LOVE that you're featuring the P-Series! I have nine of them.....from the pre-recall P85 all the way to the second generation P95....in 9mm, .40S&W, and .45ACP. They're ALL great shooters....ALL super reliable....and ALL beautiful in my eyes!------Keep up the awesome content!
I have always wanted a P89! Couldn’t afford one back in the day . They were the hot ticket. I just found a never fired P89 DC. In the box hard case and owners manual! I mine it new like it was in a time capsule I said it’s going get used and I still have not brought myself to shoot it yet!
I have one I bought new in 1999 and still haven’t put a round through it. I have 2 or 3 handguns that I haven’t fired yet. I do like the look and feel of it. I did put some aluminum grips on it with a flame on it. It is a nice feel and looks great.
I have a p85 and it's a beast. Extremely reliable. You can beat the living hell out of it and it's going to go bang everytime. Many things could of been done better but for what it is it is a keeper.
Still ha e my P89DC and will never get rid of it. If you can shoot accurately with it and you can you can shoot anything. I carry it from time to time. Built like a tank and extremely reliable. I have a red dot on mine and only had one failure with the extractor. still to this day an exalent firearm
The P89 DC is better because the safety lever has more tension so you don't hit it by accident causing it not to work when racking the slide, not that I do that anyway, that's what the slide release is for. But you don't have to worry about the safety, it drops the hammer and your double action is your safety.
I think ruger gets pigeon holed into just rimfires (10/22 and the Mk series) but their center fire semi autos have actually been pretty good. Especially in recent years. Love the content!
I LITERALLY said this was a rugged, high quality firearm, and if you like it, then by all means, shoot it and enjoy it. HOWEVER the point I was making is that as a military sidearm (in all weather conditions including rain) the gun is difficult to use for a novice or for someone with small hands. Just because a firearm is not for a beginner, does not mean it's not any good at all. You are taking bits of the video out of context.
You need the P-89 DC forget about that safety! I carry mine on occasions locked and loaded in a paddle holster...you unholster and shoot! The paddle holster covers the trigger guard. If you press the decocker...it's back to safe! It is much easier and practical than this version of the P-89. I changed the original factory grips, I put hogue rubber grips...love them! They made it look much better, feel great too! Mine is a tack driver!
I go from gun show to gun show looking for ruger p series. Most reliable handgun made in US in past 40 years. I own 3 ruger p89 and I get that you don’t like shooting it I can’t shoot a glock 43x to save my life but I can shoot a 17,19 so easily but I will defend a ruger p89 as my 98 pound fiancée can literally mag dump it accurately she has shot 3,000$ single stack and double stack 1911 format and didn’t like em.
Heavy, solid and stable.

@paul42171 I definitely will be doing another video on it. It has a very interesting history!

Still have my P89,P90 and P95 all very durable and reliable firearms.
I've heard they're tough. My granddad and Dad have both had p89s since the 80s

Just shot the P89 yesterday. Extremely similar in function to the Beretta M9/92fs. Great gun.
I'm definitely going to do a follow up video, I didn't realize how big a fan base the old Ruger has.
You can pick these up used for $150 to $200 and they still work great. What is not to like?
My automatic firearm opinion begins and ends with what i was issued in the Corps: M1911-A1. Since then, I carry revolvers
Okay, pog!
Cool video, more honest than others on YT. Thanks man.
@donhula5298 thank you!

My first .45 was p97.
Great weapon.
Tea cup hold ?
fair review, reckon ruger owners have learnt to master it and will ignore the ergonomic issues you've pointed out
True true. That being said I think the look of the gun is very cool, I would definitely have to practice with it a lot more and get used to it though.
Absolutely my go to dependable handgun. Never Fails. Never.
They are very cool and dependable. Sadly, I just can't seem to shoot well with it, it just doesn't fit me for whatever reason
@@indianhenoutdoors7764 A few yrs back I purchased a Glock, sold it, not for me. Know the feeling. The Ruger is just so damn dependable.

This is the de-cocker model
Mine has run flawless for years. Never a issue but I think the trigger sucks.
You just do not know what you are taking about, excellent fire arm build as a tank.
Yeah, tanks aren't very comfortable either
We shouldn't let idiots have guns.

Turned the video off 7 seconds into it after, "aging, Browning 1911." Wha?
More research, you have your facts wrong concerning the military trials.
There will be a revisit video. I realized I misspoke after the fact
Very poor evaluation of an excellent gun due to ignorance.

Yikes
