- We visit Messer Rogers Cemetery in Kentucky to once again show you all some cemeteries unique to my area. I’ll also explain where I’ve been. Thank you all for watching.

It's also a custom in Alabama from Mother's Day to August for Decoration. I'm 54 and I've been to cemeteries for Decoration my whole life. And sadly, that's where I go to visit all my aunts, uncles and parents now.

When I was a little girl, Decoration Day was the day we all got new dresses and shoes and it was the day people visited with family and friends. I thought it was boring back then but today I would love to go back to just one Decoration Day.

I have Loretta Lynn's cookbook. Along with recipes, she includes stories of her life both professional and personal. In it, she mentioned how much "Decoration Day" was a huge deal for the family and community.

we decorate the graves in central Illinois...i have been going to the cemeteries since i was a young child and now that i am in my 50s i still go and decorate the graves of my family and we still share with each other the stories about our relatives and what they did in there lives..it is good to share with the younger generation and to show them where their family is buried and what they contributed in their time on this earth

So glad you are back!!!!!!! "Decorating" Graves is a big thing in Missouri too. I think calling it "decorating" is appropriate. Memorial day used to be called "Decoration Day". My dad was diagnosed with lymphoma right in mid December in 2013. They gave him 6 months to live.....he's been cancer free now for over 6 years.

Hello From Edmonton, Alberta Canada. I wanted to say thank you for your cemetery tours I really enjoy them and they history of the grave sites that you provide. I really love how the sites are very pretty and decorated. In Edmonton, Alberta Canada were not allowed to such things to our loved ones graves except for putting flowers in the vases that are provided on the headstones. Were only allowed to leave fresh flowers no fake ones. Thank you again please keep going as I love different cemeteries from different countries.

My dad was a gravedigger n he always had fascinating stories over his 40 plus years working there it summit view cemetery in guthrie Oklahoma my childhood home was next to the old territorial jail history is so interesting stay blessed

Memorial Day was known as Decoration Day for years. As a kid in Ohio I helped my Grandma carry homegrown flowers to the cemetery every year! Along with that came old stories.

What a beautiful place! We have a fairly large cemetery at the end of our "road" that is drive through often, but the one you showed us is even more beautiful. I always loved driven through Kentucky and seeing all the white fences with horses grazing on the hills. We live in the flat part of Ohio so we usually get to see cows. Love your videos and prayers for your father.

I know a Pastor named Rogers and you might be fascinated to know that he bears a resemblance to your Great Great Grandfather. This is such a well maintained cemetery...lots of beautiful flowers. I noticed the infant Rogers headstone. Was that his child? What breathtaking scenery! I love the horses! Like Tonya, I am a singer. Do you have any recordings of her singing? What kind of music did she like?How is your Father's health these days? I will keep him in my prayers.

Great video as always. Sorry to hear about your dad. I took care of my dad when he had prostate cancer for 10 months. I'm glad to say that he is doing well now. But the closest cancer doctors were over 4 hours away so we spent alot of time on the road. Prayers for you and your dad. Hope that he gets well soon.

Continued Prayers for your Dad!! I know exactly what you are going through and talking about. On March 6th my Dad was admitted to the hospital only to undergo a double heart bypass 4 days later. For the next Month and a half I was driving 2 hours every other day to see that Dad was going to follow up doctors appointments, getting my Mom to the grocery store, getting to her doctor appointment, etc. It does take the wind and energy out of you and you wonder how you will find the energy to keep going, but somehow you find it and you keep going. Many blessings and safe travels to you!!

Your Kentucky culture on the cemeteries is the same here in Italy Chris, we put always flowers frequently, change with the period of Christmas or the day of the deads, spring or summer, and for the anniversary of birthday or death.. clean the grave, and take care of it. Me and my family (mum or dad) we do always these things on the 4 graves of my grandparents! 👏🏻 when I saw a rare grave without flowers make me sad.. you think that the family isn’t still alive or is forgotten by the recent members of the family ..

Prayers for your dad. My mom's maiden name is Rogers spelled without the d. Her family has ancestors from Kentucky i have a 4th times great uncle buried in clay Kentucky name of William rogers. My great grandfather was named levi was located in Missouri there is cemetery there called rogers cemetery. Dont know if we are related there is a lot of rogers out there lol 😆 take care

@@Whittdocs i need to look more into my tree, as of uncles and aunts children. There is a ton. My grandpa Jack had 11 siblings. Lol rogers family procreate a lot. I use to have the app from ancestry about who famous related too well a ton of ex presidents going back George Washington. On both sides of my mom's. Her mom's side had 10 children and as I go in past I see lots of kids from every great great grandpa and so on.

I can top this one! My Great Grandfather married a lady, she died so he married her younger sister; then she died and he married the youngest sister; all 4 are buried together!!!!! Pat
