Season 3 picks up with Elena and Lila, both now grown women, during the great open sea of the 1970s. Lila took her young son and left her husband and a comfortable life to work as a factory worker in the toughest of conditions, while Elena left the neighborhood to study in Pisa, and is now an author of a successful novel that has paved the way to an affluent and cultivated world. They now navigate a scenario of hopes and uncertainties, still united by their strong and ambivalent bond.

This is up there as one of the best series of all time for me. Absolutely incredible. Deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence as sopranos, the wire etc.

ABSOLUTELY! It affected me more on a personal level as a woman! It portrays real life but real friendships between women that truly love each other but at the same time it is very complicated! How boys, school, family etc..affects the BFF friendship!
Hopefully this kind of friendship thats this special of a connection and bond will be for a lifetime..even if there are some breaks inbetween..the hope is their friendship will last their lifetimes!

Well needed as viewers for this wonderful phenomenonanol series. I am Napolitan 1st generation in the USA. LENU reminds me of myself at her age and younger. I get tears in my eyes because of the heritage most of us share of culture and family music dialect all of it. The girls are fantastic actresses and the full cast amazing. BRAVO!!!!! This series will end up being one of the best of the best for many future years. 👏

One of the best series I’ve ever watched
I mean this seriously. I am 61 years old. Have obviously watched many dramas and movies in my time. I have never, ever, witnessed an acting performance (if you can even call it acting given the realism involved) to match that as given by Gaia Girace. Truly astonishing in every way. To emphasise my point I would say every single character/actor is brilliant, far, far better than anything the US or Uk has ever produced. there is simply, no weak link in this series. But Gaia is in a league of her own. If I was able to be in a position of giving out awards, I would quite simply give her the award for best acting performance of all time...
Gaia was great her dramatic scenes are so touching... Less her love scenes but she was so young and I think she and Serpico have no chemistry at all.
It’s been a well presented in film and true to the books.

I can't even describe how much I love the show the music the minute I hear that music I'm taken to another world it fits so perfectly with the show. The relationship between the two women are sometimes so frustrating because deep down there's something that they're so much alike but on the surface they are different and it reminds me so much of my teenage years with my friends. Best ever. I enjoy it so much. Never know what to expect.
This show is truly one of the best dramas ever made. The story, the setting, the performances... This crew has much to be proud of. Bravo.

I absolutely love both these beautiful young women! I am so deep into their stories and watch an episode as many times as it comes on practically! They are very talented and I love to watch a best friends relationship between 2 females..the highs and lows..I think other girls/women love the mystery & similarity comparing it to either their own female friendships or wishing they had a friendship like there's! The other characters are talented as well and the director hit it spot on! I will miss the girls on the 4th very enticipated season..but I have to see what happens to the characters! I will visit Elena & Lila watching the series previously recorded on cd's!

Problema agora é esperar mais um ano pra ver a season finale 🥺

I just finished the first book. I’m thinking if I should just read the rest of the series before watching the show. It’s interesting that I haven’t seen the show but I read the first book, I have listened to the soundtracks many times because I’m a big fan of Max Richter.

Bring back the original director, seasons one and two were much better. What’s the Italian equivalent of the expression “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” ?
In Italian it is said: "A team that wins does not change". Anyway, I think the first two episodes of the third season live up to the other two seasons. I put it this way: the interpretation of the two young actresses saved everything. For the rest, I agree with you.
@@lanottedelleuropa6769 I agree, the opening seemed promising with the focus on class politics and the turbulent relationship between Elena and Lila, after that I felt it lost momentum and became another drama about a guy, failing the Bechdel test.
@@davidcampbell4647Yes, too much attention has been given to some aspects and less to others that are also present in the third book of the quadrilogy. And then some issues have just been outlined. For example: the climate of (almost) civil war in Italy. The scenes of when the family goes for a picnic or when they walk around Florence as if they were tourists, in restaurants, museums or shops ... in those days it was impossible to walk without meeting at least once in some street corner policemen with bulletproof vests or worse.
