I've had this for 3 weeks now, absolutely love this device and I had no problems with the screen. Sure the OLED may look better, but one thing to note is there are problems which occur with OLED screens such as dead pixilation's, burn in's and just so many things. LCD imo was a good choice, and also the slim comes with a micro usb port and longer battery life, which is very convenient for me. I've played uncharted golden abyss and Rayman on it, and they still looks beautiful.

My hopes for the PSVita 3000 are: Longer Battery Life Same Ports as Vita 2000 OLED Screen Thinner and lighter than PSV 2000 Same design as PSVita 1000(With some Improvements) etc.
In my play testing, I never found the difference in app/game start up to be significant. So I didn't bother mentioning it. In fact, navigating the OS on the new model is much smoother. Like locking/waking the Vita, it never has the second stall like the OLED model. But I don't have every game ya know, so I'm sure there could be some games that load slower.
Nice review :) I have the current Vita but I'm tempted to sell and 'upgrade' to this one. It just looks comfier to hold with the rounded front edge and the larger grip pads on the back. My fingers always naturally rested just beyond the grip pads on the current Vita, not so great when playing old PS1 titles with buttons mapped there. Think this would solve my problem. The USB charging as well is a massive improvement which could lead me to use my Vita more knowing I have chargers everywhere!
Ran out of characters... The screen was the biggest concern of mine, but my OLED, (like most I believe) suffers from that muira (sp?) problem where in dark scenes in games I have big noticeable blotches on the display that never go away. The LCD looks great and the viewing angles look solid from your video, no dimming of brightness off angle which is fantastic. I think in all honesty I'd notice the improvement from this display more than the negatives. We're all happy with our phone LCD's! ;)
2:29 It's not just the OLED screen that looks sharper but the actual camera the footage of it was filmed on. If you pause this and compare them side by side you will see the 'PSVITA' Logo on the Vita 2000 looks much less clear as well, leading me to believe that they were not filmed with the same camera or same settings atleast. Sure there is a difference between the screens but not as dramatic as this 'side by side' test would lead you to believe.
has anyone come across any issues with the left or right thunbsticks being stuck in one direction? my right thumbstick is stuck in the left direction, the thumbstick itself moves freely but any game utilizing the right thumbstick is pretty well unplayable. any suggestions? please help.
Just got my Vita 2000. Absolutely love it. Remote play on my ps4 is very smooth, battery life is good, and overall just a good wellmade product for the gamer on the go. Definitely recommend it.

The LCD is easier on the eyes, recovers more detail in darker areas due to the lower contrast ratio and produces more accurate colours. It is also more power-efficient. On the other hand, some people may prefer the over-the-top colours and contrast ratio on the original, and that is well-justified. Whatever you pick, they are both great displays in their own right. -Original Vita Owner
The LCD actually provides a better experience for me as the OLED kinda hurt my eyes in long haul with the device and LCD screen is brighter. However, viewing angle is not as good so if others want to watch you playing games, they might find it difficult (lol). And probably you won't notice the difference as time goes by and as long as you don't put those two side by side And surprisingly, the battery is not just a little bit longer, it's like ~2 hours longer on my slim (same condition with my phat), which is just over-the-top. I got over 6 hours playing with brightness at ~70% and download in background, which will only last for like less than 3 hours with the original one.
Well the LCD has significantly longer battery life, 20% thinner, 15% lighter, and the micro USB charge port. OLED is amazing but just not worth it over the many more convenient pros that the Slim has over the OLED. Anyone going for the original vita is ONLY going for that OLED that has significantly lower battery life with a very specific and uncommon charge port. I won't bash it too hard on it being thicker and weighing more since that actually won't be a problem for me personally......
I want the Vita slim, but I managed to snag the 1000 model for cheap so I'm sticking with that. If I ever have a couple hundred bucks to burn I might buy the slim.

I've already pre ordered it since more than likely it won't be on shelves for long and there isn't going to me a lot more produced knowing Sony. I still have my original Vita and PSTV. The first time I picked up the Vita Slim I really did not like the feel of it. It felt very cheap like to the point where I could snap it in my hands and I'm not a big person at all. Even still the aqua blue seems almost like a novelty and I'm the type of person who will leave a system at another house to give it some love when I visit. But the screen man. I gotta know if it's just that bad. And do you prefer to play with the 2000 now or the original?

I like the old one better. And I have it too. The thickness gives you more of an advantage if you have bigger hands. Almost like the roundness on the psp 1000 compared to the psp 2000 or 3000.
Awesome review! When Sony announced this new PS Vita I just purchased the original. I still much prefer it from the Vita 2000 despite some of it's must have features. I have a question in regards to the screens though, how do the viewing angles compare? On the original Vita pretty much any angle you position it to the screen is still more or less fully visible.
I just purchased the 1000 series Vita (Wi-Fi with 3G), great sale going on in the UK. I bought the bundle with Killzone Mercenary, Virtua Tennis 4, and 8gb memory card for £139.99. PSP Vita Wi-Fi only still retails £179.99. Happy to own the 1000 due to much cheaper price and better screen than waiting for 2000.
The 1GB internal memory and micro-usb is a welcome addition. I absolutely HATED that I couldn't even play a game ( nevermind saving progress) without first buying a memory card. Also its nice to be able to use micro-usb for charging now.

I'm probably gonna get a lot of flak from the OLED fans but the Vita 2000 just feels so much better in hand for me, and the screen looks just fine, the downgrade doesn't bother me. I think people really need to just check one out in person, everyone just writes it off because of the screen. But, to answer your question, my OLED Vita still uses my main PSN, Vita 2000 has my second one. I'll probably review games on the 2000 when I know I won't get all the trophies. :P
if only there is a way to take the oled screen out of the 1000 model and put it on the 2000 model the new vita 2000 would be perfect. I'm sure you could do it.
The one think that puts me off about the new vita is its apparent longer loading times, I watched it in an other comparisons review and the time the new vita took to load games seemed very frustratingly longer

I've done a lot of research on both the PCH 1000 and 2000 models and I really like both. Which would you recommend? I also sort of want that added 3G feature, but to my understanding the PS Vita Slim does not have that function. Is the 3G at all worth it? Which system should I get? How should i get started? What are the significant differences and advantages/disadvantages between the 3G and wifi only versions? Help?
the 3g is not worth the money, you can't play multiplayer using it, you can only browse the Internet etc. I have a Vita 1000, and at the moment I am considering trading it in against a new slim model

So I got myself my first Vita the other day (Borderlands 2 bundle) and I've been absolutely loving it! I've been going around seeing other's opinions and thoughts about the system, but i've come across something... does the model number ("PCH2000") change per region? I watched the IGN in Uk video prior to this and they had the "PCH2004" Vita, in this video you have the "PCH2000" and the model I have is the "PCH2001".
I had a similar error (would not connect online), but only with 3g, wi-fi worked great, I had to send it in for service and they replaced,it was defective. I also discovered that with the psvita 3g (with this error) does not work the 3g (but the wi-fi work well) and those with the wi-fi does not work the wi-fi.
So I see the back still gets scratched hella easy. I've had my Vita for 5 days and it already has light scratches. :( getting a back protector from Amazon for that reason.
Just 'one more hour' is a 20% increase in battery life from the original Vita. Both attract fingerprints and scratches quite easily, there's not much of a difference there.

I have been thinking of getting a ps vita for christmas but no matter how many reviews I look at I still can't make up my mind. I love the colors on the original ps vita and I've played it before on my friend's. Even though I love the bright colors the over saturation part that people mentions kind of concerns me as well as my friend said sometimes it'll give her a headache while playing. Also I can agree the ps vita 1000 does seem to die fast but I like the bulkiness. Some things that interest me about the ps vita slim however is the natural look, the usb, and longer battery life. However some people say it has a yellowish tinge. I know this sounds ignorant to go by other people's opinions but I don't want to make the wrong decision. Suggestions anyone?
Definitely slim. First off it has about 3 more hrs of battery life. Second you can use your phone charger for the slim just in case you lost its original charger. Also its lighter so it doesnt hurt ur hand when holding it up. Also the screen isnt that bad and barley noticible of the yellowish. And its great for outside. So if i was u i would ho for the borderlands 2 bundle with the 8gb sd stick

I use the pdp grip with triggers for my vita 1000, it makes it much more comfortable. I highly recommend it!

The lowered processing power oled to lcd made the already there 1g avil.Removed ps4 port and still ask for 200 because the og is a $500 unit
