This is the song that put Low on my musical map. Never got tired of it and never will. The E minor chord sounds absolutely majestic in their hands. RIP Mimi.
A “dinosaur act” is something that is repeated so often or that has been done for such a long time, that it does not mean anything any more, it has no more effect. Like an old joke, or a job once exciting but that after a while doesn’t bring any joy whatsoever.
A moment for John Peel bringing me here. May his legacy live on in all we do to appreciate and share good music that we love with other souls in need of healing.
...........putting your foot down a nail shot up like a bright red snowflake! yer just can no get a lyric as good as that! the reference to "a pilot" and telling the twins sister "from the back of their heads" just cracks me! Low do things so simple, so sweet and so, so charming. Love Low! a smug faced
"Kids love that Dinosaur song" -I remember someone in the band (probably Alan) saying that, or something like it, when they introduced the song at a live show, back when this album was new.
I only knew the band "Low" for Mothman Prophecies. I wish i would have listened to them sooner, like, before this. R.I.P. Mimi. P.S. I'm a new fan of Low!
This well loved song always cracks me up, ya it's possible Low has a sense of humor. Imagine a single of Sunflowers and Dinosaur Act, it would be right up there with Rain and Paperback Writer.
You were their daughter, and your father flew airplanes. You and your sister could tell by the back of their hands, it was a dinosaur act. And after expenses and pulling up fences, no more airplanes. And putting your foot down, a nail shot up like a bright red snowflake, just like a dinosaur act. And all through the dust you feel that you must hear the strings of a dove, but it's a dinosaur act...
I always thought the line was "you were her sister, they could tell by the back of your heads." Folks used to tell that to me and my sister when we were growing up and I always felt so special. I love my sister so much I'm going to leave the line in my head
I was familiar with the band before I heard this but for some reason when I heard it for the first time on radio I didn’t recognise them, thought it was a new age band who’d written a song about a dinosaur app lol
Tub Wai Yan well what people write about in songs and functionality of what people write about in songs are two different things, I suppose. Sorry it took me a little while to respond. I’m currently working on a dinosaur app.
hmmm, I always took the "dinosaur act" lyric to mean like "disappearance act," like someone left or died, maybe the "father" referenced. Anyways, who are the 2 ppl who gave this a thumbs down?
I Hope this comment its ironic because if its not, you really accomplished what you wanted because i would erase you from existence. have a good day *horrible

What made you think that people would use a dinosaur app?
Tub Wai Yan well what people write about in songs and functionality of what people write about in songs are two different things, I suppose.

@@rhettpeter83 I won't use your app.
Perfect
🔥
First time heard this was on no disco and they must have played it at the wrong speed because the vocal was lower and slower
Great song in any speed

I always used to sing this as "dinosaur ant" and really thought that's what they were saying...
Brandon R you never noticed it was the title of the song?
:D
This version has much better sound quality - ruclips.net/video/biQXG-Djm8Q/видео.html
It will be like that until Jesus return !
Ok
Boring.
