In 1989 my parents gave me a choice. I could get a gameboy and wait a week and get my Andre Dawson baseball glove, or I could get my glove and not get a gameboy at all. 35yrs later, I still have my glove and my wife finally bought me my 1st gameboy!
Oh no! The Sophie's Choice of baseball and video games! It's so awesome that 35 years later it wasn't you but your wife who finally remedied it. Great story!
@@foreterniaofficialshe also got me back into MOTU 4yrs. She bought me an origins He-Man, Skeletor and Battle Cat as a joke. Joke's on her as it's now an obsession!😂
We’re really hoping Swiftwind will be able to become Spirit too. It would make sense for Mattel to get a lot of bang for their buck there, release Arrow and other POP horsies, and finally Teela’s charger.
Thanks for another great episode AJ. The toy or line that got away for me would have to be Tigersgarks. Always wanted them but for some reason never got any.
Thanks Scott and you know, I don't remember actually ever watching Tigersharks! I believe I remember watching commercials for them. I also think I remember the toys. They had this cool Thundercats kind of vibe, but I don't believe I actually watched a single episode. I have to make a mental note to correct that finally! 🙂
Can we just get pop figures That look like the vintage ones with the real hair it’s been like a long time just put those out and the fans will be happy and everyone will buy them
I’d love to see Vintage Toy styled PoP, but Filmation will be cool too. Melendy Britt is an angel among us; she called Hermione for her 8th birthday when Covid canceled it out of the kindness of her heart, spoke to her for about ten minutes. So sweet.
AJ, that was an awesome analogy on marriage, I even called my wife over and replayed that part to her and then we got into a good conversation about it. I have been hoping for princess of power figures for a while now, cuz I’m not a fan of the origins one that looks like the original. I would love one that looks like the cartoon, and a few of the other characters also.
That is so awesome that you and your wife discussed it Mike! I fell in love with it when I first heard it too. It was one of those things that feels like it should be in print and handed out with every marriage certificate. In healthcare there's such a thing as preventative care... wouldn't it be amazing if there was something like that in society for marriages too? I really feel in my bones the CC POP figures are definitely coming. We'll see what is announced later this month! 🤞
A.J. I had the snoopy snow cone maker bought used from a garage sale, because I too grew up on the poor side. Let me tell you, that thing was awesome but trying to make the snow cone taste like you imagined it would, was impossible for me haha. You didn’t miss anything my friend. If you still want to try it out for yourself though you can find them now at Walmart.
Ah, so it won't live up to the hype built up in my mind then. Good to know buddy. 😄 Wait, you can still find them at Walmart? Wow! That is amazing! Now I'm tempted. And here I thought it died with the 80s. Nostalgia must know no bounds!
I would actually love them to transition to more of the She-Ra/Horde versus the Snakes - snakes are way over done in Origins. Give them to the Masterverse. They made some great Horde, but it feels like they kind of just skipped over them halfway through. But on the horde side keep the figs og style. Modulock etc wouldn’t be great origins figs. I appreciate your retrospect. Right before MOTU came out my parents also went through a divorce and moved to different cities. That was pretty much the end of Star Wars for my brother and I but…Damn Motu came out. My bro and I got them off the shelf before the cartoons or commercials came out. Just too cool. We didn’t have much money either but dad was generous for letting us get some toys. But we would also ride our bikes around the city picking cans up on the street taking them to recycling to fund our early additions 😂 I can’t imagine how many miles we rode our bikes. We would ride our old school no gears dirt bikes literally 10 miles down a freeway to the next city get something and back, and our parents had no idea in our preteens that’s at the point you could have paper routes as a kid too 😅. The 80s were the best.🎉 it was totally a different era. Good times though. Great vid.
Thanks for sharing this. Hearing your memories just takes me back. It is amazing what we could do back then and where we could go, right? One town. Two. Three towns over! We could go as far as our bikes and daylight could take us! Just be home by dark and things would be okay. And dirt bikes! Mongoose dirt bikes were the Air Jordans in my neck of the woods. Everyone wanted one. And pads! Your dirt bike wasn't cool without those pads! Those were the best days. 😄
Yes! That crazy shooting fist! Logic be damned. 😄 So Mondo Battle Cat is your new toy that got away? Wow, I never stopped to comtemplate present day toys, but today's market is ripe for that isn't it. These toys get so expensive now so quickly on the secondary market, and just missing a preorder window can price people out for good. Great point!
I'd love some She-Ra cartoon characters if they are from the Filmation era. I could care less about Netflix She-Ra. That was one boring show. Fingers crossed for some more figures of our beloved 80s She-Ra cast of characters!
I believe Cartoon Collection would be Filmation era 1985 She-Ra figures, and the artwork teases are definitely reflecting that, so I truly believe what you are looking for...especially with the 40th Anniversary... is what's coming! 🙂
Right? Those early Transformers were complicated! My older brother enjoyed model making. He loved spending hours meticulously cutting those tabs away from plastic pieces and gluing them all together to make boats, cars, etc.. I should have given those Transformers to him. He definitely had more of the required temperament! 😄 Yep, Diana aka Jane Balder posters were abundant in many kid's bedrooms in the 1980's! 😄
Aw, sorry to hear that! That Millennium Falcon was such a impressive toy too. Or maybe playset is the proper classification? Either way,I bet it tops a lot of people's lists!
11:53 well, that explains mattel's reasoning behind the creation of thunder-punch he-man ! caps for action figures !! 😂 thank u sooooo much for the shout-out, sweetie. as members of your community, it's such an absolute joy to know how much our comments and engagement contribute to your channel, website and general morale, aj 🧡 none of us would be here if not for you and your continued efforts for keeping the presence of he-man and she-ra alive online. we ALL appreciate YOU !! i've got a list of my own, aj. (although as you and i are of a different generation, there may be one or two on this list that you may or may not recognize....so i apologize in advance 😅) so here is adora's top 5 5. sweet talkin' ken (the 2011 version) he had a little re-recordable microphone thing in his back, you'd say something into the mic, like record a message and ken would say it back in "his voice", well....just like a deeper version of your own voice 😂 like one of the talking barbies they made back in the 80's buy in 2011, mattel were making you do the work yourself lol 4. pixel chix so this was like a girly tamagotchi. it was a mattel product actually. it was like a little plastic house with a screen built into it and instead of an "electronic pet" like tamagotchi, it was an electronic best friend, like a barbie.....only in an lcd screen. she talked to you and everything and you could to dress her up and connect to other pixel chix and she'd hang out with your friends pixel chick. my sister had one and so did her friend, not me tho. 🙃 lol 3. a lightsaber what can say? mom just wouldn't allow it in the house. in the yard too for that matter. but honestly, i'm not so sad about that one as my handmade, cardboard and aluminum powersword was WAY cooler and more stylish than ANY lightsaber ! lol 2. barbie dreamhouse okay this is like the girl version of the g.i. joe USS flagg aircraft carrier in the sense that.....everybody dreamed of it, asked for it but alas, none of us actually ever had it. none of my barbies had a dreamhose to call home, neither did my sisters, neither did any of our friends growing up. the most recent dreamhouse set retails for around 200, so i shudder to think what the dreamhouse of MY childhood costs now. 1. VINTAGE motu action figures omg T H I S let me tell ya, as a youngster, i YEARNED for a set of original motu toys. this was the ultimate downside for us younger he-man fans, aj. the upside was that, growing up in the 2000's/2010's meant we had 4 different motu shows all at the same time, the 2 filmation series, 200x and new adventures, not to mention the movie and we had the dc comics and of course we had the 200x comics and toys but something BIG we missed out on and that was the original 80's figures, vehicles and playsets. online shopping was off-limits to us when i was a kid and apart from that, the prices....by zoar, the prices! i could only dream of reenacting my fav filmation adventures when i was little. yes, we did (and i had) a few of the 2000's toys and i've no shortage of cherished memories with them but there was never as many characters made for the 200x line as there was for the 80's line, 200x was missing a ton of playsets, vehicles, accessories and action features as well. one of the best things about growing up is finally being financially strong enough to claim back this lost time and today, i've accumulated an okay-ish collection of vintage motu. Thank me? No thank you! Honestly your support, your kindness, and the other nice people around us is just everything. I think you nailed it when you said how it affects my general morale. It does. It really does. It's a group hug. I never thought to phrase it this way before, but it really is a great way to describe it. It's an essentia group hug... at least essential for me. So thank you so much. 😊 I do hate that sometimes it takes me so long to reply though, but please don't ever think it's a reflection of anything, or take it personally. It's nothing of the sort. It's just me needing to be born an octopus with eight arms lately but resigned to being just a human. 😀 Also I LOVE your list! Not just your #1 MOTU but a Light Saber? Looking forward to the SDCC reveals for MOTU, should be exciting.
Me too! I can feel it in my bones!
I did have a complete scaled down version of the Lion Voltron.
We’re really hoping Swiftwind will be able to become Spirit too. It would make sense for Mattel to get a lot of bang for their buck there, release Arrow and other POP horsies, and finally Teela’s charger.

With the 40th Anniversary coming anything is possible! We will have to see what Mattel announces in a couple weeks at the SDCC! 😀
I’d love to see Vintage Toy styled PoP, but Filmation will be cool too. Melendy Britt is an angel among us; she called Hermione for her 8th birthday when Covid canceled it out of the kindness of her heart, spoke to her for about ten minutes. So sweet.

I had that Godzilla! That damned fist shooting off!😂😂😂
Never had a Technodrome.

That's really Awswome 😍🔥 Can't wait for them 💖✨️
I can't wait for the She-Ra Cartoon Collection figures either. I really believe they are coming based on everything we've seen. 🙂

So thank you so much. 😊
I do hate that sometimes it takes me so long to reply though, but please don't ever think it's a reflection of anything, or take it personally. It's nothing of the sort. It's just me needing to be born an octopus with eight arms lately but resigned to being just a human. 😀
Also I LOVE your list! Not just your #1 MOTU but a Light Saber? I can't believe you weren't allowed to have one! And that Sweet Talking Ken! I love it. I wonder how many kids made Ken repeat inappropriate things - probably more than we can count. 😄
