- "My Adirondack Home" performed by the Bacon Brothers, pays tribute to the summer home of Michael and Kevin Bacon and their families, as they have a family camp in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. The song features in the Emmy Award-Winning documentary "Songs to Keep: Treasures of an Adirondack Folk Collector." The program showcases folk music collected by a historian named Marjorie Lansing Porter in the 1940s, '50s and '60s. Producer Paul Larson won the Emmy for outstanding documentary at the Boston/New England Regional Emmy Awards. "Songs to Keep: Treasures of an Adirondack Folk Collector" is a production of Mountain Lake PBS.
Aloha- My name is Dave, I am one of Marjorie Lansing's grandsons. I moved fro Davis Ca. to the Big Island in 1993. I had a recording studio in Davis Ca. from 1981 that helped put college bands on the map. After moving to the Big Island, I immediately fell in love with the local culture and music, and started recording the locals here right away. I then got a job with the famous George Winston as a second engineer (yes, the pianist, but he also played slack key guitar and had a record company, "Dancing Cat Records") , and also had to document all the takes. I learned how to phonetically spell in Hawaiian ('tho I hardly understand a word), and got to hear all the history behind the songs and more. It wasn't until 2010 that I learned what my grandmother had done. I was shocked, but proud. I was able to visit SUNY in 2012, where they have her original wax recorder and all her discs in the special collections section. I couldn't take my eyes off the one red light on the front of her wax recorder to indicate the record level. At that point I had spent 30 years looking at VU meters, to gaze upon that one light was magic for me. I don't record much anymore, mostly live sound- I just did sound for The Kingston Trio last week, but my favorites are the local falsetto singers.

I grew up in the Adirondacks on Lake Champlain. Left to DC in1972, I'm ready to go back home. My mom is gone but my dad is 87 strong. It is a great life except for the outrageous taxes since NY mad the Adirondacks a state park. Still yearn to return. Thanks for the song.
I wish they could play at our Forestport Fire Fighters Birthday weekend in August. We take care of the area they have a camp in. It would be absolutely wonderful if they would do something like that for us

I was born in Cooperstown. Last summer saw The Bacon Brothers in concert at the Waterville Maine opera house. It's New Years Eve I'm in southern Texas and this popped up for me. It hit home in my heart. Thank you from Roger Bacon.
