      They took a great and impactful first season and concluded it with the washed out Marvel plot: Time Travel, Other Universes, Big Fan Service Fight at the end, Shipping characters making out, ... People are as blind as God of War Ragnarok when it first came out, probably will come to terms later with the fact that the finally did not pay off.

    Season 2 is rushed? yes, but man there are so many flaws in your video, okay let me point it out, Jayce speech doesn't united Piltover and Zaun, look at Sevika and the Batguy leaving out the room, the one that united Zaun and Piltover are probably Jinx and Ekko at eps 9, Wild Runes doesn't get explained? dude, did you even watch the whole show? Jayce explained it to Ekko. Maybe you can't comprehend what happened in eps 7 even after watching it 2 times, Jayce saw what the Arcane can do to the people of Zaun and Piltover, at the start he saw Piltover and Zaun is f*cked up, and he got to explore it and he found out the statue thingy, that turns out to be alive, and he learned that the statue thingy is used to be the people of Zaun and Piltover, and Jayce got to meet Viktor at the end of his time travel and Jayce realized that Viktor dream is to make people perfect through the arcane, but turns out arcane power is limited, and even after Viktor turned into a "demigod" he still can't escape aging, and aging is maybe one of the reason why Arcane power is limited. and Viktor goals is explained enough through the show, Viktor was born with his limping legs, and he found the hexcore, and he found out that these hexcore can cure people, so Viktor just trying to help those who is in need, if your question is why? well because he alr suffered enough from those limping legs and he usde to live in Zaun, and he know how does it feel to have a disability even if you have talent, and his goal is to erase those disability just like what he did in act 2, and no, Viktor is not being controlled by the Arcane, he's getting controlled by his ambition, and he's not evil, he just a guy that trying to reach his goal, but for Jayce he's evil because he alr see what the Arcane will do in the future, and Ambessa trying to kill Mel? bro, if she really want to kill Mel those soldier would go ganging up against Cait and Mel, And the ending here is alr great, every character got their own ending, Vi and Cait got to be together, Jinx sacrifices herself to save her sister and she dies happy with Vander, Ambessa dies knowing that Mel is still care her mother, and Ambessa also know that Mel is already growing stronger just like what she wanted her daughter to be, Singed, well you know he got the best ending, Piltover and Zaun conflict is reduced by adding Sevika to the council, Jayce and Viktor got to see what is the peak of Hextech can do, and they dies as a partner and a scientist, Heimer got to die as a Scientist who helped his pupil, Ekko got the bittersweet ending because he's alone now in this universe, but hey he alr got the taste of jinx in eps 7, so yeah, for me Season 2 is amazing, but is it better than season 1? no, but Arcane still a great show, hell i would say that Arcane is the best video game adaptation that ever existed.

      Yeah ok, but why the actual f*ck did Jayce kill Victor AFTER he talks to his future version who explained him everything? And Jayce tells Victor in THE LAST EPISODE about it?!? That makes the last 4 episodes pointless

    • @zrusit9640
      @zrusit9640 5 дней назад +54

      Some of his points stand. The Piltover vs Zaun conflict got completely sidelined, because of the existential threat from Viktor. Winning that war got Zaun a representative in the council, but surely did not resolve the conflict. Sevika is only one in the council representing Zaun, vast majority of the council is made of Piltoverians.
      I agree that the danger of hextech was showcased well enough. So did Viktor's motivations as you pointed out.
      The wild runes/hexcore anomaly did not get properly explained, though. It got sort of explained by Jayce when talking to ekko, something about passing a tome with the angrily voice, but that's about it.
      All in all he is right that the season was rushed, it should've gotten few extra episodes, perhaps entire season to set it up properly. It was still good and to me it's the best show I've ever seen. It just could've been better.

      The AMOUNT of characters that to me that felt all of a sudden not caring about another character throughout the entire show...😢 Not to say it was bad writing. I'm not sure tbh. Like am I just biased that every little interaction and word to me matters? Because I love jinx a lot. And I really wanted vi to love her so much. But sometimes it felt like vi prioritized cait over jinx even at the beginning. Sometimes forgeting ekko too even tho there's no reason for her to put ekko aside or something since he's what vi thinks to be on the good side of things. But she always calls out for Cait. And maybe Im the one who just thinks family always comes first before lovers- as in jinx is your sister no matter what. And I would've preferred if vi had more of a clear and longer arc of always caring about her sister. Or just thinking/mentioning her atleast- like plz I feel like she barely remembers her at this point. And another character that randomly I feel like her caring of him is dropped out of nowhere when before they were having something between them is jinx when it comes to ekko. In ep7 she seems to be interested in him like how he's always been with her- atleast before he had given up on her. But back to their original verse jinx in the last episode felt like she forgot of ekko when he was the one who saved her from her self- or talked some sense into her. DANG IT THE GUY EVEN DREW AN X ON HIM FOR YOU and you don't have the decency to show up next to him in the ending (that's if jinx really did survive the blow up) like you just left ekko so patheticly sad and alone thinking... Okay I'm just bitter sweet about it tbh 😂 but no you're right I feel like they keep cutting character interactions and that's just my favourite part... Like I watch the show just for them. It feels like arcane sometimes just focuses on plot and rushing so much. Ep7 and ep5 were my favourite of all time just because it was slower pacing and people were actually conversing.

Cait is insane between wanting to put jinx in a bodybag and not wanting to put her in a bodybag. If you want to put jinx in a bodybag, maybe don't bring the girl you think is going to prevent you from putting jinx in a bodybag.
      Are the enforcers absolutely crap? How did that attack happen, did Ambessa bribe all of the enforcers, guess Marcus was far from the only traitor there. They have no way of protecting for air, nobody thinks it is weird that a cop they have never seen is just walking bags around. They are shit.

    I feel like “ruin” is a pretty strong word for season 2 Arcane. I don’t think it ruined it (even if they tried, season 1 is just that strong). I think it’s such a complex story that they tried to fit into a time frame that was not suitable. Maybe make each episode 50 minutes, adding a good hour to the whole season to add in more time to breath. I know in reality that’s probably an additional million dollars but imagine.
    Also season 7 is a good episode. It adds to the tragedy of the current circumstances now that we know what could’ve been.

    • @kevinreimer4350
      @kevinreimer4350 4 дня назад +4

      I agree with you, but one additional hour wouldn't have made it. The season was rushed not only during the end, but already starting with episode 1. Nothing felt natural anymore, they kept introducing new characters instead of just focusing on all the already exising plots and side-plots. By the end I just wanted it to end because I was no longer emotionally attached. The first season will still stay to my favorite of all time

    • @stonythewoke9921
      @stonythewoke9921 3 дня назад

      for the most part, season 2 was better than season 1. s1 had enough plotholes and meaningless character interactions, the whole thing with vander trying to kill silco in the water flashback? never explained, goes against everything else we learned in that season. it just serves as a construed conflict. many loose plotstrands from season 1 haunt season 2 and they never get resolved. but act 3 of season 2 really falls apart and make it hard to gloss over the main weakness of the show: bad and lazy writing, incessant use of generic tv and movie tropes as a replacement for substance and story.

    • @Thatdoginme_m3
      @Thatdoginme_m3 9 часов назад

      Being rushed absolutely ruined the season. Sn 2 introduce way too much too quickly, deviated from the themes that made sn 1 interesting, falls into overused Marvel cliches and let's down the previously interesting characters by forgetting their motivations.
      This could all have been avoided if they gave the show another season but for some inexplicable reason they decided to cram 2 seaosns worth of story into 9 episodes.

    I felt like the whole season was a bit rushed. The pacing was definitely different than in season 1. Not all story arcs of season 2 were rushed but most of them were when compared. Also the strenght of season 1 was it’s focus on characters instead of the plot. Where as season 2 had to side line that as well because of the rushed pacing.
    Still a good show over all though. I’d just rate season 1 a 10/10 and 2 a 7/10.

Arcane S1 was a MASTERPIECE but season 2 might have had better animation, soundtrack, etc., but the pacing was filled with issues and a lot of writing problems. Honestly it’s still better than most modern slop that’s come out recently, but that should be a given/standard and not a positive to say its flaws aren’t flaws. “It’s imperfection’s make it better” no it doesn’t 😂 now every time I hear “what could have been from episode 9 of S1 it’s gonna hit even harder because of what could have been with this season.

      Her brother died cuz of the black rose ,although cuz of the weeks between arcs it’s understandable not to put together the full explanation together (I don’t exactly 100% know myself ,just kinda was implied by ambessa and black rose that the black rose did it) ,Mel appears to be a witch because ambessa got busy w some guy and I assume he had magic powers ,my assumption is that they wanted to recruit Mel because ambessa wouldn’t kill her daughter ,cuz family etc but if it’s not that then I don’t know, but if it is that then it should’ve been explained better which it would’ve been with more episodes

And ultimately if we got more episodes of this show to be with these endearing characters, no one is gonna complain about that. It’s imperfect in its own way and accomplished what it set out to do. But yes it could have been so much better. Nothing in my opinion can beat season the perfection that is season 1.

    I largely agree - the ending is rushed. Finale lacks *proper* build up. Motivations of characters like Ambessa and Victor (or even why they work together) are not clear enough. I couldn't be really invested in the final battle, when it was not so clear how it came to that point in the first place. The way this kind of script should normally work is: first extensive build up, then satisfying resolution. Resolution doesn't work even half as good as it can, if the build up is lacking and IMHO it is very lacking here. That's exactly why many things in the finale feel unearned.
    Another way to look at it is by well known saying that story is as good as its villain. Ambessa and Victor don't work well as villains, because of their unclear motivations and (sometimes) incomprehensible decisions. Compare that to Silco in season 1, who had absolutely amazing character arc and when his motivations changed near the end, we as the viewers knew perfectly well why (IMHO, one of the best written villains ever).
    Don't get me wrong, there are still great moments and ideas in the season 2, also animation is superb. But for me, the ending is a failure, which indeed could be avoided with few additional episodes focusing on the build up (and also providing a bit more exposition).

    Viktor wanted to do all that because he thought the differences in people was what made humanity flawed. He despised his ailment and that was reflected in what he did i.e. making everyone connected and the same through the hexcore. But in the end, having everything perfect and the same, meant that humanity's desires, passion and hunt for discoveries no longer existed, and thats what the future Viktor realised.

    I clicked on this video with curiosity, but then I heard you claim acts one and two were amazing, and you immediately lost me.
    Bad writing is all across this season, and it absolutely demolishes any potential chance of recovery by the half-way mark.
    Episode seven absolutely destroys Ekko's character. It also severely damages, if not outright destroy Heimerdinger too, while also giving his plotline an absolutely contrived and unsatisfying ending. To not even get into the utopia alternate universe nonsense, or Ekko's impeccable timing when it comes to saving Jinx.
    Victor's not the only one to lack a comprehensible motivation. Most characters receive this treatment this season. Acting in ways that goes against their character, or working towards goals which they are never given a reason to work toward.
    People are coming up with all kinds of theories, trying to make sense of the actions characters take, and it just highlights how little care was put into writing these characters this season.
    The idea of having Vi and Jinx reconcile seems ill advised in general, but especially within months of the events of the season one finale. It makes no sense and there is no chance for Jinx to "fully change" in such a brief time frame, if at all, and she'd need something far more impactful than a random child (with whom she had a relationship off screen) and her "dad" coming back *from the dead* (and crossing her path in an extremely contrived manner).
    The final scene with Jayce and Victor made no bloody sense, not to mention Jayce's final revelation makes you question every action he's taken since his return from the hextech apocalypse.
    It's all terribly written, and extremely painful to watch after how amazing season one was.
    I appreciate that you seem to be putting your honest thoughts out there, rather than pandering to a crowd, and I do agree with some of your criticisms, but I do feel like you're way off the mark on most of this.
    Also, as an adaptation, it's perfectly fair to criticize Arcane, both season one and two, for retconning official canon. This is a valid criticism for retcons in the game's lore too. The reason many people overlooked the lore inconsistencies for season one of Arcane, was because, despite those inconsistencies, it managed to deliver an amazing story, with extremely well written characters.
    Season two no longer has that defense.

    I think that what they were going for with Viktor is that he wasn't being manipulated at all. Viktor's opposition to free will is actually pretty similar to his monologue at the end of episode 6 where he was already saying that human emotions and desire was the cause of both our greatest good and evil. The unspoken implication being that the only way to stop war and suffering is to reject humanity. That one little step is all that separates E6 Viktor from E9 Viktor. Jayce also said that he always saw everything imperfect as something that needed fixing like his legs and his disease when the truth is that those imperfections were always what made him human, which is a really good way to tie back Viktor's motivations to how he acted in season 1. It's true and it reinforces the idea that ever since S1E2 Viktor always had the seeds of the glorious evolution inside him. I think Viktor makes way more sense if you think that Viktor as the main villain of S2 is the exact same person as Viktor as he was introduced in the beginning without being controlled or manipulated. There was some symbolism in the finale that looked like Viktor might be 2 people but I think that was a metaphor for Viktor being one person making the choice between humanity or the glorious evolution and not that Viktor literally was with another person.
    I think that hextech in general is supposed to be an unthinking unfeeling magic force that generally makes life worse more than it makes life better. I also think that the show already had a ton of evidence that hextech was bad like Heimerdinger's arguments about the rune wars, the fact that hextech was used to make weapons, Mel's line that hextech may keep us alive but it won't save us, Jayce's promise to destroy the hexcore, the tree being poisoned, etc. Jayce's story in E7 to me only seemed like an apocalypse character story and also motivation for exactly what Jayce wanted to do in act 3: stop Viktor's glorious evolution and convince him to just go back to being Jayce's partner. I don't think that E7 needed to make any arguments about hextech being bad. I also don't think the hextech was a character at all, the main villain of S2 was just Viktor and nobody else.

      i liked viktor in season 2, but they really needed to be more explicit with his character writing. at times, it often seemed as though he was being manipulated even though he wasn't, and he generally just lacked agency during most of the major events, only for it to be revealed that he was the one who orchestrated everything from the first place. with a few minor course corrections his arc would have been far more compelling. still though, i agree that his ethos of perfection over everything is completely in line with that of viktor from season 1. he was obsessed with his own flaws and he saw perfection as the only 'cure' to his illness and the perceived illness of the world.

    What gets me is that people defending the direction with Viktor...we have No Indication of the "wants to fix all imperfections" motivations in season 1. They do not exist. Season 1 Viktor was a young Dying man being prevented from leaving a legacy behind him to help his people. Viktor does not start out wanting to fix or cure himself, he only wants to help his people with hextech. It's only after he gets told that everything they've built to help Zaun will be held off for at least a decade and then the Arcane gives him a vision of the hexcore that he starts getting Desperate to not Die. Then he stops telling Jayce what he's doing because Jayce did a little macro-aggression on the bridge and Vitkor believes he can no longer trust him.
    Outside of "I can feel my body eroding." And maybe the not wanting to go on stage scene, there's no indication that Viktor ever really cared that he was 'imperfect' or at least not to the point of detrimental self loathing. And even those scenes have other explanations. He's dying too quickly to achieve his goals. He's a Zaunite with valid stage fright in front of Piltovians.
    There's never a moment where he says he feels like a burden. And he never says or really does anything to imply that he's always lowkey been a megalomanaical eugenicist 😅.
    The moment he causes harm, to someone other than himself, in the pursuit of survival, he gives up. He wants the hexcore destroyed and is willing and wanting to die.
    But cut to Jayce returning in season 2 and suddenly that's actually how Viktor always was...Jayce speaks in absolutes and always regarding Viktor’s villainy and it makes No Sense whatsoever.
    And that's not only because it rewrites Viktor’s character motivation from the beginning but because Jayce is also coming from a future where He Knows Viktor is still there?! And that Viktor is trying to fix things? Like, why are you starting the conversations with your friend who is on the cusp of Godhood with shooting him the chest and insulting him?!
    "There must be some part of you still in there." WHY are you saying that after the attempted murder and unsympathetic exchange. You've done it all backwards by that point jayce 😂.
    Not to mention the line "You always wanted to cure what you thought were weaknesses." And including his disease as a weakness. Yeah, he obviously wanted to cure idk Cancer?! We want to do that in real life?! Are you saying we shouldn't? That you should just accept death and die when you have technology that could be logically used to save you. Or is it only fine when that same technology is used to help the rich get richer?!
    You can still have unmanipulated Villain Viktor if you just make it clear he's been driven mad by the realization of not only his power, but because he's understanding all the world's suffering, but you cannot rock up with only 3 episodes left and act as if that's who he always was when it isn't true.

    • @tslex6477

      Adding to your point, How does implication that Vktor was a mage that saved Jayce as a child makes sense? It makes sense that viktor could have gone back in time, but how did he know to save Jayce, or was he there accidentally? What happened to him and Jayce in the end? Did they die? Did the y somehow destroyed all of a hextech, or just stopped viktor's invasion, did they teleported somewhere?

    • @angelwings4191
      @angelwings4191 4 дня назад

      @tslex6477 I have a lot of thoughts on this and a lot of those thoughts center around the idea that Viktor is now essentially God 😅. I do not think he's dead. I don't think he can die. And he essentially says he's actually tried pretty much everything to stop himself from performing the Apocalypse and Jayce is basically the only person who ever cared about him. So, yes there are countless timelines where it's not Jayce. Where the Arcane finds Viktor another way and everything still happens. Because this godliness is Viktor's Fate, it's Viktor’s destiny to be the man in the robe. But it's only in the timelines with Jayce where Viktor feels he's capable of being saved because Jayce loves him and that love awakes the compassion and humanity within Viktor.

      this is the greatest weakness of your argument, none of these happening, Viktor is evolving with the story, nobody says it was his intention in S1, when Jayce comes back he speaks in absolutes not because he thinks Viktor has always planned this but because this will have happened in the future, he already knows the endpoint of the glorius evolution it does not mean Viktor at that moment is already there
      there is a key conversation between Viktor and Singed where you can get the hint:
      _"Do you believe in fate, Doctor? Our paths carved before us. Guided by an invisible hand."_
      This implies a deterministic universe where things always will happen the same way and this is the information Jayce comes back with. No time travel/multiverse story will ever by fully logically explained of coruse but you are imposing your assumptions on the story that just not there.
      And nobody "manipulates" Viktor, he himself changes, his understanding changes and you can see the steps: suffering is bad, actions cause suffering, motivations cause actions but motivations cannot be split good and bad, both of them are 2 sides of the same coin and both side can cause good and bad actions too, therefore you have to remove emotions as the means of perfecting ourselves and later others but when you reach perfection no other dreams or plans or motivations can happen, perfection does not result happyness it results emptyness this is his final realisation that his journey, his original thought was mistaken. And only at this point does he want to retcon everything.
      the entire story is an entry level philosophical critique of Buddhism and its final destination Nirvana which.... you can think anything about it but it is explained pretty well step by step episode by episode
      _" there's no indication that Viktor ever really cared that he was 'imperfect'"_
      the first thing he fixed in S1 was his leg, you can absolutely see his changes but the original seed of the idea was always there, even when he first met with Jayce he says:
      _"'Nobody's ever believed in me. A poor cripple from the undercity."_
      Why does he mention the cripple? It has always bothered him.
      _"Knowledge is a paradox. The more one understands the more one realises the vastness of his ignorance."_
      S2 is substantially weaker in my opinion than S1 but Viktor and Jayce's story is the best part of it.

    I usually don't care about endings in TV shows no matter if good or bad, but Arcane is a very short TV show, the whole point of short series is to tell a story start to finish, which final act of Arcane definitely failed.
    I think they did Viktor dirty, he is not a machine herald genius innovator any more, he is an alien jesus basically... I loved Season 1 Arcane and thought Viktor is gonna be absolute problem in Season 2, but he ended up being a bitch that was dealt with in one episode, also the ambessa and viktor team-up made no sense at all.
    Also Vi and Ekko not interacting for the whole season, every main character having plot armor while introducing so many side characters just to get killed off...
    Idc if someone died in the last minute of the show, that doesn't have any effect on the story and events.
    Season 1 was all about the conflict between Piltover and Zaun and Jinx really ignited it at the end of S1.
    And then scrap all that, let's just all unite after centuries of hate, racism, corruption and systematic discrimination so we can fight Viktor and Ambessa avengers style.
    Every story arc in season 2 feels rushed and unexplored. It's still a decent show, but compared to Season 1, season 2 is mid.
    Season 1 had much better pacing bcs there wasn't as much stuff happening, there was enough time for story to evolve and for characters to develop, Season 2 is obviously much more eventful but it has same runtime as Season 1...

    many of arcane's problems could have been fixed simply by adding a few more minutes to each episode and by trimming much of the fat in acts 1 and 2. i think that arcane presented a lot of good ideas and plot points in isolation from one another, but it did not necessarily drive any of these points home or weave them together into a convincing overarching narrative. other than episode 7, which had a strong thesis and character arc for ekko, much of season 2 felt like a substandard execution of a standard plot; scenes did not flow seamlessly from one another and many writing decisions felt contrived for the express purpose of moving the plot forward to the next point and addressing as many open plot threads as possible before trying to wrap everything up. the crux of the issue was that there was a paradoxical combination of useless meandering and failure to make consistent claims and decisive choices about the themes of the main plot.

    what pissed me off is that they practically ignore jinx’s heavy trauma based schizophrenia in the third act. and before you say, “she saw silco”, that hallucination seemed way less like a schizophrenic episode and way more like how vi saw vander in season one when fighting sevika. i find it really hard to believe that someone with schizophrenia going through suicidal thoughts and tendencies after losing literally the one person that made them happy, wouldn’t have a single episode. especially since jinx never was able to get psychiatric help. also the fact that isha wasn’t brought up a single time in act three. i know jinx was mourning, so it would probably do her more harm than good if vi talked to her about isha. but the fact that we didn’t even get flashes of memories, like vi did multiple times when she was heartbroken over caitlyn. it made isha’s character fall incredibly flat. she was the catalyst for jinx to grow, yet she wasn’t remembered once for being that catalyst. i feel like act three they went for fan service rather than actually building up the story. that whole smexy scene between vi and cait could have been so much shorter, and while i loved the timebomb episode, for the sake of the story, they could have shortened it to make room for building up vi, ekko, and jinx’s plots in the world we’ve been following since the beginning. there are many more plot holes ive found, but ill just keep them to myself for now cuz this comment is already so long 😭

    Yeah, you're right on point - all the very interesting personal and societal themes were brushed aside for the world-ending threat, which just isn't as satisfying. They should've ended season 2 at episode 7, spent more time at episodes 4/5 and made a 3rd season. Also the unfeeling Warwick/Viktor zombie thing was really meh, the last two episodes felt incredibly rushed and I kind of just stopped caring while it turned into a Marvel movie style fight and shit

  • @AL3XEM
    @AL3XEM 4 дня назад +4

    I agree that it is a bit rushed, however, many of the points you are making about things not being explained don't hold up. Why does victor become "Evil"? Because Jayce kills him due to emotions, Viktors goal is to cure humans of all things that can cause them pain or harm, and he realizes emotions is one of these things. Why does Piltover and Zaun unite? Obviously it's due to Jinx and Ekko, however, this could have used one episode showing Jinx and Ekko rallying up Zaun to join the fight, it's a bit scuffed that it happened off-screen. What is the arcane? The entire point is that the people don't fully understand what it is or what it can do, one could think you didn't even watch the show.

    One thing I haven't seen people talk about how bad the dialogue was. "It was always you and me sister", "I just want my partner back" or whatever the exact lines were. Having characters straight up state their motivations through dialogue felt like an amateur writing mistake of telling instead of showing, and episodes 8 and 9 were full of these and it made all of the previously great characters seem one dimensional and completely made me disengaged with whatever was going on. Well, that alongside all the other problems.

    I love the show, the season one is perfect, half o season 2 is perfect too, but sadly what he's saying is 70% right because i really didn't understand why the show took another path, like he said in the first season it was piltover and zaun and it was fucking perfect, but in the second season they introduced the humanity, machines, fucking magic but this time it was too much, magic took all the suspens and all the credit but the main conflict (zaun and piltover) is forgotten, you can say that he "didn't understand what they have done" but no i understand the path they took and just we dont care🙂 i just don't care about humanity and greatest evolution that doesn't concerne me... But piltover and zaun THAT i wanted to see what happened, how it will be settled, who will be the new vander, maybe jinx maybe vi maybe none of them, what ambessa will do with them, like bro AMBESSA, she was meant to be the final boss, why giving a creature that we doesn't even recognize to be the final boss, this shit is not victor(victor said:
    "In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good.")
    Like now if i ask you what is your favourite episode of the last arc, most of you will choose the episode 7, why? Because it is all about characters that we love, that we seen grow, and about zaun, but who tf cares about machines and humanity🙂 well its a great show, the second season is excellent but not perfect like the first, its okay the writer's wrote a story and i am really happy that this masterpieces exists (even if im fucking angry that they didn't give vi her time in the last episode, like she was always the victime we really lost her character that i loved soooooo much in the first season, she was funny, fucking badass and in the final episodes she was just a victim who cry's and need her sister or cait and can't do nothing on her own, even like in fighting, they didn't gave a her a proper fight in the last episode...
    About the arcane explanation, he's right again (god i hate to say this because it's my second favourite show it huuurts) well the arcane is not meant to be explained, in the first season we just know that arcane is magic and that it can be summoned by runes, and that was enough, i mean why would we want to know about how it works we are not in class, BUT making the arcane the subject of all season 2, NOW we need an explanation, you need to understand how it works, why would the arcane to devastate the three of ekko for example? You know what i mean... Fuck my life man i wanted a final fight in ghe bridge it would be so fucking awesome because all started there, the 1vs2 ambessa vs cait and mel was perfect , but a 1vs1 with vi vs jayce would have been phenomenal, hear me out, if victor cured vander and AFTER only after that, jayce killed victor then vi would have been sooooo fucking angry against him, jinx trying to suicide and ekko saving her was perfect, and we wanted to see how jinx and ekko calls all of the undergound, bro that's what i wanted, instead i saw stars🫥and magic that i dont even understand🫥 two friends talkings in the fucking galaxie where in the world would i care 🫥

    The main ideas they introduced and what they wanted to explore were good. In isolation, the scene at the end where Jayce appeals to Viktor's all but lost humanity by showing him the end result of his glorious evolution and a future Viktor trying to right his past wrongs, was beautiful (I was sobbing my eyes out). However, the way it got there makes apparent the lack of time they had to develop anything leading up to that moment of splendor and realization. The issue is not the writing as the show is still amazingly written even in the final act, but the pacing and all the scenes that they only implied but never got a chance to show - Ekko and Jinx's conversation, Zaun and Piltover banding together to stop the Noxians, maybe some more resistence at the idea that Jayce is a doomsayer, more time exploring Viktor's failing faith in humanity, things that could have fleshed out the story some more and given the ending that much more weight.

    I'm someone who did somewhat care about the canon, especially since Riot themselves said that Arcane was canon. I originally thought Arcane was going to be one of their non-canon parallel universes but Arcane season 1 always followed a route where it could have been considered canon nonetheless. When they stated it was canon and that Arcane was the characters' origins, you are set up to believe that it leads up to them being how they are in League of Legends, but that clearly is not the case - Jayce, Viktor, Jinx, Warwick, and Heimerdinger are gone, Cait loses an eye, Warwick never gets his wolf head.. They never progressed towards being their League characters aside from Ambessa. It would make sense if they just erased these characters completely, removing their default skin and replacing it with their Arcane variant, while also adjusting voicelines, but other than that I cannot see how Arcane being canon makes sense while the characters in League of Legends are also considered canon.
    Arcane also disrupts the lore of other characters. Both Camille and Blitzcrank are characters that utilise hextech to fundamentally exist, the show doesn't make it clear if they moved away from Hextech or simply stopped using the core, but hextech usage must persist for these characters to work. Blitzcrank was also a character created by Viktor, however I don't recall ever seeing Blitzcrank nor any automaton in Arcane, so Blitzxcrank can't be canon.

    I had the same feeling about the two last episodes but I don't think that is a writing lazyness, I think it's a political problem that began since the season 1. Arcane is kind of torn about politic : this show use and tease about revolutionnary imagery but creators of the show are deeply "reasonable left". The independance of Zaun on hand before intervention of Jinx, the very positive view of Vander are announcing the final reconciliation, the ideal Zaun of mirror world, the depressive Jinx and the empathy with tyrants.
    A tepid reconciliation between Piltover and Zaun against technofascism is just the political view of the creators of the show. It's too easy and ruin all the social tension set up earlier but it's intentionnal. A lousy intention but not a lazyness.
    The real and deep lack of these last two episodes are the story engine rooted in class struggle. Either there had to be no reconciliation between cities and a fast surrender from Piltover or three more episodes to see the Piltover betrayal and Zaun revolution. A shipping between first world Jinx and Ekko would have been a way to illustrate a bond between serene activism of Ekko and necessary all burn of Jinx. A redemption arc for Caitlyn would have been minimally necessary. Isha's death should have arouse Jinx's anger and Jinx will to tribute to Isha's will of revolution.

      I agree, S1 developped its themes in a fantastic way, the social struggle, the motivation and PSYCHOLOGY of its characters, politics, and had an amazing cliff hanger ending because it left you in despair knowing everything S1 built was destroyed in mere seconds by Jinx.
      S2 wasn't bad per se but the themes totally shifted from "undercity vs uppercity" where you knew both parts had their rights and wrongs, to a more... generic plot of "good vs evil" with a way less nuanced villain which had to be stopped at all costs. In my opinion it wasn't bad at all, but it feels like a waste because, even though the reconciliation between the two parts of the city can work this way, with them teaming up to bring down a common enemy, it doesn't really work in the bigger picture, especially after the fantastic work they did setting up Vander and Silco in S1.
      S1 felt very real whereas S2 felt like your standard, good fantasy show.
      My biggest disappointment was Ambessa tbh. She felt intelligent, powerful, cunning. Then she decides to team up with viktor but it doesn't make sense AT ALL, how in your right mind can you really accept to deal with an apocalyptic hive mind JUST to have a stronger army... Idk it just didn't feel right to me, Ambessa was looking for a tool to be militarized like Hextech, how could she not see Viktor as the menace he was to all humanity? It felt like a plot device to give us the climax of season 2

So when she knows of a magical enemy and meets Viktor using a type of magic that looks like it can be controlled, that man looks like a powerful ally. Especially when a smart guy like Singed is saying that he thinks he can help her use that power. She is still smart and considering her choices, but the Arcane is hard for anyone in the show to comprehend.

    I understand and agree with most of what you are saying. The show definitely placed itself in 6th gear and rarely slowed down for a breather. Everything that happened was amazing and a visual spectacle, but there is definitely a plentiful amount of necessary character moments completely skipped in Season 2. For me the issue simply came down to one major reason as to why this is: Too many subplots. Season 1 was mainly centered around 3 key characters with their own individual narratives, but what made them all flow and intertwine was their connecting theme to the invention and political power struggles of weaponizing Hextech and so each narrative felt natural and consistent. Season 2 not only doubles the amount of subplots, but also has them telling completely separate stories from one another and as a result becomes way too much to balance and juggle within the confines of 9 episodes.
    Strongly feel season 2 should have ended with Jayce killing Herald Viktor, which in turn could have centralized around the conflict of Piltover and Zaun reaching a boiling point. A third season could have and should have focused solely around Viktors descent to a villain, and would have allowed the Piltover Zaun feud to naturally diffuse with the rise of a greater threat.

      The problem I had is that they DIDN'T have to go that route. They could've dne impeccable storytelling, while still leaving room for stories to be told after. They didn't have to bring a wrecking-ball to the ENTIRE cast of characters.
      This is a problem that will become increasingly evident the more they do it. They're tying up too many characters, storylines, and loose ends. The Walking Dead had the same issue. Artistic depression is fun, once. But I do not feel like it fits here. it WAS lazy writing. ambessa's character narrative was "no mercy" and she forgave cait there. soldiers didnt kill Vi while they had chance and killed other soldiers, guess what, plot armor. victor DID NOT HAVE TO go back in time to solve that, what could have been easily solved. and guess what, evangelion did the same thing when they were low on budget, these guys had low time but the writing did get fkd up. so many characters came from the dead, everytime someone dies, poof they are alive. vander died twice dude. at the end scene, powder was calling vi to get off vander. vi acts out of character there, and for no reason. writers forgot the power ceiling. now the focus is which power ranger is more powerful, which was never how it started. it was about character depth. it was not just fast paced, it was just fucked up storyline at this point. in just a single episode, they just ruined so much... i would never stop recommending arcane to people cuz it is amazing writing eighteen minus one. i hope they can just release one episode as replacement, idk they should have budget and resources.

    4:05 What do you mean you don’t know what the arcane is? Early in season one heimendinger states clearly that he doesn’t like them “messing with the arcane” arcane is simply a term used in the show to describe the higher powers aka magic in the world. What they are looking at isn’t the arcane it is theorized by them in that scene to be a wild rune and it being that size shows that they have pushed the rune to its limit with the hexgates and are going to face the consequences of messing with “the arcane” the unknown magic power that they have abused. It’s frusterating to hear people ask that as if they would like the show better if the arcane was a physical mcguffin all the characters were after, the arcane is a concept in thier world that ties all the characters together through the recent discovery and utilization of it, not hard to understand.

  • @ivoryjuanisamoron1833
    @ivoryjuanisamoron1833 5 дней назад +7

    Wow. The shills are REAL! 😂
    The show was sh*t.
    Also, the material did come from the game, after all.
    And because some of the players who have been playing the game from the beginning have gotten upset or disappointed, and have dared to express it, there is this really weird disrespect, or even hatred, coming from other people who are acting as if they have no right to?
    The player outrage is simply because RIot comes in and tries to force the players to accept changes made to the lore of champions, that Riot had already changed, by the way, saying that Arcane is cannon, while then turning around and changing THAT cannon on top of the changes that they had ALREADY made in the lore, FOR ARCANE, is just utter ridiculousness.
    I will tell you this, for me personally, and I dont give a crap about what anyone else has to say, and therefore will not reply, but because of that, Arcane is not cannon then, as far as I am concerned, Riot.
    As it was made quite clear, despite what Riot had originally told all of their playerbase that the show was mainly for their players and the fans of their game(s), that this show was instead clealy made as a show that was just made for people who do not play their game(s), and who do not give two sh*ts about their game(s) or their players.
    And apparently, that's who the show is actually really for.
    And that is fine. I couldn't care less.
    It was the part where Riot tried to force this as cannon to all of their loyal longtime players, when this show honestly should be and just exist as its own separate thing or entity.
    That's the main thing here.
    That's what really matters to the players.
    But the show, even taken by itself, in all honesty, was very rushed, even felt very cringe and "try hard-y" at times, and has quite a few gaping holes that, for some reason, the Arcane viewers seem to be unwilling to address.
    So shills abound.
    Perhaps Riot just cannot afford honest bad reviews, so they paid for good ones. lol
    I don't know, nor do I really care at this point. It was pretty lame in my opinion, which I do have a right to have my opinion.
    And it was definitely NOT at all as passionate, moving, and detailed as Season 1 Arcane was so clearly lovingly made.
    It felt extremely overhauled, overstretched, and rushed.
    As this is my opinion, I won't be changing it, therefore will not respond either.
    So have fun. 😂
    Side note: The hilarity and the audacity of Riot Games to still want players to spend a "million dollars" (sarcasm) on some "gatcha" supposed "special" Jinx skin for this mess that they did?! I will be laughing for weeks!! 😂🤣

    I love the show. Was a little thrown by the last episodes, but still enjoyed them. The creators went the way they wanted. Can't blame em.
    To me, it doesn't just feel rushed. It feels like they changed the theme, as you touched on. It went to good vs evil rather than a class struggle. They seemed to back away from any political message they had.
    For example, Heimerdingee goes back and changes life in Zaun. Does it rather easily, it seems. They never comment on how, with relative ease, most of the upper class in Piltover could have done the same at any moment. They simply don't out of greed and complacency. I thought that was a big miss.

  • @notdante1151
    @notdante1151 5 дней назад +2

    I agreed about the rush part. I think 1 more episode right after 8 "move 9 to 10" focusing on the struggle to heal and forgive between Zaun and Piltover would have been nice, also Jinx and Ekko should have gotten more interactions. The end wasn't completely spoil to me "sorry if it was for you" since episode 9 itself was still very good and full of emotional impact.
    Also I'm pretty sure they will go more in depth about the arcane/ magic in the next season. Piltover and Zaun is not really big on magic if you read Leag lore. My guess for the next season is that they will start in Noxus and that's where we will learn more about The Arcane since noxus is the place where ancient mages/ world conqueror resided. You forgot this is a multi series show, there are questions still because the show is not finished. So be patient and see if your questions will be answer on the next season.

    Yeah, mostly agree. I was confused by the victor plot twist. Victory sets Jayce on the path to haxtech (as the hooded mage). Victor gains his power via hextach. Then, destroys the world. He then goes back in time to inspire Jayce to make hextech so Jayce would stop him from destroying the world?... Is it me or does this make no sense.

  • @andrzejmarpak8743
    @andrzejmarpak8743 5 дней назад +8

    Sorry, brother, but you are clueless about the show.
    "Episode seventh doesn't show nothing new at all" - We see that multiverses exist, we see how ekko managed to create his zero drive and how he is capable of going back in time(which is essentional in the end), we see what jayce saw and what motivations if his are- which all is major for main plot + we see how the other multiverse could look like.
    Indeed we had assumptions that jayce must have seen something terrible, but now we are clear about it, we see exact consequenses.
    Yes, Jayce tried to kill Viktor, beacuse he had not a clear explanation of what do do + his brain was a bit possessed by arcane, he only knew he had to stop it. Viktor would go to hexportals anyway, it was mentioned in previous episodes, beacuse his power was weakening and needed it for the "glorious evolution", the final evolution.
    Zaun and Piltover reaunaited in the common greater danger, this is reasonable, the danger was overhelming and they were aware of it.
    Viktor, the old one from other universe, gave Jayce arcane crystal in many universe, beacuse like he pointed out it was the only way to stop the power, they had to work together to get rid of it. Even if they ever met they arcane would eventually destroy the world with them or without, viktor by himself or with jayce, there was the only solution according to Viktor.
    If u have questions just ask me, i'll explain. But dont blame show for your incomprehension. It is rushed, but come on.

    It wasn't bad, you just didn't like it. In general your main issue seems you wanted more exposition, that's fine, but it is just as possible to over explain as it is to under explain. I'll condense a few critiques into one point, you can't just have as many episodes as you want to indulge in every conceivable thread of motivation, exposure, interaction etc. And that is even if production concerns like finance, deadlines, actor availability weren't an issue. Even the best of art wears out its welcome if it doesn't end.
    My comment is already too long, but it honestly of feels like you missed a lot of things that answer some of your issues. The show obviously wont please everyone, It's not perfect. But felt like you entered nitpicking territory for the sake of a video.

      Plot Rule: Smoking Gun
      Chekhov’s Gun, also known as the Smoking Gun Plot Rule, is a narrative principle that suggests every element introduced in a story should serve a purpose and contribute to the plot. This means that if a detail, object, or character is introduced, it should eventually play a significant role in the story, rather than being mere decoration.
      If it was impossible to expand on the plot points they introduced, the story would've have been stronger by omitting plots they wouldn't have time to expand on. I didn't think the ending was terrible, but with more expanded closure it would've matched the quality of season one.

      most expensive tv show ever produced, they threw all the money on it, but managing recording and such should not be a problem if the writing is done. it's more likely the case of overbloated management making changes on the go, that's why the story line is flopping everywhere. with heavy craftmanship like this you cant afford to toss things around, it will always show up on the end result

    2:01 Yes but no. You've forgotten how both sides have essentially lost their leaders/council/chem-barons - their identity as Zaun and Piltover gradually got diminished. It's only when Jayce called in representatives of Zaun and Piltover, did they finally have this meaningful peace talk for a common goal - the removal of Noxian influence. That's been the goal this whole time - something reflected to the last arc of season 1.
    You see this in S2 Episode 7, where Heimerdinger was able to influence the necessary change to join both sides - by introducing the brilliant minds into Piltover and allowing himself to oversee the entirety by essentially living by the bridge, rather than his tower.
