I don't really see the low tolleration as a negative. It's best to address the negative things directly. This way we have a sound world with happy people, instead of just swallowing missery. I do agree that dutch people do waste a lot of time doing theory instead of seeing if something actually works in reality, but that all depends on context and situations. In most cases standard solutions always work better and are a lot more predictable than specialised solutions that are fit for only one type of scenario. For example: The designs and engineering that goes into the roads and logistics could mean life or death. It can also have impact on cost and time. Therefore standard solutions usually works best here. But if you are just going to a restaurant and don't know if there are open tables, you could always take a chance. Maybe you end up being lucky and find an open table.
Robots: I've met Turks new to America say Americans are like robots (or that I too am robotic and "çok soğukkanlı" or "kuralcı.") I think, as you said, when every process has been institutionalized ("this is *the* way to do XYZ" and that is no matter who you are) then there is this belief that any other way is suboptimal or ignorant or even uncivilized. The first time a turkish friend in college borrowed my car and we were at an empty college campus. She drove over the lane lines on a turn, I gasped. I thought about how she wouldnt be covered on my car insurance. Like you said, people call the cops, they sue. There is no room for variation. On the otger hand, this leads to trust, to predictability and even productivity. Here in Turkey when I am not driving if I am not sure the other drivers will really stop at a stop sign or if I am constantly on the lookout for someone jumping into my lane or suddenly braking, I get to my destination either tired, pissed off, or anxious. There has to be some balance between "law and order" and "spontaneity and keyif." I cant even think of the English word for keyif right now, northern european culture seems to not revel in keyif or aspire to it. Anyway, you should look at Hofstede's cultural dimensions. Their research generally (my international students say so) shows differences between cultures pretty well, but given some of the things you mention, I expected different results. www.hofstede-insights.com/product/compare-countries/ For example, I expected their Indulgence score to be much lower than Turkey's score, after watching your video. Dont forget "culture" is a different thing than "personality." Maybe so far you have met individuals who are penny pinchers. There are folks I've met in Turkey and in the US like that too. I wont write anymore! Interesting video!
Hahahah yes ! Difficult and subjective topic, but I can mostly agree on your comments. Indeed it’s a package deal; there are a lot of negative results coming up with our spontaneous and law-free behaviour. And also there are good and bad results of Dutchie package deal 😅 But I would say i still think spending behaviour is still in their culture. That’s why tikkie is number one app in NL 😅 Thanks for sharing! I will have a look at the article now. Take care 👋🏻

Hahaha benim gerçekten çok net gördüğüm şeyler bunlar, o yüzden mutlaka dikkat çekiyordur expatlarda diye düşünüyorum 😅
