If the windshield frame was bent out of square, it likely put a strain on the glass and made it subject to cracking. Once it cracked it might have become easier to reposition the frame.
I appreciate your keeping the youtube audience involved in your strategy, always better results than say that previous crew that ran off. Good job Chris
Nice video. Thanks. It always bothers me that good wood is burned in the open when it would seem better to open the piles to the people who need wood for their wood stoves.

The excavator has a torsion issue when the windshield cracks. I suggest to check the cab suspension for faulty parts. They use tempered glass. A security feature.
Not good to take her money and not finish the job. Your word should be the bond in all things. Enjoy watching Chris and if I hit the jack pot would have lots of work to do. God bless.
We 've been called out to barn fires here in WI. to pull apart hay and straw for the fire dept. and have lost 2 windshields to do the extreme heat. It happens.

Been checking out your videos and I like your work man you run your machine nice and smooth. Not a lot of clanging and banging. I like that. Nice work keep up the great videos man
I'm glad things are starting to come together(wiper and windshield release, lack of rain) your starting to be a little grouchy SNAP OUT OF IT MAN and Keep Diggin😎

I would like to see a video of Tim telling you about the window. I bet he saw your truck coming and started sweating. Not from the heat of the fire either.

The biggest thing I do wrong when I hire someone is feeling sorry for them when they tell me the sob stories. I trust people too much and pay them in full before they finish the project. You fixed the windshield with a common Engineering & Maintenance Technique... You used the Percussive Maintenance Technique (AKA If it don't work, BEAT THE HELL OUT OF IT)...
Glass is a bad conductor for heat, but once it gets hot, it retains heat for a long time. Now, the outside of the glass was hot from the fire, but the inside of the glass was cooler from the cooler air inside the cab. That creates thermal tension within the glass panel and even a light deformation or mechanical stress can cause it to crack more easily.
When I burn i burn in two long thin piles, burning the small debris then combining all the larger debris once its burned down. This creates less smoke and less anger from neighbors
My cousins drove a heavy crane as a labour uioion for up until he retired. I remember him coming over with his earth mover to different family member's made life a whole lot easier than having to move it with pick and shuvol it would have taken for days was a matter of a day.
The fun goes away pretty quick. The sense of accomplishment in a job well done replaces any loss of the fun. Kinda like the change of your view on life when we are children (everything is fun, no real consequences) as opposed to being an adult (yes you can do what you want, there are consequences)
Do y'all not have a no burn ordnance this time of year?? Just curious cause I'd have fd out there n a sec if i tried burning thst right now. Usually starts about May
Yes, the excavator is not the proper machine for feeding a big fire. The glass will absorb plenty of heat and will start cracking. A heat shield in front of it would be good.
@@rrdm6085 Regular excavators are not fire-proof. The hydraulic lines will melt and burst, bearings in the boom and bucket parts will lose their lubrication and fail, the operator is in real danger of getting burnt etc. If an excavator is to be used here, then it must be rigged properly with heat shields in the boom and for the operator. Air cooling with a big fan is a minimum forcing air to the boom structures. The cabin windows should have thermal shielding laminations. Overheating alarms should be installed at various points in the machine to avoid burning the machine.
@@henrikstenlund5385 Yes, I am aware, thank you. I thought perhaps you were going to say something like a *Bulldozer* with heat shields; e.g., "We watched the Texas crew maneuvering a bulldozer covered with a heat shield; they sprayed heavy doses of water on the fires and on the vehicle so that they could continue to use it. The driver of the bulldozer used a mechanical arm to maneuver a pipe on top of the flames forcing them to rise higher into the atmosphere in a column of red. Then they would plug the pipe and thereby extinguish the fire." adst.org/2016/04/towering-infernos-the-kuwait-oil-fires/
@@rrdm6085 Yes, fighting fire is more requiring since it is an intensive job. Burning wood piles is more controlled and should stay as such. Water sprays can be used but the consumption of water will be huge. Also, the water should be drained back along the boom, not into fire.
I've seen windows broken in skid loaders lots of times!!! but very few in excavators especially doing the type of work your doing. Things that make you wonder WTF RUT or maybe your not!!! your head is not just a hat rack!!! LOL
Would a chipper or a large grinding tub take care of this quicker or better and provide more nutrients for the soil. Also in some areas people really need firewood for the cold Winters. Couldn't alness fuel be used to run a boiler and produce power somewhere.

Thanks it's a hot video , Im sure tim did not crack the window it's cold and worm .did it .
I was going to say. It doesn't look like it was hit by the way it cracked. Edit: but then again it kinda looks like it was hit in the right

Hot fire 🔥 plus cold air conditioned cab equal easily cracked glass.

hot fire and a cold rain
Doesn’t matter how hot the fire is when u jam the windshield with a log. He’ll learn
Hot Pizza box on a glass top desk cracks the glass.
