Hi Mick, thank you so much for testing, using and reviewing the grand voyageur journal and paper notebooks. It was super interesting to listen to your feedback, and a big THANK YOU for your kind words towards us, our brand and products :) We wish you a lot of joy with your leather companion, and I can't wait to see how it will age in your hands. All the best from Austria to Australia, Ranee at paper republic
Great looking leather. My preferred notebook is something with leather and ring-bound so I can move pages around for unlimited customizing, and sometimes changing my mind about how or where I've put something. Curious if you have reviewed any ring-bound notebooks?
I have reviewed one… the A6 leather ring organiser from Fasjosma… but I am really keen to review more. I like the ring system too. I like the disk system too… brands like Atoma I think it is.
Why this one and not the Travellers Company (Midori)? :) I'm about to buy my first notebook system of this style and right now I'm debating which one to go for. Midori seems a bit narrow, both seem quite expensive with regards to buying refills (none accept anything in regular paper sizes). Cheers from Croatia! :)
it will really just come down to the size you want, and the style of refill. Lots of brands make Travelers Company sizes, as well as many brands making notebook covers in the same style in more traditional sizes (A5 and B6 for example). You can look online and find examples of these from individual makers, smaller independent brands, and even bigger companies. Paper Republic products are extremely high quality. The notebooks have lovely paper, and are beautifully bound. They take great care and pride in their products. So in the end, it will just come down to the size you are after.
@@runpid1269that’s true, and I’m a Travelers co fan and use their TNs, but be prepared to clip everything down when you write. The plus of the Paper Republic is the thinner more relaxed leather lets the inserts lay flat. I have both and use both. But when I’m writing lots I reach for the Paper Republic. I tend to use the midori for meetings and events where the thinner profile is a bit easier, eg at a crowded desk where every inch is at a premium, and I’m only taking a few notes. If I’m playing devils advocate, when I’m out and about I prefer the travelers company because the leather is more robust, and scratches suit it, whereas the refined leather of the PRep one I think will just look not so great.
Hey Michael, curious about some insert sizes for the pocket version. Would a b6 Rhoda fit? I’m a big fan of their paper and would love to use these along with paper republic. Also wondering if you’ve installed a bookmark and if so, how?
It's smaller than A5. The Paper Republic size is unique, but I have been using B6 Notebooks in mine with no issue. They're slightly smaller, but it works fine.

He received it for free he wrote, so why would he leave a
Negative review?
@@cedarcanoefeedback does not mean ‘negative’….
Thank you for this comprehensive review!

Don't buy Midori or Travellers Company if you like lay flat book.

Is the XL Grand Voyageur leather cover compatible with standard A5 notebook inserts or are we beholden to the Paper Republic Refills.
