    Question
Would the World Economic Forum be a good example of a Intergovernmental Organization?

Intergovernmental organizations (IGO) are created by states and only states may be members. The World Economic Forum is sort of like an International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which are organized by individuals rather than states. NGOs operate internationally and may be registered with the United Nations (but not necessary). Still, I'm not sure that NGO is really the right way to classify the World Economic Forum. Most NGOs have some sort of non-profit status. I believe the world economic forum is organized as a private company (LLC) based in the US and Switzerland. That would make it a Multi-National Company (MNC) which is kind of an odd. Either way, it wouldn't be an IGO because it is not an organization of sovereign states.
