Hi, I'm from the Netherlands. I went to Poland for Euroweek and we some of the Polish group taught us the dance from this (Belgijka) absolutely loved it and the song is beautiful!
I am from Ukraine and I absolutely in love with the dance that is tied with the song. We call it "Belgium dance". And the last time we danced it on the wedding. Today I translated the lyrics and I'm laughing out loud. This song is about the guy that regrets about being married. So using the song on the wedding is completely crazy) But anyway thank you for the song energy!
Its crazy Im from Austria (german) and I completely understand the first sentence alone. Then individual words again and again. But I can make sense of it. Great song. Love it.
It is 200 year old Dutch, but indeed resembles German quite a bit: "Wie wilt hooren een historie / al van eenen jongen smid" "Wer will hören eine Historie / von einen jungen Schmidt"
I had the pleasure to dance with youngs polish in Portugal this Sunday 30 july, because of the WYD 2023 Lisboa. This folk song is amazing and have a really good vibe. I'm glad to know it now.
Een klassieker, ooit ook door Miek en Roel gebracht met super jondersteuning van Roland. Maar op Dranouterfest heb ik nooit een tent meer zien en horen ontploffen bij deze eerste tonen, zalig !
If you know the song, "Devil Woman" by Cliff Richard, it has similar vibes. The song is sung in Vlaams (Flemish), which is similar to Dutch - they are very very closely related. Literally the song is called, The Smithy - or Blacksmith. It's about a young blacksmith who went to France, got married, hates his wife, he hates his life now, she talks too much, he can't even had a beer or wine with his friends etc. He misses his hammer and anvil. That's kind of the vibe.
Nie ma czegoś takiego jak język belgijski - na południu (Walonia) mówi się po francusku, na północy (Flandria) po niderlandzku. A Flamandzki w którym śpiewają to w dużym uproszczeniu jakaś odmiana niderlandzkiego
Title & band of this song are the title of this RUclips video. Just use Google to search the original Dutch lyrics. Then, use Google Translate to translate them to your language, if you want to understand what they're saying...

In Poland "Belgijka" is popular among young people. They dance it at proms and even at weddings.
In Poland we call it: Belgijka, what means: The Belgian dance
first time i heard this song was in gdansk
They actually played their first concert in Poland in August 2022.
im from belgium
It's called a chapelloise. Look for balfolk dancing in your area.
It should also mean "Belgian" (when referring to female, not just dance), right?
I was taught the Belgian dance in middle school,it's so fun
Thanks for your music from New Zealand. We frequently dance to it.
Its crazy

Utwór kozacki, a język wulgarnie intrygujący . :) Czy tak brzmi belgijski ?
This is old Flemish. I speak Flemish and I understand most of it but the structure and certain words sound weird!
