new futureshock in it though. The guy before me had several thousand miles on it and apparently something happened to it. No doubt it will wear out at some point but it seems pretty solid and the ride was very very good

The Sirrus X4.0 it seem So underrated bike in compare. Cause most of Websites promoting Brands that get well paid for. I have this Bike for a while also in less 40 days complete 1200 M no problems also no issues all I did change the Future Shock to Blue spring = lighter helps a lot cause Im 130lb and its working pretty awesome. For me the greatest thing abandon Dropbars 10y ago =Pain & discomforts!
I am using Sirrus Elite 2012. It's been 11 years. I didn't have any problems. Only the hub of the rear wheel has been changed. Incredibly comfortable and I love this machine
Thanks for the great review! Bummer tires only up to 42mm will fit; to the extent this is a gravel bike, it seems like it should be designed to fit slightly wider tires. Dang it!
Hey James, I agree with a lot of the points you are making. I was leaning towards the Trek FX4 Sport and now have my eye on the Specialized Sirrus X 4.0. It's not a full carbon, but the price point is way more appealing. Would you recommend one over the other?
Yes - I went with the Sirrus X 4.0 in white mountain and am very happy with it, esp at the price point in comparison to the FX4. It has a bit more of a rugged look, which I like, and I’ve received many compliments. I’ve always been a huge supporter of Trek and still am. Although I’m very happy I purchased the Specialized.

Ended up buying the Trek Dual Sport 3 Gen 5 in crimson yesterday after test riding it and used the extra money (savings compared to FX4) to buy a new bike carrier, kickstand and higher stem. Hopefully I will be happy with it, time will tell.
I just tried the Sirrus x4 in a local shop. Very good bike , I’ll buy it soon. I was going to buy trek fx3 but I also tried it and is not to the level of Sirrus 4.
@Mint3DP It is a bit upright - similar to a mountain bike feel. Although the ride is very smooth. I have been very happy with the overall performance. I appreciate the hybrid/fitness bike feel as it allows more versatility.
For 95% road use and a budget up to $1,500, and most likely my last bike since I’m 64, I want a great 5 to 10-mile flat bar bike to replace a 23-year old heavy full suspension MTB. What flat bar bike would you recommend? (My non-Trek local bike shop said a 2023 Sirrus X 4.0 on sale for $1,300, but I’m not sure of the SRAM NX Rear Derailleur quality). Naturally, the local Trek store said to buy the FX 3 Disc or DS 3. Any other brand or model for up to $1,500?

I've read other reviews on this and its mixed. A lot of people say it has poor performance for the price while others swear by it. So I don't know anymore. My gut tells me it's a comfortable, lightweight bike. How can this bad? Sounds like the people that hate this bike are pros. I am not.
Nice video. I am 6ft tall with 33" inseam. I am at the end of large and start of extra large. What would be better? The stand over on the large is 31.9" and the XL is 32.7. Thanks.
How fast if u are riding hard will the bike average? I have two sirrus ones 15 ones 18 due to wheels but ive never ridden an X and am interested in the single drive train and thicker tires
There was a small youtube cycling channel that expressed his annoyance that he couldn't get futureshock parts and they were very expensive and the channel was removed. As ever any proprietary technology is a cashcow for the company that exclusively supplies parts and can make a product economically unviable in the long term due to excessive pricing or simply unusable because of lack of parts availability. I won't say anymore than that as clearly Specialized have quite an aggressive legal department to protect their commercial interests.
Lack of future shock parts is more likely a dealer support and/or supply chain issue at the moment. Specialized does sell parts aftermarket through an authorized dealer. There are also a few ways to remove the future shock and install a traditional fork in the future if you need/want to. The aftermarket always finds a way, especially with the volume of future shock bikes that have been sold.
I have the 2021 X4.0 model and it's been great for commuting. I see they went to sram for the drive train. Mine is shimano deore. I like the deore shifter better as the down shift is push or pull. Not sure if sram nx has the same functionality. I know they're budget, but I love the mt200 shimano brakes. Glad they kept those. I cut the bar, swapped the grips and seat, but the bridge saddle is my 2nd favorite seat. I recently bought some carbon wheels for it to go tubeless. Also think you can squeeze 45mm or even 47mm tires into the frame to make it more gravel worthy. Bummer they dropped the full carbon versions. My next bike will be full carbon. Really likeing the diverge, but the price difference for drop bar bikes vs comparable flat bar bikes is big. Gotta save up.
@@wixy369 yes I have…I really don’t have anything to compare it against, but I think it will equal a diverge, because it has the same tires, and headset, plus the wider flat bars will give you better control.
@@wixy369 I've done a little bit on nearby canal banks. It does pretty good depending on how loose the surface is and tire width. The wider flat bar does help with stability and the future shock is a BIG help in my opinion.

Andy, I was looking at this bike for my wife, who is 5' 2" tall. The bike is available in a lot of different sizes, from XS to XL. She fit nicely on the small (S) version of the bike. You could get an even smaller version if you wanted. I recommend you visit a local bike shop and have them size it and adjust it for you.

Did those also get the price hike. Specialized is out of control. The fuse I was looking at is now $3000! Frankly I much rather buy a Santa Cruz or canyon on principle alone.
@@michaeldennis2630 Santa Cruz is not cheap but I suppose you could justify the price by looking at the components and build quality. And Canyon is definitely the way to go for best value.
Specialized are great bikes but why oh why do they have to release them in BORING colours , there's black and light grey which blend in with road tarmac , and a silver and clay colour and maroon ! The only decent colour is the arctic blue (a very light blue) and a Turquoise colour Why dont they make a vibrant green or yellow or orange, electric blue, poppy red, lemon yellow, burnt orange ,raspberry colour , the list is endless, but not Boring silver,grey,black !

Is the geometry in sirrus x much more relaxed than regular sirrus? What is the avg speed difference ?
@@JitinMisra yes it is more upright. Its the same frame as the regular sirrus but with a shorter stem and higher handlebars.

I have the turbo vado sl and it looks just like this bike , just electric and it rides great on trails, gravel and the road

I have that Bridge saddle on my gravel bike and my butt likes it. It is pretty comfy. Also was cheap on sale.

Question: with modern technology why can't manufacturers develop a fork with small suspension/absorption between top of fork & head tube?
You don't really want that as it would reduce forward momentum. That is essentially why they designed this to have suspension above the headtube.

Its not the highest spec sirrus that is the Sirrus X 5.0 not the 4.0

Those are the standard Sirrus. They have a different frame and ethos. All Sirrus are 2x, and all Sirrus X are 1x
