  • As we get closer to the final steps of this dining table, I wanted to explore a new kind of woodworker's diaries. One where I'm not just telling you about what I'm doing, but one where I take ya'll along with me for the week as well as what's been on my mind.
In this week's video, I think a lot about my future and where I'll potentially live one day. What about you? Do you have a place you'd like to move to? Or have you already found your forever home?

I would definitely think again about Las Vegas. Like your dream of moving to Hawaii, it might prove to be impractical. Check out small towns in the Texas hill country. Then go travel and see for yourself.

Definitely will - It’ll be a long while before we make the real call and we’ll for sure stay a few weeks at the very minimum at the different places to see for sure :-). I do appreciate the feedback though!

My ideal place to live would be a place with mild weather population not a city or rural town setting but somewhere in between and surrounded by like minded peers that share almost the same insights as myself. Thanks for sharing

I’m sorry, me again. Don’t go to Vegas, come to southeast Alabama. 80 miles from the beach, warmer taxes are cheaper lots of land to buy and your 4 hours from Atlanta (direct fight to Korea). We’ve been here 14 years and love it on our 3 acres. Lots of lumber mills around also to get great lumber at not big city prices. And maybe I could meet you and teach you a trick or two (not that you need teaching lol). Keep up the great videos

Great work getting back to that table! And thanks for the update. My Father-in-law lives in Las Vegas. It's really nice, if you like everything to be brown.

🤣🤣 I did notice that on my recent visit. I think I will not go with Vegas now, lol

Hawaiian from Hawaii here-cost of living is insane so getting proper materials might be difficult to source. Logistics can be definitely hard. That being said though you can for sure find ways to cut back on spending, like planting your own greens to cook.
I wish you both the best of luck! ♥️

Are the spiders and centipedes of Hawaii really as bad as I've heard? I can't even look at pictures of cane spiders or centipedes without being irrationally scared

Thank you for the feedback and insight - Will definitely keep all of that in mind! And thank you! It’ll be many years before we make the final call so I’m excited to see what happens until then! 😁🙌

I really like this vlog style video while your doing your craft. Being a woodworker as long as I have been, it is refreshing to see such quality and thought of projects coming from the younger generation, especially the female woodworkers. My daughter wants me to teach her and that’s what we are working towards. I’ve told her about your channel and I hope she starts watching. Miss Clara, you’ve got mad skills and I mean this sincerely. Get your partner more involved. Tell him not to be camera shy, lol

Thank you for your kind comments - I’m honored :-) Funny enough, he’s actually not camera shy at all 🤣

We tried for 3 years shipping Japanese Kitchen style using our Oak, Maple, Pine and Lyptus wood doors. It is very difficult do to the Salty oceans. Something we had to learn the hard way. orders were great, the cost or repairs did us in. I did Vegas for 5 days relief from my Canadian winter. It was to hot to walk a mile, only to learn i turned back when i had only 20 more steps and see the goal of the walk. Good luck on the choices.

Thank you so much, Keith! And yes, I agree with the shipping. This will definitely be a decision that will require a lot of time and potentially many years to figure out.

Wood furniture is large and heavy, shipping a side table (properly packed) will cost several hundred dollars, a large piece like a cabinet will cost you in excess of $1,000+

Yeah - shipping is an entirely different beast >.

I would never move anywhere sight unseen. America has a deep denial of its ugly realities and it's way too easy to overlook them. I strongly advise you make diversity a major criteria. Since your business requires affluent customers, the financial landscape of an area is equally important. Unfortunately, it limits your geographically choices to a handful of affluent regions. On the West Coast, the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Seattle should be on your list. On the East Coast, I would also add the Washington, D.C and New York Metro areas to your list. Atlanta is also a hidden gem in the otherwise undesirable Southeast.

I’ll definitely be considering and reconsidering - it’ll be a goooood handful of years before we make the call :-)

Why not Clara wear more proper clothes? Such as long sleeves shirt for more safety at work. Long trouser and also safety hand gloves.
