Thank you very much for this video. It was God sent. I accidentally ran out of fuel and my f450 stopped. I was across the street from a gas station and had a large gas can. I went and filled up with diesel but truck would not start. I had truck towed to my home which was around the corner. Called a mobile diesel mechanic that said that lines needed bleeding. Mechanic never showed up. I googled and saw this video and followed the instructions. Within 30 minutes my truck cranked up and was up and running. I ran it on the freeway to open it up and it’s running perfect again. Thanks again.
All these other videos say bleed from the Schrader. Non mention the banjo unless talking about special tools. Spent 3 hours bleeding it to no avail. Found your video and 5 minutes later the truck was running. You saved my ass. Thanks!!
My truck ran out of fuel even though my gauges showed 1/4 tank. I put 5 gals of diesel in but couldn’t get it to prime. I ended up draining the batteries trying. After charging the batteries I found your video, and, using your method, I was up and running in 5 mins. Very grateful that you took the time to post this.
Man you saved my butt on this. I was getting pretty worried when nothing was working. Tried your method and had it running in 5 min. Thanks a ton. Great mechanic!
Yeah!!! I was freakin out. I was swapping and injector put everything back and the truck wasn’t turning on. Then I saw your video and did the exact same thing for 2 hrs. And it turned on!! Thank you.
Hey brother!!! I know it’s been 3-years since you posted this; however, I want to say, “you saved my rear end” with this video! Brilliance, upon brilliance! Well done, sir!
Yes, thank you for the video. You saved me from a complete melt down. Just for my truck back from a trans build and decided to service oil and fuel filters. I thought I had a bad fuel pump until I find your video. You the man!
Man, thanks! I had to replace my hfcm (low pressure pump) so had to disconnect lines. I probbaly did this for 20 mins and finally got it going. Drove fine. I let it sit for a few hours now and it was a slow start again omce cold so will throw another 10 mins at it tomorrow. Must be air still. I found that if I did 3 key cycles to let it build more, then popped the banjo, i was getting much more air coming out rather than loosening banjo every cycle. Awesome tip, I was only bleeding the Schrader until I saw this vid!
MAN you saved me so much time and money with this video! I stumbled across this video after reading countless blogs with no success but YOU my friend saved me ass!
This worked for me. I bought STP fuel filters and couldn’t get it to start. I put the old filter back in, and followed the steps you showed, and it fired right up. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this video. I was working on my 2008 6.4 for 3 days after changing oil and fuel filters. After this it would not start and was throwing code p2291. I was researching and watching videos and was about to have it towed to local mechanic. This video probably saved me hundreds. Every videos was saying fuel pump or fuel injector sensor, which is under valve cover on passenger side, or saying throw the dice could be a number of problems. I even replaced a couple sensors and put a new oil tube in filter housing still wouldn't start. I went out as a last resort and tried this thinking yea right but it worked. Just cycling the fuel pump for 30 seconds for 5 to 7 cycles does not always work. You have to get all the air out of the fuel line. Thanks again.
You my friend are truly a blessing!!! I had no clue as to what to do and thank you for letting us know that it is possible to take all day. Mine actually took me 3 hours CONTINUOUSLY but the end result was hearing the sound of that motor running again! Thank you man..... I appreciate you and I have subscribed!!! I am a fan!
Thank you SIR! Mine took about as long as this video. My cousin is assisting me an he was thinking we had to go buy bleedr and i found your video! The fuel squirts out a lot more powerful on my truck? From start to finish in under an hour! Plus saved huge by doing everything and servicing it myself. if a mostly paraplegic guy can do this anyone probably can it sucked but now im bout to change power steering pump, EGR and DPF upgrade (delete)..😂😂😖
Thank you my Spanish is bad. Writing Spanish is worse. But that is very good information. PS I never buy those cheap filters. I always have a set on the shelf. I buy to replace the ones I use from my shelf. And up here on the North West coast check your oil water separator it will pay off clean it out every 30k or so😊👍
PS I spray a bunch of break clean around that area after doing that. I always take shop air pressure and clean around the primary filter and pump area real good and give it a good wipe with a shop rag. A lot or dirt and mud can get thrown up around that area. Then spray the cap and area with break-clean I try to keep the smell of diesel down helps when you smell diesel fuel you might have a leak.
Thanks for posting this video! My son got impatient after changing his F350's fuel filters and air-locked the system, but the backyard bleed worked perfect.
Hey BD Vato thankyou for the all the motivation that i got from your video. You must be tenacious and not give up on getting the air out. Within 15 mins of watching your video, I got my 08 6.4 running after running it out of fuel on a hill idling (dumbass me I know ). So most us know that you loosen the back banjo bolt to bleed it not the one with Schrader valve. And that the pump runs 30 secs after turning on the key. I worked solo and It worked fine. I got a ratchet and a 17mm socket and any tool that works to push in the Schrader valve needle gently. I did not worry so much with the valve till the end and I was sure air was done coming out of banjo. you must move quickly in order not to have banjo open after the pump stops or you just sucked in a bunch or air and your starting this over again. so I got an incredible bleed of air when I would loosen the banjo quickly and even jiggle it as to allow trapped air out along with quite a bit of fuel then tighten it back down gently and quickly just enough to not let it suck in more air. only tighten slightly with socket BEFORE it stops. repeat the process until only diesel is coming out with no foam now start bleeding Schrader as well each time until it also just has trail diesel flowing out with NO air. once accomplished tighten down banjo to spec good and snug. then do the x6 30sec priming running the pump to further up the pressure. when you get that last bit of air out you will know--your very close the pressure will be so high opening banjo that you might need safety glasses and a rag because it will be spraying out hard enough to get your attention for sure. open the banjo plenty enough to getrdone. bearly opening it will just take many more cycles of the same. dont not give upif you ran it dry or just got air in changing the fuel filter it will work for you. again great going vato I am subscribed. I bow to you diesel brother I will be sharing my discovery with a local ford mechanic that deals with this all the time.peace out donmiguel it these little details that I hope someone reads my long ass comment...lol and helps another get that ford back on the road
Thanks bro tbh u really made my day got to help my grunpy dad today also made his day wen i turned it on due to his diabetes hes always in a bad mood but not today lol thank u alot god bless

YOU ARE A FUCKIN GENIUS !!!!! I HAVE A 2008 F550 THAT WOULD NOT START, BUT YOUR ADVICE WORKED PERFECTLY !!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!!! YOU ARE MY GO TO MAN NOW.......
Half Tank. Old batteries, wouldn’t start. Tried over and over and nothing. Finally bought good batteries bleed four time did exactly as he said fired right up a little hesitation but fired up. Works.
Since the passing of diesel tech ron your the only one posting any 6.4 vids. Your missing a huge opportunity to get more views and followers. Imho more vids...more fans...more money for u. Plus its a big help.
Thank bro.. I'll make more.. we run threw 6.4s like clock work around here.. just been crazy busy.. looking for a bigger shop.. but ppl asking crazy Money.. but thank you for the info... I'm take your advice
That is awesome to know the knowledge you have with diesel engines. Much appreciate what you do for the people whom seek this kind of help. What would be the difference in a 6.0. And thanks in advance.
ford 6.0 self priming system.. just cycle the key about 5 to 10 times in a 20 second intervals... If your low pressure pump is weak which happens alot after replacing the filters.. there not enough pressure to prime.. and required to replace low pump... but you can tell if you remove the top fuel filter.. and cycle the key.. it should fill up on about 3 seconds
Thank you so much for the info, God bless bud your info was really helpful...continue on helping people out with no knowledge helping people will take you a long way.

I changed my fuel filters and had air in my 6.4 (motor craft filters only) I just back off the fuel filter the one under the hood so the gasket is just 10:33 touching, do your normal cycling and it should start right up, retighten to factory spec

Gracias valedor
It worked for me as well but when I drove down the street it would Trun off on me idk ima gonna have keep bleeding it or it could be something else I would like to know more information cause I Recently change out the fuel filters I just Wunna about those trucks if possible
Make sure the low pump is good.. remove the top filter and cycle the key and should fill up in about 5sec.. and make sure your fuel filters caps are on correctly and tighten all the way. No gap should be visible.. between the filter caps and the housing
I tried some other methods and then tried this method but nothing was coming out. No stream of diesel like shown in this video.the fuel filter can also doesn't fill up. Is it possible that my fuel pump went out while trying?
Bro it’s taking me weeks and I’ve got it started a few times got it down the road after it’s idled for a half hour and it keeps stalling. I replaced Hpfp cause 4k psi and still nothin.
@@BackyardDieselz Hmm i did about 15 times, and still no go. I even pulled the return line out and let the pump run for 30 , about 3 times to make sure is pushing all the air out and still no go. All this started as the fuel pressure sensor by the fuel filter on the high fuel rail started to leak, so i changed that with new but now not starting , i may have to re-charge the battery too now. See some pictures here, maybe i pulling the wrong hose out, but maybe not is clearly u can tell the hose on rail that u can unplug and goes back to tank. i am thinking that maybe when i disconnected the return line and cycled the fuel pump i let it stop and once it stopped it suck air in? maybe i should stop pump at 27-28 sec's? but still as i have a hose connected on the rail to a bucket to prevent diesel spill on floor. Few pictures here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1996dTJOepfcmK76s1NVatNja6uOC-Lbv?usp=sharing Thanks for advice.
@@burnjack291 that's the only sensor you touch... Uplug it and try starting it...and if no start try unplugging you high pressure sensor... See what happens... Your truck was running fine before all this Right...the only reason you replace that sensor was because it was leaking... Correct
@@BackyardDieselz Yap the only sensor i have touched. and the truck was running fine before that happen. Just started to leak at the sensor shooting diesel fuel up thru that sensor up and replaced that sensor, that's all. Will have another look in the morning monday. So if sensor unplugged that should cause the check engine light to come on? if it starts let say...? Thanks!
i had a guy change my low pressure pump. afterwards truck ran fine then started being hard to start, but starts and drives then dies while driving. im wondering can it be my system has air in it? if not he is wanting to change my high pressure pump now! should i try to bleed it first?
Check to see if your getting air bubbles... Doesn't necessarily mean it's not pressure problem.. are you getting any codes.. and injector can also be the problem... You have to watch the high pressure side on live data.. see what's it doing.. and yes if air in the line...it will die a few times if not bleeded right

Can you give me a call if possible?
Look up Backyard Dieselz on google maps and call me..
Would it be possible to make one in how to trouble shoot when no start. Thanks in advance.
Will do captain... Next one that come in..
Thank you so much bro...do what you do best.
Awesome working on mine too
I tried some other methods and then tried this method but nothing was coming out. No stream of diesel like shown in this video.the fuel filter can also doesn't fill up. Is it possible that my fuel pump went out while trying?
Yes we seen pumps go out on fuel filters change alone
Grasias viejo me salvaste
Bro it’s taking me weeks and I’ve got it started a few times got it down the road after it’s idled for a half hour and it keeps stalling. I replaced Hpfp cause 4k psi and still nothin.
Thanks for the video. How do i do it on 2016 f450 6.7L Diesel.?
6.7 are easier.. you just cycle the key 10 times.. every 30 seconds.. self bleeding system...
Thanks!
@@burnjack291 who cares about the check engine light we need truck to start
How would you bleed a 6.0 powerstroke?
Key cycle only... 6.0 don't work on fuel pressure... There a lil diferente..
i had a guy change my low pressure pump. afterwards truck ran fine then started being hard to start, but starts and drives then dies while driving. im wondering can it be my system has air in it? if not he is wanting to change my high pressure pump now! should i try to bleed it first?
Check to see if your getting air bubbles... Doesn't necessarily mean it's not pressure problem.. are you getting any codes.. and injector can also be the problem... You have to watch the high pressure side on live data.. see what's it doing.. and yes if air in the line...it will die a few times if not bleeded right
7E8 P008 fuel rail/System pressure too high
