I don't know how channels like yours aren't doing as well as they should be. This is history and probably some of the most well documented history in histor. Is it significant? No, not necessarily but, for my generation this holds so much value and shows the evolution of us humans. It's a sad but beautiful thing to have been there to witness and be able to go back and feel like I'm walking to the movie theater or a Barnes and Nobles again.
You really knocked this one out of the park. This mall is definitely in deep trouble. The drywall has spread down to pretty much everything near Sears and Macy's on the first floor. Reminds me of what Hull Properties does to malls, but they at least put some art and murals up to cover up the drywall. You probably have the last footage of the second floor before they kill off that whole level completely. The Macy's is probably marked for closure as well.
I visited this mall over summer, definitely could see either this or mid rivers close next. I think the mall that will continue to do well overall is west county center, gets really busy.
Blocking off sections of a mall is kinda like a lung cancer blocking off the airways. It starts off small, then it grows and grows until death. I was in this mall last year and I thought it was going well until I saw that lockage. Not going to lie, it hurts a little. Thank you for filming it before it was sealed off.
18:28 last year (2023) the sprinkler system broke and the ceiling was falling to the floor. The area was completely flooded. Also, the best stores are joes records and vstock
I was told by a slackers employee when it was upstairs that they were told to move downstairs. Slackers moved into a smaller space than what they were already in. Slackers only have 6 stores left in the company 3 in Missouri and 3 in Illinois. They have been liquidating and closing more and more stores. 3 in the last year actually. Sad to say that will be another st.louis chain to close in the future.
Looking at the way South County Mall is fairing, it’s definitely on the decline right along with Mid Rivers Mall. West County Mall, and the St. Louis Galleria are most likely be the only 2 surviving malls in the next 2-5 years. West County specifically seems to be going strong with how busy it can get there at times.
@@WaveformVFX even so, I have buddies that live/work around the Galleria, and the crime has caused some stores to leave. My bet is on West County to stay around the longest
that's insane work.. A Unopened Round One. Completely blocking one thirds of the dying mall is crazy. This mall looks like it's fate will come in just within a couple years.
Everything would be fine if they would just shut the whole place down for a few months, do a little remodeling, get new shops in there and food other than ONLY oriental food and do a grand reopening to get people excited. 🤷♀️
SoCo in general has gotten ghetto so I'm not surprised. I haven't went to the mall in ages because I don't wanna get shot, and generally can't stand the class of people who go there now. A spillover from IL, Cahokia and ESL. I can't even imagine going to Walmart on Telegraph lol.
South county isn't even that bad lol. And what do you mean by "cant stand the class of people". What people? I mean yeah there's the occasional group of stupid teens being loud and obnoxious but nothing other than that. If you have boujie taste then go to west county which is known everywhere else as "the rich people mall". Hate on the mall all you want for it being crappy (because it is) but don't put your hate umbrella on the whole area and the people who live there (I live right down the road from the mall and go all the time)😂. And the Walmart on telegraph is a normal walmart. You have first world problems if you can't even fathom going.

@@GRM.Adventures Oh yeah, I avoid the Galleria for those reasons. West County seems to be the best kept mall out of the ones still standing now.
wow i didnt know it has gotten that bad mid rivers is getting bad as well but not that bad

Is this the same company that owned chesterfield mall?
Mid Rivers isn't far behind, so many shuttered stores there now and the food court is a joke!
Very true, their food court had a doomed future ever since H&M took most of it over.
One of my goto mall slowly dying I barely don’t want to get shut down

I Request you to visit west county center, the sister to this mall
@@Lancetherandomgamer I plan on it after the holiday rush ;)
