This was fun, ladies. You made it so. I have felt most fortunate to have experienced two transatlantic crossings, on different lines. Enjoyed the half dozen 'days at sea' IMMENSELY; never bored nor lacking for something to do. I'm a proponent of some veteran's of numerous crossings saying -- "all the time in the world and not enough time to do it in." Perhaps it was in one of John Maxtone-Graham's excellent books. One experience gathered, not experienced on half a dozen cruises in gentler climates, more southerly routes was how violently rough the north Atlantic seas can be. "BOOM" goes the ship, CRASHING down from the height of a huge wave. . . . My Scandinavian-American great grandparents who emigrated out of Sweden and Norway in the late 19th century were invited back home by many relatives to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. That was still before jet travel. In family lore my Swedish great-grandmother would have none of it because of her awful memories of the unusually rough crossing to America. Celebrating with family and newer friends in Minnesota would do just fine. Of considerably more interest to all: In 2011 the owners of the (original) Queen Mary put on a terrific celebration of her 75th anniversary of the (original) on aboard at her permanent home in Long Beach, California since 1967. A wonderful, historic celebration with among other aspects, a dozen elderly guests relating / reciting 1930s and '40s Queen Mary experiences that were spread over a weekend; with coverage by a BBC camera crew. Thank you for the heads-up on the movie -- which I will avoid, despite its appealing-sounding, on-board setting. That first clip of Candice Bergen; as usual, it was hard to recognize her with all the gauze, soft-focus filters or Vaseline over the camera lens. And I saw that Dianne Wiest and Meryl Streep had received similar, over-the-top TLC from the filming unit's make-up, camera and lighting departments. In contrast our brave "Cup of Joe with Go" gals are fully lit, with no diffusing filters and they each look splendid and photograph most appealingly. Thank you for this report. I gather from it I would enjoy, quite enthusiastically, the Queen Mary 2 crossing experience.
Hahaha... SC, we loved getting to read your comments. We especially were giggly when reading your description how they filmed the movie and all the lighting tricks. And by the way, Rosie was at that 2011 anniversary celebration with her mother! Thank you for all your comments and adding to the transatlantic conversation.
My highlights of a "crossing" aboard the QM2. 1.Sailing from New York, with the skyline of Manhattan receding behind, The Statute of Liberty, arm extended as if waving good bye, the approach to the Verrazano Bridge, with the optical illusion that there is not enough space to sail underneath. 2.The days filled with presentations, lectures and more - John Cleese talking about Monty Python's history and anecdotes, Carrie Fisher holding nothing back about her life, family, loves and Star Wars, The head of the American Film Institute talking of the nature and history of films, High Tea with Jane Seymour, a presentation in the onboard Planetarium about the position of the stars the night the Titanic sank as we sailed over the exact spot where she sank - All one one voyage! 3. All at a price 1/2 a typical business class ticket!
After watching the movie,I thought they did not do justice to the glamor of the ship. Even the two story suite featured in the film, was dimly lit and felt smaller than it actually is. This Go Travel presentation is full of fascinating trivia and beautiful video of the ship. Very well done and really motivates one to experience the Cunard experience. Bravo ladies!
Thank you ladies for this delightful video. I felt as if I was reliving my sailings aboard Queen Mary 2. Your research & knowledge add even more to this well balanced & constructive introduction of this grand ocean liner. It's always pomp & circumstance sailing in or out of New York. I wish Cunard had the terminal on the West Side of Manhattan, not Red Hook Brooklyn. Sailing under the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge is incredible, as it looks like the ship might not clear! Trans Atlantic crossings are my favorite itineraries because of all the sea days. Enjoying the ship & her many different venues as you mentioned, the dining, & the social scene that develops. My favorite places are the Chart Room, Queens Room, Carinthia Lounge, & Commodore Club. Sailing westbound, Europe to New York is better I think, because gaining those hours means more time on the ship. Again, you make these incredible videos with style & spunk. I'd love to see a video of yours about Viking Ocean Cruises. They are my FAVORITE of all the lines sailing now! Bon Voyage ladies.
Thanks for all of this wonderful feedback about your past QM2 experiences! And love the suggestion about Viking... we will actually be posting a Viking Ocean video soon on our main "Go Travel" channel. Keep a lookout!
We were on the voyage travelling eastbound home to London. Excellent crossing and impeccable service as always. We enjoy a Princess Grill Suite when we cruise with Cunard and highly recommend trying the transatlantic crossing at least once. This year on Queen Victoria scenic cruising The Sound of Mull then later in the year Queen Mary in pursuit of the Northern Lights if we’re lucky enough to see them we’ll be thrilled but if not just enjoy the luxury of our favourite ship!
After watching the video I'm longing to get back on board Queen Mary 2. Just being aboard her is something magical. We had the American Greatest Generation on board and listening to them talk about their involvement in the war was just out of this world!! Even before they came on the stage they got a standing ovation. Made some friends for life.
How amazing! We have quite a number of family who fought in WWII, so we would have found that sailing super interesting. How fantastic that you got to experience such a unique sailing... and aboard QM2, as well! Thanks for sharing.
@@ACupofJoewithGo I bet you must be proud of your family members who served!! It was one of those experiences I will never forget!! And I only found out about them after being onboard!!
I was impressed about how detailed you described the Cunard Line's history! Just a quick note, there wouldn't be a Europe to sail to if the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth hadn't been there to bring soldiers to the continent during World War II.
You three are way funny... now I want to take a crossing with you guys... I could be awesome.... this year I was planning my first ship travel but covid still being a problem 😭😭😭😭
Hahaha Thanks, JD! Nice to hear you think we would be fun company on a crossing. Yes, we are all waiting to cruise again. It should be soon as travel slowly resumes. Hope you will get to take your first ship experience soon, as well!
I love the QM2 and hope to sail on her one day, and since you Ladies didn't say "The most famouse Ocean Liner in Service" The Queen Mary 2 is not the most famouse Ocean Liner in the world. The RMS Titanic still is.
Ohhhh! So the anticipation is growing! Good things come to those who wait. I'm sure you will have an epic crossing aboard QM2. Very soon!!! We're almost there. 😎
Hi. Can anyone please tell me what brand the large white and gold tea cups are being used by the ladies? The cups appear to be quite large, and I would be able to hold them easily whilst enjoying a bigger cup of tea. 🙂
Hi there! The cups are part of a place setting. I see that similar Noritake sets are sold at a variety of major stores if you do a quick search. They are marked as "Contemporary Fine China by Noritake - Signature Gold." Hope you find some nice cups for your tea!
@@ACupofJoewithGo Hello there. Many thanks for for the reply and info. Funnily enough, I suspected they may have been Noritake, which is available here in Sydney, Australia. Wishing you ladies good health and happy travels. Regards: Tony.
@@Alexius01 Haha... Yes a few slips. Good catch! Hard to break the habit. Hope we get a few points though for our many "vessels" and "oceanliners" mentions. ;)
Those cows became dinner...wasn't funny ! Even if I were still eating meat .So sad & cray cray ! I do not wanna see anything getting killed or hear 'em screaming !! Imagine the hygiene issues ,too ! And you ladies thought that was funny !?? 😰 I am planning to cruise on this ship in the very near future with my mom & glad that we're living in a different era ! Lol I know it gets rocky ,so that's my concern 😟 I am looking forward for the champagne bar ( I do not drink really, but love champagne ,especially Laurent perier & Veuve ,Piper Heidseick champagne. And off course, the afternoon tea !! As well as the planetarium there!! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🚢🛳💕💞
No no no. Il tempo non importa. Se non andrete a Skyfall Dio non vi perdonerà mai. Magari ci metterete piú di tre giorni ma dovete farlo per Dio. Ciao ciao ciao.
The ship is getting old and boring for all 3 ships. Just came back from 16 days Cunard. It degraded a lot. food quality and quantity BAD, no lobster. especially at the Lido. Super short handed. It is at the Carnival cruise style. No dance host, no queens room Hostess, no sequence dance, no professional dancer exhibition, 8 kids running around in the dance floor while dancing, etc. will not recommend for this price (we are Diamond on Cunard, not a newbie)

Thank you, Alex! We agree... the movie really didn't do the ship justice. But, at least it did give us the chance to dream about cruising again.
I have crossed on The Q M 2 three times , please tell me where the glamour is ?
Loved the informative fun way you all shared the Cunard Line and the Queen Mary II! My bucket list just got longer! What an amazing ship!
Glad you enjoyed it! Counting the days until we start sailing again!
Save your money , if you are a dull person , The Q M 2 is for you it has miserable crew , basic decor and mediocre food at best .

I would definitely take a trip with these fine ladies on the QM2...And the movie was great!
Thanks for that. I have travelled the world and a QM2 transatlantic crossing is the best of the best. 3 completed so far and counting :-)
Wow, 3 crossings... how fantastic! Cheers until the next one!
