As far as I know, this is the only score in which Takemitsu used the cello as a concerting intrument ALONE. This "pseurdo-concerto" is highly successful and evocative of the allegoric subject of this composition. This ws no influence of course, but in addition y to the usual Debussy and Messiean, this score sounds a bit like Dutilleux' second half cretaive period ones.
