    You can, as well, take the feed for webasto, from the return circuit. 😊

    Excellent. I’ve been procrastinating dropping the tank for 2 years. I’ll get on with it now 🎉
    Link to the kit please?

    Looks like a really good solution. How deep into the tank does that nipple draw from? Is there a risk that it will run the van dry or will I always need a nearly full tank?

    • @ahoymark6507
      @ahoymark6507 27 дней назад

      I presume it wouldn’t. That nipple has been made and designed by VW specifically to attach an auxiliary diesel feed so I would guess there’s some safety in leaving some fuel in the tank. The reality is it uses very little diesel on a diesel heater. Our 2kw autoterm is never higher than setting 1 which uses around 150ml of diesel per hour.

    Where can I buy the cap for the fuel filter from please? Didn’t realise it would be this easy to go off the tank just unsure where to get it from Thanks

    No idea how this popped into my feed, but Autoterm heaters are really good. I have a completely different type of setup and not on one of the manufacturers mentioned here but this all sems very sound.
    I run on the diesel retern line with a boat-style 50 micron filter (also from Autoterm).
    Great video!

      I’ve fitted 6 or so with no issues and we still have three of them in our Transporter hire vans. There are some cracking Chinese heaters about with brushless motors and higher quality glow plugs etc but the price does then start to get close to Autoterm. At least then if you are ever selling your van on it’s a known brand.

    I like too put a 6x2 bit of wood under the fuel tank on too the jack

      Thanks Marc really appreciate it. I thought I was losing the plot scribbling on a wipeboard but in the end I was happy with it. Katie’s not happy with a massive wipe board floating round the house though 😂

    Considering all the points you cover, is there any reason why the heater unit couldn't be mounted elsewhere in the van and duct the air to various places within the van? Handy tip for you 30 degrees is generally the angle between your index finger and your thumb when your index finger is horizontal and your thumb is vertical. 👉

    • @ahoyleisure
      @ahoyleisure  5 месяцев назад

      No not at all. It can go various places under or in the van. Haha tip taken :-)

    Great video! I have no spare nipple on the top of the tank since My 2020 Crafter has the factory standheater built in. I want to install the Truma D4e as a heater and water supplier for the camper part of the van, but I do not want to give up on the standheater for the cab. What are my options? I really cannot find anything on tapping into an existing diesel line or an alternative way to connect. Anyone any clue?

    • @ahoyleisure
      @ahoyleisure  3 месяца назад

      @@mike130568 I know they say tapping in to the vehicle fuel line is a no no due to pressure reduction but tapping in to the existing heater could be fine. Let me ask about and see if anyone has done it and come back to you.

    How full does the tank have to be? I have fitted this kit but I can't for the life of me get suction.
    The connector feels loose even though its clicked; I can move it up and down a little

    • @ahoyleisure
      @ahoyleisure  Месяц назад

      It sounds like you may need to take a bit more off the nipple. Check with a phone by videoing it to make sure you have cut enough off and can see a small hole. The fuel should flow out of the pipe neatly rather than spurt.

    With the heater under the drivers seat would it still be possible to fit a swivel base? Thanks

    • @ahoymark6507
      @ahoymark6507 2 месяца назад +1

      I think it depends on the type. FYI mine are both factory swivel seats and they work 100%.

    I’ve just fitted one of these nipples, failed at first because I’d not quite cut down far enough. Was a pain to get it off😢😂. What I did find is that I could photograph the nipple with my phone to see if I’d cut through, maybe a good idea to do that and verify before pressing the connector on.
