Third time's the charm, right? =P
I checked and checked and triple-checked to make sure I was learning the right key-change this time, even went and double-checked some of the synthesia tutorials here on youtube. Goodness knows I just want to move on, this song is driving me nuts XD
Also, I have learned that I'm not very fond of playing in B Major in certain circumstances, this song being one of them. XP
I've been thinking that I might set the other two uploads of this song to private, what do you all think of that idea? I'd appreciate a little feedback on this mainly because I'm thinking of doing a little bit of a purge in terms of setting all my lower-quality renditions to "unlisted" or "private" so that they don't keep clogging up my channel. Do you guys still view them? Or is it just wasted space? Please let me know! =)
Also, I actually have started learning Celestia's Ballad at this point. At the moment I'm right up to the beginning of the transformation sequence right after Celestia finishes singing. It's looking to be quite nifty if I do say so myself. ^_^
News time!
As many of you might already know I'm performing at EQLA in less than a month. That being said I'm kinda going to be hunkering down and practicing my brains out up until the convention. I have a LOT of time to fill, so I've got to have on the order of ~25-30 songs and variations of songs committed to memory by the time that hits. So I apologize if I'm a bit slow on the creation of the tutorials for these two pieces, it might take a little while to find the time.
Also, my thoughts go out to all the people in Boston effected by the bombings. Wishing you all safe goings-on in the time yet to come.

I come here from time to time. I don't know exactly how long it has been since I discovered this cover. Probably two years. I just wanted to thank you for that. It takes my sadness off and I just feel good. Your game is great. Ironically, in the nearly 10 years of the franchise, this song still remains my favorite

Try viewing the left hand as the framework where-in the right hand is allowed to dance. It's primarily there to keep the beat.
Most times my right hand ends up on auto-pilot while I focus on making the left hand work. However, if my right is doing something more strenuous like octaves then I'm almost always doing the opposite. But one hand or another is pretty much constantly on auto-pilot for me when I play.
You could always invest in a practice keyboard so that you can use headphones.

Yup, for a while I had been pondering over my adaptation of Rarity's verse as well.
I can tell you with absolute certainty that I have taken measures to make sure my tutorial portrays this verse correctly. I can also say that this slight alteration will not be pushing back it's release! =)
Unfortunately this means that *cringes* this cover is not entirely correct as well, but I'll probably leave this up and cover that updated version if I'm able to somehow make this a "Feels Collection" song =P
Until a tutorial is made, I'll learn from this by ear; I feel it's possible. Really, awesome job man. :D

Every now and then I go back and listen to a few videos I have done on my channel and long for the same drive I once had. After 3 years of school and having lost my recording software at the beginning of those 3 years the fandom kept going while I couldn't continue contributing. One day I'm sure I'll find a new outlet for my musical side, and maybe then the forges will be rekindled for my channel. For now though, It lays silent. It continues making impacts on people not unlike yourself, and that continues to make me happy. If I inspired just one person to want to play music from the 100+ videos I made, then to me my channel has been a success so far.

What I do is teach myself to such a degree that I feel confident I can actually teach someone how to play it. Creating tutorials like I do also helps solidify songs in my head because I have to know the songs in and out. The majority of MLP songs I learn these days I learn by ear, not from preexisting sheets, so I can make them as complicated or simple as I please.
Also, meta info for recording covers: Have a nice keyboard w/ direct audio feed to comp, have video and audio editing software =P

That's kinda my guess too, and if it is then I'm completely comfortable in saying that I am indeed learning "Helping Twilight Win the Crown" (see Project Progress Meter for details). I'm actually pretty much done learning it at this point, just waiting to get caught up on tutorials before I record it =P
Plus waiting gives me that nice little grace window of "Should I keep tweaking the song or am I happy with it?", so I'm kinda happy I'm waiting a little and practicing it more =)

Try exerting the smallest amount of effort to hit the keys you need to hit. Unless you are trying to make something over-dramatic during a performance there's no real reason to over-exaggerate your keystrokes.
Playing both hands together slowly and then speeding it up as you play it more is definitely a way to acquire the competency to play both hands simultaneously. It is, sorry to say, one of those things that requires a good deal of practice. But the more you practice the easier it should get

I'm only using "Piano Back". It's a few clicks below all the other main piano voices.
