    The scariest thing about the Dorothy Scott case is that the caller only stopped once her remains were discovered, so what if they never found her body? He never would’ve stopped calling...

      @Starr Child
      It’s more likely that these cold case killers are being caught not because they themselves have voluntarily submitted DNA but because their relatives have done so. For example Auntie Mary is tracing her ancestors and because the killer shares some of her DNA the possibilities are narrowed to the killer being related to Auntie Mary.

    Somerton Beach Man was recently identified as a bloke called Carl Webb an electrical engineer from Melbourne. He was trying to rekindle the flame with an ex and was visiting Adelaide for that reason. The tools were work tools for instrumentation repairs and such. T. Keane was his brother in law and he may have borrowed his clothes to look good. The letters that look like a code are likely form guides for horse racing. My guess is his ex rejected him, he blew all his cash at the races and then topped himself.

    #1 Dorothy Scott's son gave an update to the case back in 2017 to a reporter doing a write-up on the cold case. It appears there was a suspect by the name of Mike Butler who among other things was: mentally unstable, involved in a cult, lived in the Santiago Mountains, had a sister who worked at the Swinger's Psych Shop that Dorothy worked and the shop owner at the time used Dorothy's father (Jacob) as a handy man and so Dorothy's parents' phone number would be known to the employees. Butler also worked at an auto shop within sight of Swinger's during the timeframe of the case. To get from Santiago Mountains to Swinger's, you would have to intersect Santa Ana Canyon Road where Scott's remains were found.

      The spider bite is strange too. Maybe it's not something we should read into too much, but I almost wonder if the two events aren't connected somehow. Like the killer set up the situation. But that's probably ridiculous, since how could he even know Dorothy would go with her coworker because she's worried

    I’ve studied anthropology AND Neolithic sociology (yes that’s a real thing 😉); after reading about and studying the Herxheim Neolithic mass grave pit discovery, here’s my crazy theory, which no one will probably find interesting or leave any comments to 😂😉 nevertheless, here it is:
    Those cannibals ate the victims practically ALIVE. It was the blood letting that killed them. If That’s what killed them, that would explain why there is no physical evidence of what killed them. Blood letting would not have shown up in the bones like blunt trauma etc., would. They probably traveled to abduct “food” from surrounding villages, which would explain why it’s a mix of people from different places, had their “dinner” then dumped the bones in the mass grave pit. I came to this hypothetical conclusion as it’s evident the bodies were NOT buried in accordance with reverent grave sites and customs found in other areas that date to the Neolithic period. The bones in Herxheim were mixed with dog bones (which showed evidence that they ate them too), and haphazardly piled in the pit site. This is definitely not indicative of the reverent Neolithic burial custom for kinsman and family. This leads me to believe these victims were seen as nothing more than food, the same as the dogs that their bones were mixed with. Think about it; when you eat that t-bone steak 🥩 and get to the bone, you don’t go out in your back yard and bury it in a coffin after thoughtfully and in accordance with custom in The positioning of the bone (the way the bones or body was positioned, in what direction etc., was often very important in the cultural aspects of kinsmen burial), after wrapping the t-bone in Burial Yarns, with their in-tact talismans and religious artifice, then proceed to give it a proper funeral, right? If you do, well I can’t help you. But the t-bone would end up in a garbage pit somewhere in a landfill; a disposal pit for the remains of ones food. 🤔 Similar cannibal pit sites have been found in the Congo and Borneo, and I believe also in Fiji. In the Congo there are still practicing cannibals, who worship ancient gods, and throw their bones in a pit, in remote places in the Congo’s dense jungle. So based on this, I believe It’s much more in line with being a disposal pit for the cannibals “food” remains than an actual ritualistic burial site. As far as the smashed relics found in the pit, I think I have the most likely theory on why they were smashed: Anything the victims had on them in regards to talismans or religious relics etc, were smashed out of superstition that vengeance would follow in revenge for the talisman holders’ deaths. You have to remember that seven thousand years ago superstition etc. was a very real way of life. They feared and worshipped numerous God’s and demigods, and they could differ from tribe colonization to tribe colonization. The cannibal tribe would have been very wary of anything resembling a talisman or relic staying in tact with the dead out of fear that the person’s god/gods would exact revenge in some way. So, those are my theories. If you read this far, thank you for your time. It really makes the most sense to me that this is the likely scenarios of how it all went down. Please respond with your own thoughts and theories. Would love to read them!

    • @shadowkat777
      @shadowkat777 5 лет назад +54

      It's odd, but I was thinking just about the same thing as you. I admittedly haven't studied human cannibalism much nor the burial practices of, for want of a better word, ancient human cultures, but it reminded me of certain predatory animals which bring prey back to their dens, eat, and then leave the bones behind or discard what they don't want. For example, there have been instances of prehistoric animal dens found with areas nearby filled with the bones of their prey, including skulls of young hominids (like that of the Taung Child which may have been killed by an eagle of some sort).
      Given most human cultures to my knowledge often had very particular funeral rites and methods, the idea of a mass pit full of cracked and gnawed bones jelled less with a place they might bury their dead and more with either straight up cannibalism culture or some sort of sacrificial/cannibalism combination. Your mentioning of known pits of the same sort seems, to me, to strengthen the theory, and I definitely agree about your theory on the smashed talismans and relics. It could've been a fear of retribution from rival gods, a way to show the cannibals' own gods their piety, or perhaps some way of obscuring the identities of their victims - to deny them a peaceful entrance into the afterlife or to avoid a more earthly sort of retribution.
      On a side note from someone intrigued with learning about the past, would you have any recommendations for books, articles, etc to view and learn from on anthropology and neolithic sociology? I always hate blindly picking sources only to find them lacking or subpar.

    Lazy, here is an unsolved mystery for you. It's suspenseful, but also strange and creepy.
    In 1997, Admiral Boorda, the US Navy Chief of Naval Operations, was all over the news for committing suicide by shooting himself in the chest. The US Navy relayed all details to the American media that Boorda killed himself "because of 2 valor medal pins he did not actually earn". But any US Veteran, like myself, does not believe this lame excuse for 1 minute!
    You see, Adm Boorda was the first US Navy CNO in history who started out enlisted, never studied at Annapolis, was Jewish, and very intelligent in helping the US Navy develop more advanced research for hi-tech warfare. Rumor was that he had ideas to make many changes in the US Navy to make sailors much more educated, have more professional attitude, and a more competitive effort so veterans would have a better chance after leaving the military.
    And it seems that his fellow flag officers at the Pentagon, most from the brotherhood of Annapolis or West Point, did NOT approve of his idealism. And all the old Cold War jerks wanted things to remain "as they were". Hence, Adm Boorda was supposedly blackmailed into suicide, to be suddenly replaced with a new Annapolis-grad to be CNO. Yet sadly, this is all speculation as there is no evidence to prove it. Boorda's suicide remains a controversial mystery to this day!

I was told 7 years or so ago by someone from the band Psyche that she was still living in NYC, but who knows now? She apparently cherishes her privacy, no-showed a concert Psyche invited her to in 2008 or so after promising she'd come. (The details may be off, this dialogue was long ago) I wish she'd come forward, I'm a big fan. I even adopted the stage name Lazarus as a tribute.

    The Sommerton Man Case has some important info that you missed. The man who’s car the book had been left in had a sister called Jestin. She had a son with the same genetic differences as the Sommerton Man, an ear and, I believe, dental deformities. These are both very rare. Her husband looked nothing like the child and she acknowledged to friends that he had “saved her” when she’d fallen pregnant out of wedlock, insinuating that he offered to marry her because she was pregnant and the father was MIA.
    Jestin was called to see the plaster cast of the Sommerton man and she is said to have become overwhelmed and almost fainted, even though she insisted that she’d never seen him before.
    Lastly, Jestin had given a former lover a copy of the Rubiat (sorry I know I spelled that wrong) when they broke up.

      They may have solved it. They put his DNA into an ancestry database, found a match, and believe they have worked the family tree backwards. He might be a man named Carl “Charles” Webb. The man has no death certificate. He also had a brother in law named Thomas Keane, which would explain the clothes with initials T. Keane on them. Webb was also a amateur poet, which is why he would have had that book with him.

    Herxheim is much less mysterious than it's made out to be here, actually. Around 450 human skulls were found in total and it's been postulated that burials took place there over the course of about 50 years during which three major battles occured in the wider region. It's a very interesting gravesite for multiple reasons and the cannibalism thing is very much considered probable as well, but it's really neither shocking nor disturbing at all.

    I read somewhere that, even though her parents eventually moved, they kept their same phone number just in case the killer called again and they could hopefully catch him eventually.
    Can you imagine getting those calls after your child had gone missing?
    You would forever wonder what she had endured during the time that she spent in the clutches of that monster, especially after the type of calls that Dorothy had been receiving.
    So awful to think about.

    The sleeping disease one is so freaky and fascinating. I really want an explanation to what could of caused it. The only thing I can come up with (and this is pretty loose thinking) is maybe there was some poorly tested product out and being widely circulated at the time that caused it? Maybe it had a chemical makeup that caused the disease in some/all consumers and then was subsequently pulled for whatever reason, causing there to not be anymore break outs. It's definitely a stretch considering I have no idea what product it could be (type of food maybe) and that if it was caused by some type of poisoning you would think that it would either be traceable or that we would have still seen cases similar enough to connect the dots.

    Q Lazzarus (Dianne Luckey) died July 19, 2022. She left behind a husband and two children. She didn't disappear mysteriously, she simply withdrew from the music industry. She took a job as a bus driver for a period of time. Judging by the date of her death, I would bet COVID had something to do with it.

I realized while watching though that (if my memory serves me correctly) this was the first “Lazy...” vid I’d ever seen and I’ve been a thankful (both for cluelessly clicking on the video and for the excellent content of this channel) ever since. I realize this is a pointless comment to anyone besides myself and hopefully the content creator of this channel if in the off chance he does see this, I simply wanted to say thank you for the hours of entertaining content you have provided myself and other viewers throughout the years. Sincerely, an appreciative subscriber - thank you. 🙏🏼

    I know this is an old video but there's a documentary on Netflix called Life Overtakes Me. It's about refugee kids that first stop eating, then stop drinking and then they just go to sleep and no one can figure out why. It's very interesting to watch. Here's the description of the documentary: Refugee children in Sweden enter a coma-like state as they face deportation. It's so sad that these poor kids have been through so much that their little bodies just shut down 😦😦

      That's what I think as well. This video doesn't tell you everything about the case, probably because it would take too long. i think he went to see his lover, who's the person that gave him the book. She has been interviewed and it's been determined that she knew more than she let on. I think it was unrequited love and he took poison and killed himself. She was already married at the time so obviously she didn't reciprocate his feelings.

      2020 Update on Beach Man:
      A professor in south Australia and journalist appealed to have the body exhumed for reinvestigation which will be conducted this year. The reasoning is because the professor believes he is married to his granddaughter. His theory is that the cause of death was actually suicide due to a failed romance. When police investigated this theory they discovered the son of the suspected lover had similar distinctive features to the man. The update can be found on ABC news.

    I have a theory about the beach death, although it's a bit of a stretch. Perhaps the man was at some kind of party or meeting, which is why he was wearing a posh outfit. Someone at the party could have poisoned him with a rare poison, as mentioned in the video. He could have begun to feel ill during his walk home and decided to sit down on the beach, then passed out and died in his sleep. With the foot shape/calf muscle thing, he could have either been a ballet dancer or a drag artist. The drag artist theory also explains the contents of the suitcase, which could have been used for designing and sewing clothes - using a bright colour like orange wouldn't be too unusual. With the code and the note, during the early 20th Century, the drag scene started to be associated with gay/LGBT people. If this man was a drag artist, it's possible he was LGBT. Since that was frowned upon at the time, it wouldn't be unreasonable for people in the community to come up with some kind of code to write letters to one another without other people figuring out what they were talking about. He may have been writing to a friend or lover in code and kept the code in a book. He took a line from the book and kept it with him on important occasions as some kind of comfort item, or so his friends would be able to identify him if something happened (although they might not have come forward with the truth for fear of being attacked). This theory also explains why someone would want him dead, possibly someone who disapproved of his identity or art form. Anyway, this is just my theory, please tell me if it's completely ridiculous.

    "On 26 July 2022, Adelaide University professor Derek Abbott, in association with genealogist Colleen M. Fitzpatrick, claimed to have identified the man as Carl "Charles" Webb, an electrical engineer and instrument maker born in 1905, based on genetic genealogy from DNA of the man's hair. South Australia Police and Forensic Science South Australia have not verified the result, but South Australia Police said they were "cautiously optimistic" about it."
