I'm 59 and use an A5 for the final leg of my commute. I could walk the last mile, but why? Scooting is fun, the breeze feels sublime, I whiz past others on foot, my students think I'm a boss, and finally, why do you care what people think anyway. Live your life.
@@ayhcenkard2965 When chinese companies like Razor starting making cheap junk ones. Definitely get the Xootr brand instead. Nice real scooter, you can beat it up and barely maintain it and it still works good as new.
Well people like the electric scooters based on their design so you can blend in with them as a common sight. Its not a toy anymore thanks to that. Its more of a case that bike lanes hardly exist and its quite awful to move around most american cities to begin with because of the massive sprawl and often complete lack of good public transport, so for everyone only option is a car and this makes things worse for everyone.
Wow all this talk about age, people 18 or 20s and asking if they are too old. I am 55 YEARS OLD and I just ordered one for commuting 1.8 miles. I already surf, swim, run, bike, etc. This will be fun.
Phoebe Lo I ordered my Oxelo Town 9 adult kick scooter just so that I can ride it around my college campus because walking distances between classes and my car are really far
In grade 7 and 8, I used to ride my scooter to school. My school was roughly a mile away, 15-20 minutes to walk. The scooter probably made it 10 minutes, and much more fun either way. It also folded nicely and fit in my locker, which kept it safe and out of the rain. My school wasn't far enough to really bother with biking, although I did that a few times, too. I just preferred locker storage over keeping a bike locked up outside where it could get stolen or rained on.
I've had the A5 for about 5 years and it is great. I use it for keeping up with the kids or to get from the bus to my buddies houses for drinking sessions. Yes, I do get some funny looks and verbal abuse from my fellow drunkards when I'm scooting through the centre of town at 3am to catch my bus back to the burbs. Grow up and be miserable already! I love these social norms that say you can't do something because you are too old. Would you rather walk for a half hour or kick scooter for 10 minutes?
I keep my Razor A5 in the back of my car. It's a fun way to explore new city areas. Also handy for getting back home after I leave my car overnight at the shop and bus late-night frequency drops to zero; walking a bit far and putting on bicycle rack a bit of a hassle.
I'm old. I was born in 1973! But I ride my Razor Phase II kick scooter which has 5" knobby tires inflated to 100psi whenever I'm not fixing it's flat tires. I get high fives every time. It's a pleasure to ride for 5 miles straight. Uphill is a challenge so I usually just pick it up since it is only 12 pounds. Being a "Pro Scooter" it does not fold however.

What a workout as I really feel the rides working my glutes with the leg that remains on the deck. Soz about the long post ,I don’t have many guys my age to talk to about this. I have lost the initial embarrassment of a 48y.o guy riding ;what could be classed as a kids toy and I am glad my wife is very supportive.
Heck yeah man, I'm 44 and I don't feel embarrassed riding them at all. I actually wish I had gotten into scooting sooner. Kudos to you for putting fun and exercise over people who probably wish they were doing it also! Maybe you inspired someone. :)
I use mine for transportation like when I’m going around the corner to the store. Don’t wanna waste gas. If you’re riding around cause you don’t wanna walk it’s fine. Same as a bike, but cheaper.
There with ya - want to get one too. Guess at this age you've learned not to take yourself too seriously. For serious riding I'd get skates or a foldable bike though.
I wouldn't care what people think. However, if you travel in areas of uneven pavement or dirt or gravel, or ride in hilly areas, a multi-speed folding bike might be more practical. I never liked having a single speed bike, and was quite happy when I upgraded to a multi-speed one. Although folding bikes are heavier than kick scooters, they can be put in a bag with wheels and pulled behind you when necessary. Most bike riders can also ride faster and farther, which can be quite nice when you don't want to wait for the next (maybe) hourly bus to arrive. Folding bikes don't seem to have really caught on, though.
I'm working on getting the hang of a long board, because I personally like them better. But for now I just bought a Razor Urban Commuter on Amazon to make the 15 minute walk from the parking lot to work faster.
what is the age limit for this? are there also weight limit? I'm 32 years old, and interested to use one. Yes, I might have to swallow my pride riding this, but I'm going to use this on campus, and ride a bus most of the time. Just want to save time for walking distance.
I just bought one 5 minutes ago. I drive to work or I bike to work on nice days. However I found a secreeeet path to my job that requires me to cross a railroad track and ditch ( I get to work in 6 minutes as oppose to 20 :D). My bike is far too heavy to drop down then pick back up out of the ditch (I've tried the first and last time). So I was looking at a transportational device that is light and functional. So I am here! lol!
They need a smallish wire basket on the stem so people could put something like a small bluetooth speaker in there for the commute. Ear pods would be a gamble with traffic, etc. around.
Oh, I've come across that xootr one before, to give some up to date context, they've changed their lock to a little button you can press down on now instead of the little metal bar you have to manually remove and put back in
Honestly if you want to get around on a kick scooter as an adult, just bite the bullet and get yourself a modern pro scooter just like you'll see down at the skate park. They're very solidly built, won't give you a loose, jittery ride like an 'adult' fold-up scooter will, and many of the modern pro scooters have 120mm diameter wheels which are quite a bit larger than in the early days of scooters. Certainly much larger than on a children's scooter, and as a result, you get a very smooth, easy ride. You can pick up a top quality kick scooter for around $300 and it'll last for ages. Only thing you'll generally need to replace each year is the wheels which are perhaps $50 a pair. Have a look at the Series 6 or 7 Envy Heist or Charge scooters to get an idea.
I used to be really into my razor scooters as a kid, because my dad would find them as a scrapper and even give them out to neighboring kids. Now the only scooter i use is an escooter from a company called Swagtron. Its definately a lowcost escooter because it cant go 20mph, but it beats walking especially if you have an AC outlet battery in your backpack. People in my area prefer bikes out on the road, but zipping through sidewalks and neighborhood roads in one of these is a lot more fun imo
Why on earth would riding a kick scooter when you are grown-up be weird? It's a perfectly valid means of transportation. It's the same as saying "Roller skating is for children only". I have never heard anyone around me (grown-ups) be ridiculed for using a kick scooter. Btw I would also put some more protection on the elbows and knees just in case (and not to mess up the Armani suit if you fall LOL).

Looks amazing. For this price can get an electric one, but it's light and perfect for exercise, so why not invest the money, yeah, thumbs up. P.S. today I got a similar scooter, yet heavier, higher deck, for about third the price. Maybe upgrade to this one at some point.
I bought a Xootr...I kept flying off of it in Los Angeles (not safe being people can't drive in a straight line)....there is no shock so any little crack would have me flying off. Though the idea is awesome.
that thing is way to expensive for what it is... suggestion, add a pad made of rubber onto the deck so it cushions the bumps, to add more cushioning carve onto the pad a a series of gaps like a grid or honeycomb, this so the material has a way to spread into the gaps, there are other brands with suspension system and even disk brakes yet you need to have tools at hand as they seem to need to be calibrated
hey.i just got my kick scooter. how did u stand up straight while keep riding it? i kept falling off my scooter? how do u turn left or right side walk when u ride?
I own five scooters including 2 razor a5 and three kickboards (3wheels so u can free one hand while scootering around much more stable than regular scooter and more flexible deck thanks to the fiber glass maple board and the ball head handle bar makes the scooter more adult looking plus it’s very solid . I'm guna get me one of these and the original little one razor for my son so we can ride together. I had so much fun as A kid on A JD bug. but all my friends had razors.
Would you say this is a useful way to travel in Chicago? I’m going there first a real vacation in a couple weeks. It’ll be my first since 2016 and I’ve got plantar fasciitis. I’ve been trying to think of ways to limit all the pounding on my feet for when I can’t get close parking.
Rigid scooters are very dangerous devices if they are used on real streets. Every soil blemish, every service hatch, every uneven or lost paver, every curb will be a big problem. They are very noisy too and will transmit all vibrations from the sidewalks to the driver. The problem is that the user thinks it is an innocent device, not like skateboards, which require some skill. The accident will happen while driving slowly, unexpectedly and will be abrupt, more than you can imagine. The brake on the fender is very ineffective, and in the wet, I can't imagine. An adult scooter should have a wide handlebar with brakes, suspension and air tires, and use it on a route where you already know each trap. Believe me, exploring an unknown place with these scooters is not a good idea. So keep these tips in mind and take care of all of you!
Is there a video out there that teachs you how to drive these in bussy traffic :/ for se one whos never driven a car. My sidewalks suck so cant use em there
If the embarrassment factor really bothers you that much you could try a Cruiser skateboard but they are much more easy to trip and faceplant because of debris
Navigating angled kerbs is taking a little more practice and I may need to buy a cheap razor A4. This is more appropriate to master simple tricks to transfer skills over to my commute scooter
So...now I must remember what kids toy I thought would be easy but had me sitting still but my laughing Foster son was on it and gone? Couldn't be this. This seems attainable. Oh I know. Scooter board, no handle.

Better suggestion. Gte a kick bike or any scooter with 16 inch wheels.
hey.i just got my kick scooter.
how did u stand up straight while keep riding it?
i kept falling off my scooter?
how do u turn left or right side walk when u ride?
My only complaint is having my wheels get clogged up with all the panties girls throw at me when I ride through my college campus
I own five scooters including 2 razor a5 and three kickboards (3wheels so u can free one hand while scootering around much more stable than regular scooter and more flexible deck thanks to the fiber glass maple board and the ball head handle bar makes the scooter more adult looking plus it’s very solid . Find the kickboard name k2 kick 2or micro kickboard original on ebay made in Germany designed in Sweden .hard to get to used to in first few days and can be mastered in a week after that you won’t like to go back to regular scooter I can garentee u
The regular scooter use handle bar to control turns .kickboard like micro kickboard original and monster version use your body leans to steer .thats make it different .wheni bought it I just like the weirdness but after week or two I felt deeply in love with kickboard .unique design almost everyone will stop u and ask you what it is.folds half the size than razor a5 plus it rides exceptional comfort with same deck high with razor a5
Yeah seen them kick boards. They lok pretty cool. Are they tricky to learn? I like tricky stuff.
The only thing I am worried about is people trying to hit me with their car doors and eggs.
This things are really fun and fast! I rraversed almost all the city with this beauty!
Thats right why should kids have all the fun even adults wants to have fun enjoy for adult scooter
i'm 80..ride a 16" wheeled scoot in NYC parks
I'm a 18-year-old and going to buy one tomorrow but don't know if it would look funny or not?! I will buy one with big wheels like abec-7 or something.
Mid teen here and I just got one... If anyone laughs then they suck lol. Ride on!
I'm guna get me one of these and the original little one razor for my son so we can ride together. I had so much fun as A kid on A JD bug. but all my friends had razors.
Im 30 and I just bought one, its arriving thursday. My 20 min walk to grocery store is now cut in half
Are you still using a scooter? How are your knees holding up? I developed knee pains riding a scooter.
I just ordered one today
Would you say this is a useful way to travel in Chicago? I’m going there first a real vacation in a couple weeks. It’ll be my first since 2016 and I’ve got plantar fasciitis. I’ve been trying to think of ways to limit all the pounding on my feet for when I can’t get close parking.
Just ordered the micro black, waiting for it to arrive hopefully tomorrow!
Scootering is for kids, teens, & adults and especially for everyone haha
I wish it would fold up super small and fit in a back pack... then I could go shopping:)
Get a skateboard backpack and you can strap the scooter on!
I am 50 years old woman now I want learn.
just wondering, if u have to follow traffic rules or u can be a pedestrian and just skip red lights through pedestrian lane
I think it depends how you want to drive, either as a bicycle with cars or a pedestrian. I think pedestrian pavement is safer and better tbh.
Is there a video out there that teachs you how to drive these in bussy traffic :/ for se one whos never driven a car. My sidewalks suck so cant use em there
That's the same one I got but I fell off of it and got injured pretty bad so I am trying to learn to ride better
How much cost of the skate cycle pls reply
You’d reach your destination faster than being stuck in the traffic.
I use an electric scooter to get to work. Best investment l ever made. Zoom past traffic and can travel for miles on a single charge.
If the embarrassment factor really bothers you that much you could try a Cruiser skateboard but they are much more easy to trip and faceplant because of debris
I'm 42. Just got the Razor A5 air.
Can I ride this kind of scooters on cycle lanes ? I want to buy one but I don’t know if they have the same rules as a bike
Great video!
Does any one commute to work using one of this while carrying a backpack?
Got one in college
Navigating angled kerbs is taking a little more practice and I may need to buy a cheap razor A4. This is more appropriate to master simple tricks to transfer skills over to my commute scooter
So...now I must remember what kids toy I thought would be easy but had me sitting still but my laughing Foster son was on it and gone? Couldn't be this. This seems attainable. Oh I know. Scooter board, no handle.
I remember as good i bought one pushing with legs now i have beast electric scooter we live the feature
i like that. i need to repair the bearing to restore to working condition.
He's totally right about why the annoying nowadays kids have all the fun naaaa😅😅😅😅😂😂😂
they were riding the front wheel backwards in the first clip
No, its the design of that scooter, its for some reason got negative rake. Maybe its for no hands haha.
The ride is jittery due to the quick snap handle bars tape will fix that
great review!
Do you know any Group rides?
And some adults don’t have that control because of Disability but still want some thing. It’s a good medium.
