    Your turbo oil drain MUST be at the bottom. You only need to loosen the bolts that clamp the turbine and compressor housings and you will be able to rotate the centre housing. I see others have mentioned a oilfeed restrictor. I use the same turbo on a bike which has 60psi oil pressure and have a 1mm restrictor in the oil supply line. If you do these mods the smoke should disappear. Nice job on the bike

    the amount of boost he is making for the size of the motor and valve count is respectable. I have a 180cc 4v makes more boost but that comes down to turbo sizing. great vid.

  • @readylucas
    @readylucas 2 года назад +99

    For the people claiming it isnt making boost 1- the gauge is in bars i think.. meaning he is making 2-3 psi from what i saw. 2- give him credit. some people slap plastic turbines on their cars in the name of science. when the question has already been answered. it doesnt work. If anything the fake turbos reduce air into an engine XD, but this little motors can be boosted with the right setup. if u watch the gauge he does make boost, and an engine doesnt jump to the limiter like that n/a ahahaha

    • @readylucas
      @readylucas 2 года назад +1

      @sourand jaded Does this result in an increase in preformance? i thought i was seeing 3 psi maybe no? Im not an expert but it looked to be working to me.

    • @readylucas
      @readylucas 2 года назад

      @sourand jaded I think i see what you mean now after slowing down the video. so in basic terms what does that mean? why does it need a plenum for boost? Is it because there is nothing for pressure to build, so it just jets straight in? Again not an expert but i think your saying its not making boost because it cant build enough pressure?

    • @readylucas
      @readylucas 2 года назад

      @sourand jaded so basically the charge pipe/plenum serves as an area to build boost correct? Im not nearly as educated I understood like half of that.

    • @readylucas
      @readylucas 2 года назад +2

      @sourand jaded I have seen a video of a 125 making 15 psi it looked wicked. Dude was on ice too

    • @klausbrinck2137
      @klausbrinck2137 2 года назад +3

      @sourand jaded To my understanding, the timing in a 3-cylinder is even better than in a 4-cylinder... But a 2stroke-variable-lenght-resonance-chamber is easier and cheaper to make, in order to keep boost of a single cylinder always at optimum...
      ruclips.net/video/0odVzSgufjk/видео.html Automatic system
      ruclips.net/video/xgj-_vdcO7w/видео.html 12:35 manual system (he changes the buffle-position with a screwdriver, but it´s a proof-of-concept for you to watch)... Chamber-rear-buffle has been moved by 3cm for each run, so torque stays at maximum, but for a higher rpm at each run.
      Conclusion, by moving the chamber, or even solely the chamber´s rear-buffle, you can match the exhausts resonance-length in a way, that you always have optimal, total combustion (always functioning in resonance with the expansion-chamber, at any rpm, means, that no fuel escapes unburnt through the exhaust anymore), and maximal boost... With simple low-tech, no turbo or cylinder-head-valves needed.

    I am a turbocharger manufacture from China. I like your video. This turbo is used on Suzuki JIMNY. It's a very nice choice. It's almost the smallest turbo I have ever seen. My suggestion is to put the turbo under your engine. The engine oil must gose into the turbo BEFORE it starts to work.

  • @acebisnar861

    G'day from West Australia, 😉
    Think your turbo needs an oil restrictor in the feed line.
    If you do have one it needs to be a lot smaller.
    Otherwise you engine sump will end up dry, and a blown up motor with no bearings left.
    Otherwise nice build, 2 thumbs up from me 🙂👍👍

    In addition to other comments. I also noticed what looked like the air bubles in the turbo drain going upwards. It might be that there's back pressure in the crank case which is pushing vent air back through the inlet side of the turbo bearing slip rings. A idea to would be to run the drain into a bucket for 30 seconds (don't run out of oil!) and see if it made a difference.

    Looks like the turbo has a dynamic seal for use above the throttle valve not the carbon seal needed for use downstream of the throttle/carburetor.......meaning it will be sucking oil in thru the turbo seal and into the motor whenever its not making boost pressure.

    Everyone is talking about oil burning that is caused wrong angle or wrong size of oil feed & drain... But the real reason is that thraw through turbo setup issue is that when carburetor is closed, intake vacuum starts to suck oil from turbo to intake... These style setups need carbon axle seal in compressor...

    The turbocharger that Honda used on their 500/650 twin back in the day was much smaller than the one you are using. If I recall correctly, the impeller was about the diameter of a nickel. The turbo HAS to be small so that the exhaust gases (minimal as they are) can actually make the rotating assembly spin fast enough to create usable boost.

    What's the A/R ratio of the turbo you chose and the impeller size? For a 125cc engine to not induce excessive turbo lag in my experience, you would need the NLA IHI Brand 17mm turbo with a computer controlled electronic wastegate, as this would be the only type that could respond quickly enough to the input signals of this tiny engine. If we go back 30-odd years, Honda had fits with their original CXT500 turbo in what '83 with a 33mm turbo? When they upped the engine displacement to 643cc's in '85 and the turbo to a 35mm and went to a full electronic fuel injection management system, it became a docile, fine running roadster competent to almost any liter plus Superbike sold, with superb handling due to it's lighter weight and mass centralization.

      how to make vehicles run on alkali solution, ammonia solution, alcohol solution: electrolysis (can be fuelcell dry/wet hho, radio frequency hho, or plasma hho generators) inside fuel filter (injection vehicles) or big custom float bowl (carburetor vehicles) , and inside combustion chamber by plasma from multi sparkplugs, water laser ignition sparkplugs, we need hack the electrycity by change regular stator/altenator with high current one, then adding air scoop with wind turbine electric generator (all land, sea and aviation vehicles can use it as external electic current generator) inside it and put alternator on propeller shaft or axle (for cars, truck and other wheelers vehicles) and electric motor stator generator inside center of rear velg and front velg (for cars, motorcycles) this guaranteed free energy by movement of vehicles and wind that come from front of vehicles, then use supercapacitor in hydrogen generator connection cable and varistor in coil-ignition sparkplugs cable, then make electrolysis inside fuel filter first electrolysis (pem or plasma hho or by radio freq hydrogen generator), because grafity effect, water inside fuel filter or float bowl will make pressure so hydrogen don't come back to fuel tank come down but up right into injector or carburetor fuels spray, by injecting or spraying both hydrogen and water into internal combustion chamber chain reaction (explosion by next electrolysis stage must been happening inside combustion chamber) plasma sparkplugs or water laser ignition sparkplugs will make electrolysis+ignition , the principle is same like lightning strike on sea (natural electric plasma electrolysis) that convert sea water into hydrogen and oxygen + make pressure at sea water then burn it cause by lightning strike hit hydrogen (explosion of water on sea by lighting strike) on it this mean all vehicles actualy can run and burn on water and hydrogen, the scheme will same to fuelcell electric vehicles which when inside i.c.e engine we burn hydrogen and water in fcev we just injecting hydrogen from electrolysis right into fuelcell

      The reason for the smoke is that these turbo's have the incorrect type of seal on the shaft into the compressor housing. And what is happening is when the engine is at idle or off throttle eg: under vacuum, it's sucking oil through the turbo shaft seal. I know this as I used the same turbo years ago on a 140cc thumpster. Remove the turbo and you will find excessive amount of oil in the intake port and turbo outlet. Not sure if there is a turbo this size that has the correct seal type to be under negative pressure. Great build though! Very neat!!

    As soon as you took the rotary tool to the frame in Australia it would be written off.
    Not mentioning you have to get it re-engineered if you change the induction of an engine here as we

    excelent work but you need to change the rubberpipes that you installed for engine oil they will melt by the heat of bike because pipe is close to engine clutch side and it always heats more than magnet side.

    All that smoke is your turbo oil seals failing due to your turbo oil drain angle. Point it as much downward as possible so that the oil has a place to evacuate after it is done lubricating the journal bearing.

    The work is interesting. More studies would have been necessary to achieve something consistent. By instance a turbo always needs a vertical oil feed from top to bottom to avoid oil consumption (smoke and possible turbocharger destruction). Also it doesn't reach its functional rotation speed. Good try and best of luck for the next project.

    How much of a increase in jetting did you need? Did you add a bigger carb or is that the stock one? What's with all the smoke??

    • @finlaymcdiarmid5832
      @finlaymcdiarmid5832 Год назад

      Well because you need to decrease compression ratio anyway probably not a huge jump. Probably 5%-10% bigger jet.

    You’re getting just over 0 bar of boost. I’m going to be generous and give you 0.3 Bar, so around 4 and a bit PSI of boost pressure. You’d get more from ram air induction. Did you increase the size of the jet in the carb to account for the extra oxogen ?. Personally you’d be better using a bottle of compressed air or oxogen instead of a turbo on a 125 CC bike. That’s what I would do and use a regulator so you can turn up the boost. If you use compressed oxogen it would not need be to under pressure since the goal of compressors is to force more oxogen in the engine but with pure oxogen gas it could just be a trickle of gas since it’s 100 % oxogen or instead use nitrous oxide. Either one will do what that turbo can’t.

    Your turbo core is 90deg out. Oil drain needs to be at the bottom, which is why you have smoke. Rotate turbo core!

    Kezdetnek nagyon jó. Mivel szinte csoda, hogy beindult.
    De ezek után apró modosításokkal lehetne még rajta elég sokat fejleszteni.
    Pl.
    Turbo helyett elektromos kompresszor, Üzemanyag / Levegő keverési arány, Rendesen kapjon hűtést, stb.

    need a plenum so it can have stable boost, with that short and small volume intake turbo is hitting surge when making boost due to boost spike

    Big mistake with exhaust. The exhaust need bubbles to work the engine good with the best power. The power of 2strokes engines coming the 70% from the exhaust system. Make a good exhaust system and you will take more power. And something more, make boyesen reeds valve. This engine can reach to 20 and maybe more hp. Good Work!!!
