I agree with what my sister said when we watched this. They lost each other when they were finally realizing the love they have for each other. Like, think about it. If Clarke did manage to come with them in space, we all know that something is bound to happen between them. Season 3-4 Bellamy is so freaking in love w/ Clarke. My sister pointed out that back in the middle of season 1 and then the entire season 2, Bellamy never had any flings that we all saw during the beginning of the show. Because he was starting to feel something for Clarke. And then when Clarke left in the end of season 2, we see Bellamy being together with Gina in season 3 when Clarke wasn’t with them in Arkadia. Raven also said something about Bellamy not being that devoted to Gina, right? Then when Clarke wasn’t with them in space, Bellamy got together with Echo. That part where Echo looked at Bellamy and then Bellamy looked at Octavia like her words “pleading for the life of the traitor, who you love.” is dancing around inside his head. Lmao. They all say that it’s platonic. But everything seems like a very well written slow burn in my opinion. Full of character development.
I think everything in their relationship chalked up to bad timing. He loved her too early, she loved him too late. You can talk about Bellamy being in love with Clarke in S3 and S4, but what about Clarke falling in love with him in S4 and yearning to be with him in S5? She called him every day for 6 years and was overjoyed to see him again, only to find out he moved on with Echo. You can tell it ate at her, even if other events in the story and her relationship with Madi kind of distracted her from her feelings. It's so sad. They easily could have made them finally get to be happy together in the end, but they decided to ruin it instead. I'll never forgive the showrunners for that, because that's clearly where the story was intended to go - finally having the right timing.
This is my favorite hug between these two and the talk they have. This hug beats the hug from 2×15. I'm really hoping these two will be endgame soon. I'm still surprised they aren't but it's a slow burn. It has to be. There is no denying these two have more than a close friendship. All the Bellarke shippers can see it.
Okay, for everyone saying that Bellamy is in love with Clark but she isn't in love with him. Bellamy is the spontaneous one, the heart. He's showing what he feels. Clark is the brain, the wise one. Well let's be honest, in season 4, admiring that they love each other wasn't very much of a possibility for them. In my opinion, Clark was scared that admitting their feelings will make them weak, more vulnerable, that it will make hard decision even harder if not impossible. She knew they have to remain strong and sensible on the first place. So she maybe doesn't show her love as visibly as Bell does because she's obligated to stay the strong, objective leader, but it is clearly there in details. The biggest way she ever showed her love is that no matter how she tries to be willing to do anything to safe the human race, she was never able to sacrifice Bell. This is, from my point of view, also what creators meant by "of course, romance is always somewhere in the back of their minds, but there isn't really space for it right now", or sth like that. :D Hopefully, in season 5, we will get to the point where they finally won't have anything to fight against and will have an opportunity to come clean, finally. ❤️

To me, it was alwaya incredibly obvious that she's in love with him, and the show even basically spelled it out mid-season 2 with the whole "Love is weakness" - "I was beinh weak" thing. She completely adores him and believes in him and his capabilities, has always done her best to make him believe in himself, gave him emotional support to go through his problems (especially with his sister) and becomes insanely concerned whenever his life is in danger and would do pretty much anything to protect him. And up till halfway in season 2, she was more spontaneous in showing emotion than he was - she literally ran and jumped into his arms when they met in 2x05. She had been the first to make all the early gestures of friendship, trust and support. As for it somehow supposedly not being romantic (yeah, right) - one just has to see how she is hugging him or her face when he touches her hands or her face, or the way they gaze adoringly into each other's eyes...not to mention her "platonically" checking him out in 4x06.
