I live in Kolkata and I feel really sad to see my city getting deteriorated day by day. Politics and present government in Bengal has kiIIed our future. Once Calcutta was compared to London in terms of development, now the educated youth of Kolkata is leaving Kolkata due to no opportunities in Kolkata.
Not only Kolkata but also the whole WB is suffering because of dirty politics and lack of industrialisation, today the state needs strong governance and a better CM to regain its glory.
I wish Eastern India also had a Mumbai like city. Sadly Kolkata was not able to develop due their irrelevant political theories. India's Eastern part would not have been this poor if they had Kolkata to rescue like how Mumbai & Delhi does

Freebies Politics is drowning the state further. The funds which are supposed to utilised for development are distributed through various schemes (1-2 of the schemes are really good but most of them are garbage) just for votebank.
If you focus less on kolkata and more on cities like kalyani, durgapur, Siliguri West Bengal will grow surely. ! People are so busy with kolkata that they don't even consider other parts as Bengal !!!
But one interesting thing to note. Kolkata is still now 3rd largest city in India ( GDP CITY WISE) and much more ahead of Bangalore. So, keep hope and avoid dirty politics. We shall overcome because we have great minds.

Yes there is potential of Bangalore to beat kolkata but, last 3 years kolkata attract plenty of fintech and IT companies where kolkata was actually lagging from past 20years . So I think kolkata is capable to maintain top 3rd richest city of India in coming years too.
The British looted the country by staying here, but even after leaving, they broke India, in which some big faces of our country also contributed a lot, that too only for their short term benefits. 🙏🏼
First time when I went to Kolkata, the picture in my mind was completely different from what I saw. As soon as i got down at Howrah! All I could see was poverty and I don't know, buses from 50's? It has become old and rickety!
