R32 GTRs spend more time in the shop than on the street…. From personal experience 😂 haven’t even driven mine yet and I bought it November 2022. There is just so much that breaks on these things.
I think it's just an old Nissan thing. My 240's have been the same way. Runs great for like 3 months then another issue pops up and it's down for half a year lol.
Ashame to see these beauties always in the shop but thats how it goes when you have the 2 most expensive cars to maintain. Hope it comes back in great condition and the RX7 holds out for you in the meantime. I got an RX8 now as a weekender and loving the rotary scene, got a Rotary Bum kit shipped to AUS i just wish you had an affiliate code to help you out. Keep up the great work, looking forward tp the next vid.
Really love your videos man. You’re really relatable just a cad enthusiast having fun with the cars he worked hard for and going they the struggles of fixing it. Unlike these other youtubers who have money snd sponsors on end.
Legit the story of my A70 right now. Built it, got it on some decent supporting mods. Turbo seal blew and was burning oil while driving 2 weeks later. starved my head, cams are grooved, spun a bearing. Its a sad life dawg
My r33 was just down a month because the tacho stopped working and had to send it off for repair. I think I'm going to keep mine mostly stock, as the power goes up on them the reliability goes down.
I would say that is only true if you are a certain type of person. I have seen a friend build a miata with 400+ hp, its more reliable with its current mods than before.
Thats what makes an RB26 makes an RB26 🤣 mine had the same Damage, it begins with lowered Oil Pressure, then you know the Crank bearings are nearly dead, at some Point. A Few Things for you. Spend Money to the PRP Spline Drive Kit an the N1 Oil Pump, so it will be stable to High Rev. Install an Big Oil Cooler and additionally Install an head Dran, if you put Boost into the RB26 the Oil Blows to the Head like shit, also you should install Oil Restrictors, so not that Much oil will come to the Cams. For your Driving it would be also good to Install the Tomei Oil Pan Baffle, Skylines Oil Pan is not best designed for fast Corners, it will otherwise drag the Oil away and the Engine is unable to Pump Oil back up.
I’m from Quebec here’s a tip, never trust Québec cars when they sell them to us people. I’ve seen so much shady stuff and the shadiest cars are always listed in usd and stuff. I remember this 32 being a red flag when I first saw the ad last year. I’m sorry that you have such a bad experience from my province. Also my little bro is named Charles and is probably the nicest and trustful person I know:)
Erik, what do you do for work? I’m just curious. I don’t wanna know where or what company specifically because that’s weird but what field? You said you have to travel so made me curious, love your vids man
Dude i hope it will come out soon, great vids, personally that's why i bought a new car, i mean don't get me wrong i would love to have a 90's Initial D car, but let's be real lol they are 30+ year cars, i love them but they are a pain in the ass, a good pain i guess ? lmao
if my math is correct (which it usually is not), Eric just about woke up cuzit's been three hours since upload and he said he'd sleep about three hours...so hi Eric!
My car idles at 80psi cold, but once it's warm, it idles at 18psi. Dummy light comes on at 8psi. For the record, I have had the oil tested each change by Blackstone and they say the engine is in good condition (based on the oil sample) given the mods, tune, age of 25 years, and mileage of 200K+. When it comes to older cars (especially those that are turbo'd), owners have to be on top of everything because they're more susceptible to breaking when pushed hard and parts may be difficult to come by. Knowing things like what idle oil pressure is at a warm or a cold start, peak boost, average boost, water temp required for the radiator fan to increase in speed, etc. is valuable. Unfortunately in this case, it's difficult to figure out what those things are for a car when the previous owner/builder isn't transparent. That said, I feel like Eric should've been a bit more careful with pushing the car if there was uncertainty on the build quality. For instance, if I hear the car I'm purchasing had a rebuilt motor (regardless of whether it was due to mechanical failure or for installing forged components), I'd still baby it for a few thousand miles there is a chance that the motor was not rebuilt properly and things were overlooked; put in fresh oil, get the oil tested after 5k miles, and go off of what the results show.
40 psi cold start idle is low for these cars. Factory spec for 7.5W-30 at 80C oil temp fully warmed up is 21 psi at idle, 43 psi at 2000 rpm, 65 psi at 6000 rpm. If an RB26 runs any lower than that it's a sign of either too much clearance for the pump, broken oil pump from cavitation, improper machining/assembly, defective pump gears, or other similar issues.
I love it when you have a car you like and then it's broken for months on end, best car enthusiast experience
My car is coming back today after a month with no car yippee

Some people literally do not deserve to have a car like the r32. Charles was obviously one of them.
Edit: i'd say hes more of an altima guy
3:07 that paint on the sunroof is horrendous. lmaoooo
Hoping for a swift recovery with the GTR, You and your cars definitely motivate my drive for cars!
r32s are probably even more fun to drive once you realize how hard it is to get one running at all

You sent your car off because of 40psi at idle on coldstart? What was it under load? Spec is 14.7 at 1krpm at operating temp
