I build miniatures for film and tv and i used to use the same material as you use here and it was lots of work, then i discovered that if you look for a shop that sells model ships, you can buy the different woods in the sizes you need from them, the sizes are from 0.5mm to 12mm thickness and from 2mm to 100mm width and the woods they sell are bass wood, cherry, spruce, pear, oak, walnut and even mahogany, this has saved me so much time with cutting and sanding. Your work is exceptionally good, by the way, new sub here.
