This song is part of my childhood. Takes me back when I was watching VH1 on TV every morning in early 2010. Thanks, Lifehouse, for making Halfway Gone my favorite Lifehouse song!
@@jddriver9565 Yes, most has been terrible since 2005. I only can list a small number of secular songs on the radio outside of country music that have sounded good. This is one of them. Christian radio has gotten exponentially better. Lots of talent there, and a good message. Country music degraded later than pop, since 2012 or so when the bro country came in.
@raniac6461 I feel like mainstream music was better in the 00's than today but there is still just as good music out there in the 2020's - it's just not mainstream. Anyone into this mid-late 2000's pop-rock music I recommend artists like Sam Fender or if your into fast-paced modern country, Tyler Braden.
8 and a half years later, I wake up on a Tuesday morning with this song stuck in my head. Completely out of nowhere... I have not listened to it for a long time but now I‘m fully enjoying it again 😍
i haven’t heard this song in forever also. i just started treatment for drug addiction, and this song randomly popped up in my head too. i relate a lot to the song because i was all the way “gone” due to my addiction but im taking the steps to better myself. so i guess i’m only halfway gone. eventually i’ll be able to say i’m all the way gone from my addiction.
An oldie but a goodie, songs like these are why I like to go back to the times where music was alot more meaningful and great to listen to compared to the amount of mega crappy music I hear nowadays that make my ears bleed.
Halfway gone is my favorite personally bc I can relate to it personally I really do always have one foot out the door and is ready to leave any second I'm used to being alone that it's just habit for me I'm used to being left behind to the point you leave before you can be left behind run your own race I can relate to broken personally too third is raindrops ft natasha bedingfield
47 years old and realizing that GREAT pop music will ALWAYS be around. You young un's gave me a scare there, for a while.... This "oldie" pulled over to the side of the road the other day to listen to this.....Love it!!!!!!!
You sound so much like JFK, who said he only learned about the Great Depression in college LOL. 2009 was at the very tail end of the neocon bubble. Lifehouse is trying to show young men and women interacting in a tranquil environment in order to prove that the ideas from this period were nothing like what the Bush administration was promoting. That said, a classy music video isn't going to do much to ease the tension of people who've lost their jobs and whose houses are underwater. Just sayin'.
Church is a social construct built around something that has no basis in fact. Historical fact perhaps, could be argued. Just about everything else, no.

I now totally understand that moment in the video, yall know what I'm talking about, when he sings to the girl and you see another girl pop up behind him... You probably think one of them is his girlfriend, but they're all just friends... so when he's singing to the one girl, he's basically telling her yeah we all slip and we all have bad things come our way out of nowhere, but we're all here and we're all still alive and we're your friends to support you through it all... the other girl that pops up is just another friend to say come on back and be part of the group, since we're all family :)
This is far from their most famous song... They were blowing up in the early 2000s. And a lot of people know that they saying you and me. This imo is not at the height of their career.

Give me a word you can keep
'Cause I'm halfway gone, and I'm on my way
And I'm feelin', feelin', feelin' this way
'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
Halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
You got one foot out the door
And choking on the other
Always think there's something more
Is just around the corner
Talk, talk is cheap
Give me a word you can keep
'Cause I'm halfway gone, and I'm on my way
And I'm feelin', feelin', feelin' this way
'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
If you want me out, then I'm on my way
And I'm feelin', feelin', I'm feelin' this way
'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
Now I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
Don't take too long, don't take too long
'Cause I'm on my way, if you take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, and I'm on way
And I'm feelin', feelin', I'm feelin' this way
'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
If you want me out, then I'm on my way
And I'm feelin', feelin', I'm feelin' this way
'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
