- Join me on a glider flight around the Randall (06N) airport in the Schweizer SGS 2-33. This unedited video captures the entire flight, from takeoff to landing. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any thermals to stay afloat and had to cut the flight short after an unsuccessful attempt to remain in a weak thermal. A good low tow. Being towed with the tug sitting on the nose always makes me nervous. If you hit an unexpected bump the tug disappears below the nose and you are forced to bung off quickly . I have witnessed from the ground an incident when someone overflew the tug and ended up dragging the tug backwards until the rope snapped. The tug was spinning as it was towed making it hard for the tug pilot to release. Fortunately they were high enough for the tug to recover and no one was hurt.
Your experience really sheds light on the potential risks of towing, and it makes me appreciate even more why our club emphasizes low tow practices.

You will definately have fun. If you can fly SGS 2-33, then you can probably fly any glider :-D
