@@robertdiepold2242 Rebuilding your life after a tragic lost is never easy. Death by suicide leaves so many unanswered questions, sometimes there's anger towards the person who died. Or those closest to them feel they missed the warning signs. People closest to us sometimes hide their pain. Hopefully, you were able to get to a place where you have compassion for them wanting to end their suffering, even if you disagree with their choice. Everyone grieves in their own way, be kind to yourself.
She's the literally the only star that catches my attention. And virtually every friend WAY back in our youthful high school years had proudly procured an LP (record) featuring some potty-mouthed performance of hers. 🍸
Same here. After nearly 8 years, it still hurts that she isn't here. I adored her. I didn't know her, never met her, but I loved her. She was incredible and irreplaceable.
Joan Rivers is the only celebrity death that wounded me. When I was a little boy, she was the first person I understood whose job it was to make people laugh, but I loved her too - the way a kid would love a favorite aunt and I knew she was smart. Somehow, even in my child's mind, I knew she was highly intelligent. I miss her every day.
"You can turn it around" I love this. She deserved to win and I remember this. Really a beautiful moment for her and her daughter, Melissa. Jeez, I miss her.
U kidding? Or you mean there will never be another as in there will never be another with a more evil heart and horrible soul as hers? And I truly hope there won't be! For now, the world is a much better place without such poison! Good riddance!
Harriet A as Joan herself would say "Oh grow up!"...Take a joke. She made millions of people smile and laugh. What the fuck have you done in your life that's comparable?
So making people laugh is such a 'noble' cause now and makes a person more worthy? Pleaaaaase, give me a break! Are U 4 real?? And you don't even know me to be able to say I've done nothing 'comparable', as if there was anything in her I'de want to have in common anyway! I want to be as far apart from her as pos in everything that is to do with her! She had a stupid, nasty, disgusting and vulgar 'sense of humour' that mostly involved belittling others and hurting their feelings! I would hate to be able to make some people 'laugh' at the expense of others hurt feelings! And wishing death on others and saying they 'deserve to die' really got her swift justice from the Almighty who showed us soon after saying such c**p, who REALLY deserved to die!
She may have made some idiots laugh but she herself will cry MUCH in her grave now! She lead a very sinful wasteful and meaningless life doing everything opposite to what is known as 'good' or 'right'!
Dear Sir, I could not agree more. In fact, after typing my own comment I scrolled down and read yours- it appears we share the same sentiments ! Anyway, I swear I did not copy your comment !
Johnny Carson cut her dead after paying her peon wages, never telling her what a good job she did as guest host and when she tried her own talk show CARSON STILL HADN'T GIVEN HER A CONTRACT and so in no way, shape or form did she 'betray'. him. When she guest hosted the Tonight Show she had higher ratings than Johnny himself (!). I think this is what triggered his total hate for her. Another fallacy is that Joan's Fox show had poor ratings. The ratings were quite good.
THANK YOU for that. I remember years ago when it all went down how everyone got the story wrong. Also, she had seen a list of Carson's possible replacements when he would retire and she was not on it. And there was really no excuse for that seeing that she was his guest host.
Joan Rivers is on record saying she was waiting on a contract from NBC in 85-86 not Carson to continue as the guest host, I know it may sound weird as Carson basically owned the Tonight Show at that point per his contract. Check out Late Night Wars Rivers v Carson she states this and this is when Fox approached her. I believe Rivers was wrong in not consulting Carson about this prior but it was her husband Edgar Rosenberg who advised her to keep it quiet as it would have leaked the whole deal would have been dead and so would her career. I believe Joan regrets not advising Carson beforehand and he possibly would have been a good conduit with NBC.
Her daytime show was really good, in fact great, she looked so comfortable doing it each day, and perhaps finally had some sense of contentment in her life at that time. We lost her way too soon!
The more I watch Joan Rivers the more I like her for how real and human she was… she was one of a kind, hope she is in heaven making St. Peter laugh when she arrives at the pearly gates
I'm thinking back to 27 years ago, and I'm not sure we knew how iconic Donahue, Oprah and Joan Rivers were. I can't think of hosts today that will have a similar legacy.
I watch this for many reasons. The main reason is that I love Joan Rivers and was devastated by her death. But when she talks about her husband raised awareness on suicide. I cry every time i see this.
RIP Joan you will be missed..Such a great legend and a comedian Icon..Who loved her fans and took the time for them..When I'm feeling down will watch your reruns..💕🙏🕊😇
She brought so much happiness during my teenage years. I met and had a small conversation with her outside of a Broadway theatre in New York, she was carrying spike. She was in the Neal Simon play.... she was superb.
This is a beautiful moment and such an inspirational heartfelt speech. I just love Joan Rivers. She was bigger than life and despite her tragedies she did "turn things around". And she carved a path for strong women in the entertainment industry. God bless you, Joan.
Joan rivers was one hell of a woman and I admire her greatly! My favorite moments are when she shows her vulnerable side and behind all that humor she just a lovely woman.
"you CAN turn things around" such a short but incredibly inspirational quote from her husband. Looking back at her career it really is amazing the way Joan Rivers was able to overcome the obstacles that came her way from getting into the business, being "canceled' by Hollywood, and of course staying on top in an industry of ageism until the end.
Joan is/was extraordinary. To overcome what she went through, while making everyone laugh isn't easy. She stayed to true to herself, & never lost sight of where she was going. RIP queen of comedy, you're missed terribly 🙏🙏!!!!#thatPART
I know she gets a lot of hate, but if you take the time to learn her story you'll understand what a remarkable woman she was a what a wonderful legacy she has.
Ms Rivers never fully got the flowers she deserved. Ms Rivers, along with the likes of Mr Carlin, should have been awarded the Mark Twain Prize, Kennedy Center Honors , and much more. Ms Rivers is a true LEGEND, she brought us so much joy and laughter for over 50 years and blessed us with her wit, charm and beauty.
Wow.....Jeff Smith was the only one to give her a standing ovation. Says so much about the type of people that are REALLY in the biz. She is and will always be a LEGEND. Love you Joan!
Listening to Joan talk about everything that led up to this is heart-breaking. This must have felt like one of the biggest redemption moments for her. ❤
We miss you Joan and even in death your Haters are still talking about you. You obviously did something right! It's when people stop talking about you that u know there was no Impact. What an honest and heartfelt speech she gave here, u can tell it was all heart! Joan you will forever remain in our Hearts! You were and will always be "Irreplaceable and Unforgettable! "
This acceptance speech is up there with the best. I missed the Joan from this period in time. She had her reasons and made a drastic change in looks, styling, way of speech, mannerisms etc., etc.,..... and moved forward. No one can blame her, or criticize her, but I did forevermore miss 'this' Joan
All the people who think she was just a horrible b*tch, had no heart, and wasn't very nice, need to watch this. Truly honest, and heartfelt. Her public persona was nothing like the her character in real life. I'm just reading "Last Girl Before Freeway" and I previously had no idea how wonderful a person she really was in private life. She was incredibly selfless, and loyal. You couldn't have a better boss, or friend, or mother.
That "girl" is Marlo Thomas, star of "That Girl," a sitcom from the 1960s. She's Phil Donahue's wife and daughter of Danny Thomas. She continues to raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital that her father started.
Love Joan Rivers! It's so nice to see that the other nominees were so happy to see her win.No animosity! I can watch Joan over and over again. She makes me laugh and feel good! So sad she is not with us but she will never ever be forgotten. Thanks to RUclips I watch Joan's comedy and shows all the time. Great medicine for the soul. Thank u Joan for always making me laugh!Making the world laugh! RiP! We will always love u!!!🙏❤️
I’m looking through all the comments and everyone genuinely loved her. She was real. She earned every time as someone stated, and through all that she went to nightclubs and worked her ass off even in her 70s. Miss you Joan.
I have seen this many times. Today I thought about when Jesus said to turn the other cheek. I. can not imagine what Joan was going through but she chose to forgive and keep her eye on the future. What a Great example Joan. Don't live in Anger and Hate.
i remember back when I was a student at HARVARD and Joan marched by in a parade on campus with ridiculously off-colored green toned bleached hair. I wondered why a successful celebrity couldn't get a decent bottle blonde job. Now I know it doesn't matter. she was always fabulous despite the horror's of her double processed monthly nightmares.
this speech still bring me to tears....a lot of people don't realize the pain behind the laughter, sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.
TOTALLY AGREE 💘💘
As somebody who lost a friend due to suicide, I can only imagine the pain she went through. So glad she won !!

Crying now 😢 I met Joan in London
She befriended me… invited out and the rest is all a wonderful memory of her legacy.
"You Can turn things around"- A quote that would be in my heart forever. Thanks Joan!
She also said: "You're alive, there's still hope!"
I know we've lost a lot of big celebrities in recent years, but this one really pains me. I absolutely adored Joan. She was a trailblazer.

I can never watch this without crying
Same
Me too
I just watched it & am balling 😂😭 one of the hardest fighting/working women in history
ditto ps: ur so handsome!
Me too. She is so elegant. Head to toe and beautiful .
This will forever be the Joan Rivers moment I'll always remember
That was Marlo Thomas.
Because you were in the audience that day 😂😂😂😂.
"You Can Turn Things Around".... you have to know to get through the bad times.....so many bad times.
She beat out some pretty heavy competition. She's up there giving God some much needed laughter now.
God? I think she will be more happier with Lucifer down there hahahaha

The bitch was in her 80's. She was done
not done's right...I sometimes muse how she'd get a kick out of deconstructing this germfare prescribed by kleptoparasitic banksters......
She passed away way too young. She was in good health.
"You can turn it around" I love this. She deserved to win and I remember this. Really a beautiful moment for her and her daughter, Melissa. Jeez, I miss her.
Joan Rivers was amazing. Her death feels like losing a part of our being. She brought so much laughter and joy. You will be missed queen ;(

I was fortunate to meet Joan Rivers backstage at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas in the early 80's! There will never be another one like Joan!
