I have a Cosori dual blaze air fryer, which has a heating element on the top and the bottom. No need to shake or flip. Also, after the air fryer is cooled, I wipe out the inside, including around the heating elements. Then I leave an open box of arm and hammer baking soda inside the air fryer to absorb the odors. Works like a charm!

Re: liners. I just put my liner under the crisper tray or rack. The air can still circulate, but my airfryer pan is protected.

Liners work best if you have the oven type air fryer. No air is blocked and chicken can drip a lot of grease.

Awesome tips...Luckily my only mistake so far it using flat liners that were not waxy like parchment & it caught on fire 1st time using it. I trashed them immediately but honestly I raved about the taste of the wings slightly BBQ flavor. I used Avacado oil in a glass sprayer & squeezed lime juice overtop. YUM! I just got a wire rack I guess to have dual layers & it had 2" feet. Because it sat up higher it seemed to cook Chicken Sausage w/kale very fast. I don't use presets but the air fryer magnetic guide seems to be not enough to cook fully so I just add several minutes. Note: I had frozen pigs in a blanket & cooked them after spraying & turned half way & they turned out fabulous. I'm still learning though. Thanks for a great vid.

Thanks for mentioning the refillable oil sprayer - everyone should be using these, they're so great. I switched to this from years of using the caned stuff and I wish I had done so sooner. I always hated the giant mist the cans would leave over half the kitchen. Also hated having to shake the can before every use, and knowing there were weird chemicals in there other than just oil.

I use parchment on the bottom for easy clean up. But, always with a stainless stainless steel cooling rack on top. #1 It holds parchment down. #2 It allows maximum air flow for CRISP!

Love my simple 3 button Chefman which is great for one! Love the liners and already put them under the basket. Also got a sprayer and use Avocado oil.
Love the tip on steam for reheated carbs! I always wet a paper towel and clump it up in the microwave for pizza, so water makes sense in the air fryer basket as well!

Prompted here by YT ! Thank you, Sir. Useful tips. From a south-Asian region. Pre-heating is an issue, since our regional cuisine is so dependent on high heat / high flame cooking, air-fryer pre-heating allows one to start at a certain predictable basal level, so as to acheive an uniform take-off temperature in the chamber. This is to mainly ensure that spices, 'shocked' by that initial flash of high heat, release their otherwise volatile oils, quickly into the food. Also, of course, as you have pointed out, meats brown or sear to that desired crispiness, and smoky or 'browned' flavour, as is desired in meat dishes like kababs/kebabs and tandoori-based recipes.

Great video, thank you. I've made the majority of these mistakes. I want to give everyone this tip on cleaning their air fryer baskets - ADD BAKING SODA. It's a game changer. Soak the basket in hot water and equal parts dish soap and baking soda. It basically melts the grease away, even caked on stuff. I was at the point where I was avoiding using the air fryer because I dreaded dealing with the grease clean up afterward. Then about a month ago I tried the baking soda trick I saw online - so glad I did.

Biggest tip on cleaning as you said is clean right away, but also to use the air fryer to instantly dry everything by popping it in for 5 mins at 400F once you rinse your cook tray well enough and dump excess water. No need to let it drip dry on a towel or inside the dishwasher.

I have been preheating for fries but my wife likes to start cooking the other stuff as soon as I start the preheat, so the fries have always been late to the table. I do use brand-name cooking spray for some meals, and I'm not worried about any of the other ingredients in the spray.

I love my air fryer. If I use a preset, I change the time down to half of the preset time. That forces me to remember to shake or flip. Usually I will reset the second half of the time maybe one or two minutes less. Then when the buzzer goes I check it and can add more time if I think it needs it. As my mother always said about cooking, you can always add but you can’t subtract.
I love cooking chicken drumsticks, frozen pies, chips and fish etc. I have cooked a chicken in it and a piece of pork with crackling. It’s also really good to crisp up cookies if you like them crunchy not soft. I have watched videos of liquid things being cooked in an air fryer, like breakfast eggs, but not sure about that. I’ve heard liners flap about with the air inside the fryer. Not convinced that the liquid wouldn’t be sucked up onto the heating element?

I use my air fryer in my man cave where water is only in bottles. Too much grease is a problem and easy cleanup is essential. With liners I don't need to clean out the tray as often. So for me liners are a must.

@maxineb9598The term ‘air flow’ should give you all the information you need. Air fryers work on the principal of air ‘convection’, and blocking the air flow significantly decreases the efficiency of any air fryer.

I understand the limitations of liners, but I usually don't even need to clean the tray if I use them. I NEVER put them under screen, it defeats the purpose. Also, I use tablespoons in the corners to keep the paper weighted down if I don't have enough food in the tray so it doesn't get blown into the coils. FYI, I have the Typhur Dome 2.
