    1st time watching this, what a great video, myself and my partner have watched this and we both agree that a powerful knee strike is going to drop your attacker, im glad she watched this as shes now very confident in being able to defend herself, and weve already practiced her moves including the knee to the groin.

    Nicole, question. Did you learn all these combat moves by serving in the Marine Corps? And here's a tip you can tell your female students. When delivering a knee to the groin, make believe you're trying to bring your knee to the ceiling. Whenever I give a woman this tip, I warn her that her attacker may vomit on her before hitting the ground, because she's striking through her target. But anyway, did you join the Marine Corps and learn all these combat moves?

  • @mattlyons8818
    @mattlyons8818 Год назад +3

    You mentioned that this technique can be effective regardless of an attacker's gender - but is there a big variability in the effectiveness of the technique on individuals? For example my sister can tolerate being hit in the groin without much effect where as on me even a fairly light impact to my groin could be highly effective.

    • @Nicole_Snell
      @Nicole_Snell  Год назад +3

      Each person has a different pain threshold. If a particular strike doesn't provide you the space to get to safety, you strike another target! Eyes, throat, nose, sternum, etc. There's almost always going to be more than one target available!

    • @mattlyons8818
      @mattlyons8818 Год назад +2

      @@Nicole_Snell Thanks for the advice. Personally I'm even more pain-sensitive in my groin (testis specifically) than the other self defense targets, but I appreciate that others could have a different experience. Do you think going for multiple targets on the attackers body in succession is a good idea or just one strike and run?

    • @Nicole_Snell
      @Nicole_Snell  Год назад +3

      @@mattlyons8818 I think you should strike whatever targets you need to that allows you to get to safety. It could be one strike, it could be multiple strikes. Every situation will be different.

  • @ooolj5993
    @ooolj5993 Год назад +4

    Another fantastic video! I am glad you mentioned the strike in this series. Many people attempt to make the argument that the groin kick should not be used because it could lead to permanently damaging a teste, infertility, and in some severe cases even death. But someone who chooses to attack women or anyone in general are deserving of some of those consequences for attempting to cause physical harm. For you being someone who could probably literally “break someone’s balls” with one snap kick, do you believe that the strike should be used no matter the consequence for self defense?

    • @Nicole_Snell
      @Nicole_Snell  Год назад +3

      Thank you! I believe that your life is worth fighting for, and as such, that you do what you have to in order to get to safety and protect yourself. I'm not a legal expert, so this type of question about the consequences of self-defense should be answered by someone with an expertise in legal matters.

    • @lovervights
      @lovervights 8 месяцев назад

      Of course! You're trying to save your life! Your attacker isn't worried about hurting you, let alone traumatizing your mind to the point where you'll have to see a therapist for the rest of your life. Yes, if saving your life means taking away his ability to have kids, use it. Make sure you strike THROUGH the target. Act like you're trying to bring your knee to the ceiling. But let me warn you. Kneeing a guy in the groin this way, he may throw up on you before he hits the ground. You may even cause him to lose cautiousness.

  • @Jack-ns9sz

    Isn't the natural reaction of the man getting kneed in the groin going to result in his head colliding with the person defending themself, possibly knocking them out, when the man doubles over?

    • @Nicole_Snell
      @Nicole_Snell  Год назад +2

      That's why you keep your hands up to protect your face at all times. :) Or if you've grabbed ahold of the attacker and are very close (like I am in the video), there is less chance of someone's head colliding with yours if they fall forward.

    • @Jack-ns9sz
      @Jack-ns9sz Год назад +1

      @@Nicole_Snell Ah okay. Thanks for your answer. I watched it again and did notice that you did have your hands grabbing ahold tightly.
      I've seen some other videos where the grip was way too loose or no hands up and it always seemed a bit risky to be so close to someone who likely going to be falling forward after you've delivered the knee.

      Mandy, I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to you in college. Thank you for your courage for sharing that with me here. I hope you know that it wasn't your fault. To address your question, the body part we are targeting with a knee strike or snap kick, are the testicles (if the attacker is a man.) The testicles are more sensitive than the penis and are available with an "up and under" strike regardless if the attacker has an erection.

    • @Nicole_Snell
      @Nicole_Snell  Год назад +6

      Yes, up and under is to target the testicles of a man, or the vulva of a woman. Strikes that go underneath and up target those sensitive areas to disable the person as quickly as possible.

      @@Nicole_Snell also a great technique to by pass a protective cup. Most cups are flat and dont tuck under the testes so if you kick low and under you can get the edge of the cup to crush the testicles. Always find it hilarious using a protective device to still end up hurting them lol used this a few times in TKD class.

    • @jenniesmith16
      @jenniesmith16 Год назад +7

      @@Nicole_Snell Yes I have and I couldn't agree more!! In tae kwon do class we do mandatory cup checks on all boys and men by either us tapping on their groin or them knocking on it to show they are wearing it before any sparring matches. No cup no match because we know a unprotected groin shot could lead to hospital visit.
      But even with the cup I have seen men drop from my kicks easily. One of the older ladies in my class taught me the pull method where you use your foot to lift the cup out of place then kick the groin, that can cause major damage to the testicles if a cup is out of place or the edge resting on the testicle. But even just straight kicks to the cup fully properly placed still can drop just about all men. Some guys in class wear double cups but they are bulky and uncomfortable for them limiting movement
