Chathuranga, I hope what you said about WHT and the refund mechanism for over-collected taxes stand and will come to effect.
I do my elderly relative's tax. Todate the due refund has not been paid by IRD for the last 2 years.
Give Chaturanga a break. They are only in power a few months and have increased the Tax threshold to 150 000! Very good start. The SJB man is totally absurd in his criticisms of the government for not bringing instant changes.

The enigmatic Swasthika Arulingam is correct with her criticism of the NPP in their reliance on status quo economists.
The core of their reforms will be in tax policies which stops eroding wealth at the bottom which then moves to the top.
This means a systematic move from taxing consumption to taxing income. And moving away for Neo Liberal Economics.
While also reworking the debt restructuring where the burden is equitably distributed.
While Central Bank Chairman Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe should be give all credit for stabilising the economy, neither he nor Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Duminda Hulangamuwa are not the people who will do this.

Sometime ago, I thought that she was a rationale lady. But, sadly and very sadly she doesn't seem to understand a thing of the current situation of the country . Thankfully, NPP does and the country is on the path of recovery.

Expecting wonders in two months after destroying for the last 76years and ending up bankrupt.Sri Lanka was a country with two laws one for the have and one for don't have some ruled this country like they owned it and did as they wished sad.
Software developed by SL is used in London stock exchange, true. But it is used in London and under the control of the UK. However, if SL developed any critical and strategic software system used in the country, it has grave concerns. Because srilankans are generally considered commodities that any crook can buy. So, I think the NPP decision to get the core system from offshore is the right decision.
Doesn't matter the country is but how good the software is. I know how my mobile number is robbed and getting 3 to 4 calls per day for scamming. In uk.
There is every reason for NPP to go to India get a grant and do the thing.
They have to get ISO/IEC 27001 Certification. Even Nations Trust Bank has obtained that.

Chaturanga, why are you dwelling on matters which cannot (IMF agreements signed off br Wickremasinghe ) without causing huge upheaval in both Time and Financial agreements reached with international lenders and institutions. AKD l/NPP policy on that is secure.
Cocentrate on "System Change" , which was the "primary" clause on which the public voted 159 representatives of NPP as MPs.
