Hi Mads, that Hopper creation looks very cool, definitely "sticker city" and the shock & bumper delete is something I've never seen before but does make the front end streamlined. Yeah, I can see it was a lot of fun out on the gravel. I agree, you didn't ruin the suspension either. I also drank a lot of beer in the 90's and I haven't stopped since!!! 😅 It sounds like you got plenty coming up for us, especially wanna see that TT02! Cheers mate! 🍻😎👍
Thanks Mark! Yeah, I wasn't aiming for sticker city, but it had to happen with the terrible paint job I did. I was really surprised how well it worked (and looked) with that shock mod. I can imagine a very minimalist paint job and without the front shock towers, it would look really nice. He he, somehow it seemed more important to drink a lot of beer back then, than to play with RC cars... Fortunately we got time to catch up on that now. Yeah, the TT-02, I am working on it almost every day, sometimes it's just 5 minutes, sometimes a bit more. It will be a cool offroader, I think.
@MarkBryanRC That's what we like to hear Mark! 🍻 😜 As an 'adult' I've mastered the art of multi tasking...... I've found that you can easily combine hobbies! Drinking and RC go together so well! 😂 😅 🤣 👍
Thanks Fil! Yeah, those stickers are too much, but since the paint job was so terrible, it had to happen... Yeah, I do like those tunes for my videos, normally I prefer to listen to thrash metal, but as I get older, I get softer, ha ha!
Thanks RC4TheWay! Yeah, these are cool, these buggies, and I loved to be able to personalise it a bit, ha ha. Partly respectful to its heritage, but only partly...
Thanks Jeremy! Yes, it became so alright that I dared to put out a video with it, ha ha! I was quite positively surprised how well it did with those tiny little springs. Yeah, I actually have a bit too much going on, ha ha!
The trusty grasshopper..... It does exactly what it says on the tin! It doesn't have to be fast to be fun Mads, these things are always a blast. Loving the custom body, that looks very individual..... I don't think you can ever have too many stickers on this sort of project mate! 😂 The mods are cool, especially the front shocks..... Or should I say 'lack' of them! And, great move glueing down that pesky battery tray, that always flies open mid run! 😉 The 'drinking beer' 🍻 in the nineties bit made me laugh, I drank my way all the way through the nineties (amongst many other wonderful substances! 😜) But, quite remarkable how many of us have picked the RC hobby back up in middle age! Sweet video fella, always enjoy the chats at the end, gives it that personal touch. 👍 👍 👍
Thanks James! Yeah, it's a unique buggy, the old Grasshopper, I am happy to finally have one, and for real this time, ha ha! That story from the 90'ies is so typical how it was back then, the 90'ies were pretty shitty times, but everything was cheap, especially beers, I remember how we struggled to drink all up to go buy more, and we were not even wealthy back then! But still that old Grasshopper became a trading object to get more beer (and other substances). Yeah, the Grasshopper, I noticed the chassis is built strong, so I had no issues cutting away some plastic here and there, it was quite a fun project. I'm only bummed about how the paint turned out. I am of the opinion you can have too many stickers, and I definitely got too many, ha ha! Thanks so much for the great comment, my friend, it is truly great we can be back at the hobby after so many years, and combine it with a beer here and there!
My first RC car was the Hornet. Grasshopper was a lot nicer. That thing lasted for years!!!! In fact, I sold it way back along with my collection after I got married. (STUPID MOVE, Yes, I mean the marriage, LOL). One day soon, hope to grab up a bunch of these toys again. I know the vintage originals are hard to find, but they are out there. Still think our old 1980's RC were more fun. But, as many state, everything is fun when you are young. Started in RC at age 12. I'm now 53 and still into RC airplanes!
Thanks Skeptic, what a cool comment! Yeah, I gotta agree about the old days, there was a kind of magic to RC cars, still felt like advanced technology at our fingertips to control a little toy car, and of course a ton of fun! But then came the adult years, or whatever it's called, ha ha... Those days are gone but live on in our minds, and we can relive some of that magic by being playful and have this great RC hobby! I haven't gotten into airplanes, but I do recommend you get and build yourself a classic Tamiya kit, you will enjoy every bit of it, buddy!
Thanks Gottfried! I was positively surprised how it turned out in the end... About halfway through the build, I was close to ordering a new body, ha ha!
Thanks Craig! Yeah, to me it's a bit too many stickers, but it had to happen, the paint was hideous, ha ha! It's a great buggy to drive, lots of fun, and I think they wonky front springs helped on the fun factor.
I think it looks great Mads! I like the sticker bomb look and you fit them on there nicely. The front shock delete looks really cool and seemed to work just as well as the stock bouncy set-up does! I am glad you had a bunch of fun driving it! Take care my friend!
Thanks Addam! Yeah, the sticker bomb thing was a happy accident after all. Without the stickers it would have certainly been just a plain accident, ha ha! The buggy was genuinely a lot of fun to drive, even just on the flat asphalt, there is some amazement about these basic things that hasn't quite carried over to the more advanced RC vehicles. Or maybe it's just nostalgia, ha ha!
Mads! Love the front spring mod. Must try on my Grasshopper II! It actually looked marginally better running..... You've got some cool things coming up. Can't wait! Cheers! 🍺
Thanks Carmine! Yeah, I have no idea how this works on GHII, but try it out, it'll probably be fun, too! Minus the stickers, I really liked the look of the front end, maybe even try with some smaller wheels one day, might be fun. Yeah, I got way too much going on, my brain never rests... 😅
Thanks Tony! Yeah, I am not a stickers person myself, but since I messed up the paint job, they sort of saved me... Yes, I was quite amazed how well the front worked with just those primitive springs.
Your grasshopper looks very cool. One thing most of the retro bugs are missing is the antenna, because of current tech but that doesn't mean it doesn't belong. A buggy whip is required in the desert. Watching this made me miss that old wire hanging out of the straw. The grasshopper was my very first hobby grade kit, I beat it to death and it was pretty tough little car. The 3 piece wheels are the coolest look out of all the wheels IMO. Nice video and great hopping.
Thanks Squirrels! He he, the antenna, that's right! I remember the very long tube and the even longer wire, I am happy to be rid of those! But yes, of course, for scale looks it should have the whip, with an orange flag in it, or maybe an old pirate flag, he he... It's a cool buggy, the old Grasshopper!
Thanks BK! Yeah, I guess sexy is a good way to describe it, I do like the look without the front shock tower. It was a bit of work, with the paint and stickers and all, he he... Have fun with yours!
Thanks Dom, do it! It was good fun to do, maybe not so much when the paint turned horrible, but definitely something I can recommend to try. Can't put back the shock towers, though. 😅
Thanks for commenting! Yeah, I think it was EZ-RC, I believe I mentioned him in the video and most likely also put link to his video. It's a cool hack, I'm happy I did this...

She looks awesome, Mads! Love that sticker set, it reminds me of my skateboard when I was a kid. And the synthwave track was 👌👌👌
Thanks Fil! Yeah, those stickers are too much, but since the paint job was so terrible, it had to happen...

One cannot help but love these vintage buggies. The Grasshopper is definitely in a class of its own together with The Hornet. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks RC4TheWay!
Yeah, these are cool, these buggies, and I loved to be able to personalise it a bit, ha ha. Partly respectful to its heritage, but only partly...
I think the Grasshopper looks awesome Mads! The shock delete is certainly interesting!
It looks like you’ve got lots of neat stuff coming up!👍😊
Thanks Jeremy! Yes, it became so alright that I dared to put out a video with it, ha ha!
I was quite positively surprised how well it did with those tiny little springs.
Yeah, I actually have a bit too much going on, ha ha!
That looks ridiculously good, love it!!!
Thanks Damian! Yeah, I'm happy with it after all. Was a bit of a battle, I gotta say, ha ha!

Had a Hornet in the 80's. I had tons of fun with that thing.
Thanks Nitz! Yeah, these were cool back then and they are cool now. It's all about the fun!
Great video my friend. Your Grasshopper looks really good. Very unique.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Gottfried! I was positively surprised how it turned out in the end... About halfway through the build, I was close to ordering a new body, ha ha!
Amazing custom works Mads. Love the look of this and you can never have too many stickers pal!!

Looks great and definitely yours !!! Such a fun classic Rc and a must have
Thanks mate! Yeah, lots of fun with this one, it's a proper old weirdo just like myself, ha ha!
Mads! Love the front spring mod. Must try on my Grasshopper II! It actually looked marginally better running.....

Great video, you can never have too many stickers :) Interesting way of removing the front shock towers, looks much better for it!
Thanks Tony! Yeah, I am not a stickers person myself, but since I messed up the paint job, they sort of saved me... Yes, I was quite amazed how well the front worked with just those primitive springs.

It's a cool buggy, the old Grasshopper!
That’s some nice mods ! The tower delete is truly sexy ! I’am currently working on a BlockHead themed grass hopper 😊
Thanks BK! Yeah, I guess sexy is a good way to describe it, I do like the look without the front shock tower. It was a bit of work, with the paint and stickers and all, he he... Have fun with yours!
looks excellent buddy 😊👍 i need to do a hopper custom 👍
Thanks Dom, do it! It was good fun to do, maybe not so much when the paint turned horrible, but definitely something I can recommend to try. Can't put back the shock towers, though. 😅
Nice video man
Thanks buddy! Was a tough one, but turned out alright in the end, he he...
I love it. 1 of a kind.
Thanks Paul! Yeah, I prefer them that way, he he.
wow.. I had the original Grass Hopper all waterproof case. not the same..😩😩😩
Thanks Eagle! Yeah, gotta love the old Grasshopper, we can do almost anything with it, I definitely managed to change mine, he he...
Someone else here on youtube did this howto vid in 3min.
