- This is a classic NHRA broadcast and will go down in history as the best Pro Stock race of all time. The conclusion to all the drama in 1994 at Houston was the "burndown" in the finals between Warren Johnson and Scott Geoffrion. This is the full event from Houston Raceway Park. Part 7 of 8.

This was the only time when watched drag racing where you would have an adrenaline rush sitting on the couch. These guys were pure racers.
This was great! The days of real Pro Stock is OVER.

It is funny to hear Warren talk about this today. He says it was all for show. I don't think WJ is that good of an actor. LOL He was genuinely angry.

Best race I ever saw was in '04 I think in the finals of the Pro Stock Challenge. A young Dave Connolly was driving for Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins and met Greg Anderson (who else) for all the money. Anderson had the edge in performance by quite a bit but he was still concerned due to Connolly's starting line prowess. "He'll steal every tooth in your head." That he did, with an insane near perfect light. Anderson chased him down and had just enough room to nip him at the line by .0001"! No, not .001" it was .0001" in the tower it reads to 4 places. A dejected Connolly walked away muttering, "I've lost 3 races (finals) and they don't even add up to a thou." (.001")

Reading the comments here there is one fact. Wayne County was not competitive after the supposed break in which can only mean one thing. And one person here claims they couldn't be using nitrous and in the next sentence says if they were it wasn't against the rules. Which is it?
Randy, watch the interview with Wayne co., and do some fact checking, Wayne co. stated the NHRA was making SUPPRISED visits to their shop, this was when wj made claims the were using nitrous, I believe when Darrell's car shot a flame out the hood scoop after the distributor shaft broke. Funny though, not long after Darrell's incident, wj had the same thing happen to him, the distributor shaft broke shooting a flame out of HIS scoop! NEVER heard ANYONE claim, nor did the NHRA do supprise visits to wj's garage to check for nitrous! SORE LOOSER COMES TO MIND! When in doubt, claim cheating when you loose!

Ya, look at the performance advantage GM has over Dodge and ford, no wonder no one drives a Dodge or ford. Now they changed the rules so you can put another manufacturers motor in your car! GOD forbid they choose a FI system that works with ALL of the manufacturer's motors and not give gm the performance advantage! Look at Ken Black's team, for a year and a half they had at least 1/10th of a second over ANY other gm car, and I believe at least a 1/2 second over Dodge and ford. Giving gm the advantage is nothing new. I DO NOT WATCH NHRA ANYMORE!
Glenn Falzo they kept adding weight to gliddens cars in the early 80’s too. That old cleveland was whooping too much ass that gm mandated the 500” rule. Coincidently they “gm” already had a heads up and had the blocks ready.
Pro stock is dead and has been for years. Hopefully the new FX class replaces it, basically tube chassis drag pack, copo and cobra jets that will run 6's.

Around 40 times the Dodge's were tore down by tech inspectors, and not once did they find any sign of cheating. Not once.
They didnt spray that much, it was like 40hp, just enough for a 10th, fogged over the carb

@@OttoByOgraffey BS. They were caught and suspended and the supposed break-in was just a cover story because Dodge was the main sponsor of NHRA at the time. There is no other story that even makes sense remotely. There's no way someone just broke into that shop and then beat holes in the blocks. There's also no way it took that long for them to prep another block or two so they could continue racing. There's also only one explanation as to why they could not run anywhere near what they ran previously once they did return. Only one explanation makes sense. You know it, I know it, and everyone else knows it.

Wayne County Speed Shop destroyed their own engines.
Glidden's kids PROVED to NHRA how Wayne County Speed Shop was using nitrous. Wayne County Speed Shop was warned by NHRA that the next race would include an inspection that included the bare chassis and roll cage. Wayne County Speed Shop then staged the "break in". Blamed every supplier in racing for not supplying them parts, and claimed to be working on a small bore long stroke combination. They *NEVER* returned to their previous performance level.
They *CHEATED* Warren Johnson out of dozens of wins, #1 qualifier awards, and at least 1-2 championships.
Wayne County Speed Shop will *FOREVER* be known for cheating in Pro Stock with nitrous oxide. Complete with at least one nitrous oxide induced good scoop explosion on the starting line
The nitrous bottle was in a welded ballast bar. The line ran through the cage to a hood pin. The hood pin had o-rings, and fed two tubes fiberglassed into the hood and hood scoop, they sprayed into the carburetors.

The Slick 50 name got sold but the formula wasn't.

I'm genuinely curious to know how much authority the starter has if they don't stage and continue to sit? I'm sure neither Scott nor WJ cared whether or not Buster was bitchin' at them.
Scott needs to learn how to drive? WJ trained him and Scott tree’d him pretty good. WJ was a jerk and didn’t like getting his rear end handed to him. And he never respected Glidden because he got stomped regular by Bob. Arrogance at its finest.

Not enough spray at the end. Wayne county had some good people but not good enough to do what they did without the spray.
Scott Miller i hung around Koffels place those day's Dave Scott and Richard where playing chess when Chevy boy's where playing checkers. 3 year's ahead of there time, it took 5 years for them to catch up. Easy way out to blame it on nitrous. But didn't Chevy guy Jerry Eckmen get caught and suspended first using nitrous
I'm no one to indulge in conspiracy, but the oddities surrounding their ET/MPH ratio change, the change in behavior of their engines, the Gliddens building a car to present tech on how it was hidden, then suddenly the bizarre break-in that reeked of an inside job that destroyed what needed to be to halt the imminent nitrous investigation..... so much didn't add up for the Wayne County team to be completely on the up and up.
Eckman's story added up 100%, though he may have withheld just a tad.... we'll never know. Big difference.

Sudden change in ET and speed? There was nothing odd about it. frankly, it was WJ who was consistently faster than WC in 1994, it was WJ inability to put it all together on race day that cost him the championship!
Remember WJ won the first 3 of 4 races! Stop blaming it on nitrous don’t forget nitrous wasn’t prohibited in the rule books in 1994, in fact it wasn’t even mentioned at all!

@@scallen3841 no the dodge guys were cheating and had some sketchy cocaine tranporting being done by alderman which is why their shop was vandalized and all spare motors were destroyed.
