You need an authentic game copy, no cracked accounts work. If the drive you have rust on has a different assigned letter than “C:”, just change the letter in your .bat file, this will solve the “file path” error. If it says steam auth failed and you have a good game copy, reinstall the server after verifying your game files on steam. This does still work if you do it right, i can assure you. You need to port forward to add your friends on, there’s a link in the description, watch those videos. :)
@WaffleWolff you don't need additional folders. when you click the steamcmd.exe file it creates the needed folders/files after installing steamcmd. The additional folders are not necessary.

Dude, I love you. All the build servers have a 12 year old lagging out the server by spawning a million bear rugs, or they have a super low limit on what entities can be spawned. This just fixed all my problems. Running like a dream on my pc.
I followed all the steps and got my server up and running only problem is when I go onto the f1 console I don’t know how to spawn myself any items, if I click on items then click arm, nothing happens?? Do you know how?
If you have a problem with bat or cmd files MAKE SURE you run them as administrator (you need to do this bcs the file doesnt have accses to download or read files)
This worked great. Its insane how much pve there is without other players on the map. Edit: it's also super great to learn the monuments. Sure enjoy getting fully geared and doing oil rig and stuff, but it's also great to practice being a minimalist. Also after practice on koala flight server, it's good tofly with medium consequences of losing your chopper vs contending with a barage of gun fire.

I wanted to make my own server and make it last more than 30 days, avoiding rust updates, or if I can't avoid rust updates, I can save the whole data in the server (like people's house creations, their loots in storages, their items in their inventory) -- so I can apply it to the new Rust update with the same map, same base creations and same loots and items for other players. I wanted to have this as a long term private RP server for me and my friends. Is this possible to do?
If you know how to save and load .sav files created by the server you can do part of this, if you have a local server, it’ll be updating when your rust client updates so it’s hard to avoid the wipes, impossible really as EAC will probably prohibit that and get mad at you or something like that.
How do I change how fast items despawn. Like my horse dung with hot the ground and despawn within seconds. I've died and by the time I go to get my bag it's gone. There has to be a setting that allows me to change this. Any help would be amazing thank you!

That is your server. Any server you client.connect to will show that. The config options for name and description are for public servers if you were to port forward.

I don't know if it's a mod I put in but when I place a furnace I put wood in it and turn it on it works fine but as soon as I grab any ore in my inventory to the furnace breaks and I get a error message. I need to know how to fix this. Like if you go to sandbox In rust the build server and if you try to place ore in a furnace it will break and give you that same message this is what is happening to me
'RustDedicated.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file can happen when you put the batch file on your desktop. try to run it from This PC/(_:)/rustserver instead
You wipe it when you want to. Facepunch releases a new update monthly first Thursday of every month so you may be forced to wipe it on those days as your game will update meaning the server automatically will since it runs off of your game.
Wipe is manual, and typically required on a force wipe to apply an update. You can spawn stuff in console yes. Spawn items and car parts in the Items tab, and spawn a car module using “spawn car” and it’ll give you a list of every car module chassis you can spawn.

Hi so Im getting this weird glitch where it says ders removal was intentional, you may have forgotten turning Fallback off? and then it stops loading.. How do I fix?
Press enter it skips non critical errors. The rust server console is full of bugs, it’s normal and has no effect. It sometimes loads in the background, I usually let it sit for 15min and try joining regardless of if the console confirms the server is running.
You have to grant yourself ownerid with the command near the end of the video in the command prompt. It’ll be “ownerid steam64ID”, just replace the steam64ID with your own and run the command, you may have to reconnect. If it worked, the “noclip” command will work in your F1 console.
Staging branch includes the new items being added before they’re added to the main branch, so you can try things out. No you do not need a website, leave the config settings blank for most cases except for world seed and size. No one can show up on your server unless you port forward it.
Are you keeping the CMD file (rustserver.bat) open in the background? If you close it the server shuts down. Also make sure it fully loads, it’ll be ready if it says “BradleyAPC spawned at -.-.-“, or “SteamServer Connected” most often.

The 223/500 is a placeholder value. Any server you client.connect to is going to show that. It’s normal. You can’t use the buttons you see there either. Use “client.connect” and “disconnect” from your F1 console.s

Your tutorial is great, but after all that the server crushed when it loaded... i didn`t expect that in 2023 there are survival multiplayer games like this that don`t give you an offline-single player option in game (like Ark, 7Days, Valheim, and any other survival game)... wanted to try the game in PVE mod but no servers were found... sooo refund it is ;) Shame on the developers for forcing people to either play on toxic servers or make the work they should do to begin with
If you set up LogMeIn Hamachi then I believe so, people do that for Minecraft. It pretty much simulates them being on the same wifi as you and lets them use the same local host connect command. Otherwise watch video in description about port forwarding
you kinda need a good pc like 16gig of ram or more or a i7 or higher and if you dont have a lot of storage left then that could also be a problem hope this works.
If it says steam auth failed then verify game files and try again. If you’re on a cracked version of rust you can’t get past the error. Make sure you install it preferably on the same drive as rust. If you pick the M drive, change the arguments in the commands from c: to m:

You can even search up servers on battlemetrics and find their maps to use on your own server to plan out everything before you build ;)

Question, what commands do I use to adapt the resource output for the server, IE I want to make a 2x or 5x server?
It’s a plug-in called GatherManager you’ll need to first install oxide to add it.

Yes it’ll run around 1-2GB of RAM so I recommend a minimum of 16GB RAM in your system, never hurts to have 32.

There is a beta staging mode as well, it’s in the rust wiki documentation if you search for that.

Verify your game files on steam, reinstall rust server if it persists.
when i open the rustserver windows batch file it says rustdedicated.exe is not recognised as an internal or external command
Don’t open rustdedicated.exe, open the rustserver.bat, it’s a different file.

This server is entirely vanilla unless you tweak it. TCs only need a range of 13 some odd squares out.
