Great in depth breakdown with options to suit everyone. This is elite! Printing a small satchel sticker sometimes works for dvd players also 😂
Haha only if you live in Ballarat lol 😂 Thanks mate thought it was about time we did an updated video on it after testing a few options over the last 3 months.
Great info thanks guys- don’t forget to take your My Post Business barcode into the post office when buying the prepaid envelopes (if you buy there) as the cost will contribute to your spend and help with discount
Ohh yes awesome tip. We usually order ours all online so forget to mention.
Absolute perfect video on this! I will now direct all questions I get about shipping DVDs right here. Well done legends 🤘
Thanks mate glad we have the dvd kings approval on this one 🙏
Great & easy to follow guide guys. The one cheap postage method that people overlook & I have had most success with is the Australia Post prepaid untracked envelopes. You have to buy in bulk of at least 50 but you save min 0.55 cents + the cost of the envelope when the weight of the large letter is over 125g. It works out at $3.05 instead of $3.60. You are also allowed to put up to a max of 500g in weight meaning multiple dvd sets, heavier books can go in there too which can save you up to $3+ on a postage when the weight goes over 250g, it still has to be less than 20mm width. Finally they have no expiry so when there is a price rise, stock up and you can maintain the same cost of postage for longer. Cheers guys! 🙃
Ohh nice one yes that does make sense on the large untracked letter. Never really considered that. Thanks for the hot tip and the support 🙏
I buy my $1.20 stamps for 85-95 cents each buying in bulk on eBay. Then I buy padded mailers for 22 cents each, because buyers don't like dvds sent unprotected in paper envelopes.
With tracked things, I always put a layer of bubble wrap before putting it in the envelope. Buyers like padding.
@@emusaurus yea I’ve heard about these cheaper stamps on eBay I’ve always wonder how that works.
Whaaa cheaper stamps are a thing? How does that work? Please tell us more 😮
@@emusaurus I'm with you.... I will never send a DVD without some form of padding.
Thanks! The registered envelope one is the best. I do lots of hassle from the AusPost counters, so I buy them first and lodge in the box later.
Love it great breakdown too as someone that is in a different wheelhouse its great to learn new things
Thanks mate always nice to see what everyone else is up to.
Great video! You can still use the my post business at the post office. You just scan your QR code when you get there. Main thing I recommend is to keep an eye on the scale if it’s over 500g then they need to scan the bag first for it to go through as flat rate.
Awesome tip Amanda thanks for that 🙏
Awesome video guys! I personally took value from the tip on the small padded envelopes as a small satchel, will have to keep that in mind 😊 Also, anyone whos after a thermal printer, after having done a bit of research - there are a few other options for thermal printers outside of the Dymo family, that do take generic labels (and eco friendly ones too) that are decent little thermal printers 👍
Thanks Matt ohh that’s awesome which ones have you been looking at I know brother have one that seems okay?
Thanks for this! Talk about perfect timing! I have a few blurays and 4ks to offload.
No worries at all, hope it is useful 🙏
Brilliant, thanks for the vid. The other bonus with a thermal printed label is its water proof. No ink that coud run.
Finally tracked down a decent priced 4XL i can pick up on monday. Yay 😊
Oh that’s awesome they are hard to find around now. Hope it speeds up the process for ya 🙏
@@2AussieThrifters im only a PT reseller (work full time) so time saving is key 👍
@@Media_Madman absolutely it all helps especially when your working full time.
Thanks great video I still remember your first carport one on packing was soo good lol helpful plus ! I do the small padded mailer too and generic medium. Protects and gives more room . I have big issue with boxes between med and large ahh I cut make my own many times but it takes forever so I may need to go to bunnings more often ! Have a great week!
Haha ohh the old carport shopping video with the heavy rain such a poor quality vid but a lot of important info 🙏
Registered envelopes don't allow rigid items. If it goes missing your not covered, and they may even return to sender on you.
I know this because it happened to me. Look up their TOS it's in there.
Yea I definitely wouldn’t be sending of value in those. We generally don’t use them at all, but they are usedz
@@2AussieThrifters rigid items stop the machine, it's meant for letters, they will return to sender.
That's what I was told, but I managed to successfully do it 3 times before I had any trouble, making a claim I discovered their loophole and why it's for letters only.
I did get the item back as return to sender.
@@PaulJamesMuldoonGYST that’s interesting i haven’t heard many people having issues was it because it was over 20mm thick?
I’ve sent thousands of dvds in registered envelopes and claimed missing items and been paid.
@@2AussieThrifters no computer ram sticks.
Didn't get flagged the first 3/4 times but when the tracking fell off the map and I made a claim. Description blah blah we all know the deal about lost item claims. Claim denied once I said registered envelope. Due to a rigid item.
Read Australia Post's TOS about it, it's in there. Luckily they returned to sender, even though no one knew where it was while I was making the claim, it did come back to me.
Some great info and tips there 😀👍🏽
Thanks you hopefully it helps 🙏
eBay are 'penalising' folk for not using tracking on items, so now I send dvds using one of the tracked envelopes - dependent if it's more than 2cm thick, as they won't process it if it's wider than that... which is usually complete set dvds etc. I'll then use a small box or satchel, and also do this if it's an item over $25 - especially for more expensive dvds. I also use the bubble-wrap insert to protect the discs + wrapping the complete lot in bubble wrap to avoid damage and possible return claims.
Yea absolutely that’s exact why we went to the fully tracked model and aimed for a $30 asp. I think the best way to go about it.
Ebay only penalise if you list it as tracked postage and then send without tracking.
Great info guys 😊🤓
Thanks Lisa
Hi, can you advise how to send DVDs overseas? What postage service do you use and how much do you charge? Thanks
We use my lost business to
Send all our DVDs including overseas we charge by weight and region, you can see the pricing tables on
auspost.com.au/content/dam/auspost_corp/media/documents/mypost-business-postage-rates-guide.pdf
You guys are the best.xo
Haha thanks Monique❤️
Brill video Jaz. Thanks for.all the clarification. Lol you do you takes courage heheh but have been stung doing Frankenstein packaging xxx cheri
Haha thanks Cheri, It's definitely annoying that they insist on their own branded packaging for the standard sizes. When Frankenboxing I even over-measure 1/2 a cm to cover ourselves
Awesome video. With your cheapest 22c option. How do you deal with large amounts of orders. Do you write the addresses by hand?
We only ship tracked so we don’t have to handwrite any labels but if your are selling those lower end dvds you could copy the address onto the dymo connect app and print a smaller address label
Are the padded mailers you get off ebay and in that link 230mm x 160mm? Cause i just got a pack of 100 at that size and the dvd just doesn't fit inside it 😔 waste of $20 there for me. Is it better to just go a bigger size if other mailers on ebay are going to be the same at that 230x160 size 🤔
Do you have a link to where to buy the non post padded mailers
The actually ones I buy are currently out of stock but these ones here work out to about 29c
ebay.us/LG85tF
This is awesome info!
Q: For the parcel service, small padded mailer, that fits 6 DVDs, is the cost $10.60? I'm trying to find value in selling cheap games, but it's not there for a single game in a padded letter, and wondering if this is the cheapest postage cost next step up. Thanks!
The price on the smalls can vary if you have my post business but it takes a while to build it up, I do believe you can send 2 as a large untracked letter
@@2AussieThrifters Thanks! But $10.60 is the base cost right?
Yeah I was thinking that is another option - 2 in in a large letter.
Cheers
I am sure you still get the same band discounts if you go into the post office and they scan your MyBusiness code?
Hi thanks for the vid, where do you get the plain white bubble envelopes from for 22c?
Hi I’ve put a link in the description to the cheapest ones I can find atm the 22c ones seem to be sold out
Could you please tell me where you get the generic mailers that are similar dimensions to the aus post PM1 mailers ? It’s for dvds to be sent with postage stamps.
It won't matter you set MPB as small and end up using your own mail material as long as the actual package weight is less than 500g, same as 1kg. Not sure why you show the use of 2 A5 sticker in one A4 if you can use 4x A6 one in one A4. I won't recommend the use of eBay to do label printing as they're giving you retail price (same as going to post office).
How much are you typically saving with the mypost-business system on a sub 500g parcel?
On average I’d say about a dollar, it varies depending on region same city to same city is significantly cheaper.
I want that Riverdale dvd 📀 brad
Haha I don’t think we have it up for sale yet
how would you send a new and sealed DVD tracked? I sold one recently for $29 and I want to use the tracked enveloped but obviously I cant open up a sealed DVD to insert bubble wrap. Not sure if wrapping in bubble wrap helps, or if that exceeds the 20mm limit anyway.
I would personally use one of the bubble mailers and sent it tracked
@@2AussieThrifterscan that be processed through the mypost business dashboard as 'use own packaging' and whack a label on it? or do I have to buy stamps for those?
@@Lupi33z through my post business they are sized accordingly so small , medium, large etc
ah, okay so that would be a standard $10.60 postage then. May as well use one of my small auspost mailers. I was hoping to save some money @@2AussieThrifters I'm also torn between the pros and cons of being tossed in with all the heavy parcels or with the envelopes...
Yeah unfortunately it jumps straight up to that standard small pricing. Could even chuck it in a small AP box as the shipping cost stays the same but its not gonna get crushed. I do wish there was a tracked envelope price for a slim rigid box.
where abouts are you buying the untracked bubble mailers?
everywhere i look they're alot more expensive than 22c each
I’ll grab you a link
The actually ones I buy are currently out of stock but these ones here work out to about 29c
ebay.us/LG85tF
@@TheFoolishNutter thanks - it's a minefield looking through all the options!
For the tracked letter do i have to go to the counter and tell them to scan it? Or can i put it straight to the street letter box?
Also if i brought it online and went to the post office im worried they will charge me extra thinking i havent paid for it yet so do i just tell them i prepaid it online already?
How are you still sending DVD's in a untracked padded mailer for $2.40 or $3.60 after the July change by Australia Post? Ever since then this method has got me fined by Australia post almost every time I send something the same way.
I’m not, this video was made in May pre the changes, unfortunately Aus post prices increase regularly
So how do you send them now? @@2AussieThrifters
We are sending everything tracked in a bubble mailer or box and aiming to only list DVDs with an average sale price $30 or higher. Always adjusting to the changes!
Thanks for the reply's, so just to confirm, if you were selling say a $4 DVD or Xbox game or something, it will now cost you roughly $10.60 to send? How much does it cost for a Tracked bubble mailer?@@2AussieThrifters
No worries, we're personally using MyPost Business to get a volume based discount - small parcels $6.38 - $10.07 depending on location to ship and then the bubble mailer we use from Aus Post is 80 cents each also buying in bulk to bring the cost down
scratches, cleaning - someone help! Yes I've googled, YT, toothpasted and bicarbed, eucaltyptus'd and glasses cleaner cleaned, but must be missing what actually works ;) Heeeeelp
Generally the only thing that really works is to invest in a decent dvd disc cleaning machine but they can be reasonably expensive
Lol $3.60 😂 untracked
The professional DVD sellers use pre-paid plain C5 postage paid envelopes as they hold 500gm with a 15c bubble pouch and the same deal when buying them in bulk.
You also failed to show how you can post 2 x tv series tracked in a A5 green card envelope side by side.
You get the same postage rates over the counter if Australia post scans your mypost QR code.
You're giving your profit away to Australia post
No worries champ, realistically If the item is under 125g the cheapest option available at $2.40.
There are ways of contributing and helping others in the comments without talking down to people obviously this video cannot provide every single possible option under the sun it is designed to offer people the most commonly used options and a starting point for beginners.
Thanks guys, great tips. Where do you buy your generic dymo labels from? Cheers
No worries at all we use these
ebay.us/cxfYM4
The domestic letter with tracking, Do you have to go into the post office and pay tracking on top of them? Or can you just drop them in a post box its already paid etc?
You pay for those upfront, you can buy them in bulk to get better pricing too
@@2AussieThrifters Thanks for the reply! Can you just then chuck your packaged item in a post box? Or do you have to drop them into a post office?
@@DamnBadGamer you can but it won’t get the first scan until it gets sorted
Can you send dvds as letters on myauspost business? or is that done separately?
Separately for a letter, on MyPost Business all of the options are tracked parcel options :)
1 minute and 16 seconds in I’m a bit concerned with your hairy hand Jaz😅😂😂😂 Jokes. Nice handy work Brad🤣 Great vid guys.
Haha I don’t think I’m getting a hand modeling contract anytime soon
