BEWARE DO NOT Come To Dumaguete, Philippines If This Applies To You

- I have always had these thoughts while traveling to heavy expat toured areas. DISCLAIMER- this is not a judgment video this is just my thoughts on those who are thinking about coming to the Philippines for the wrong reasons. FYI some of these concepts apply to myself as well and I do ask my self some of the same questions I talk about in this video. Regardless, the Philippines is a phenomenal place for expats to retire and should be at the top of anyones list who is interested in Asia. Ridiculous beaches, affordable prices and relax, friendly locals brings in the masses no doubt. Let me know your thoughts on this subject. Cheers

Great video man, I agree it’s not for everyone. For me, the Philippines can be challenging as an introvert because it’s a culture where people are friendly and social and that’s not what I’m accustomed to coming from the US especially where people are usually only nice if they’re trying to sell you something. That being said, there’s a lot for me to learn from the Filipino people. Hope we can meet up if I make it over there while you’re over there.
Yeah I hear you on the introvert part. Often times I just want to keep to myself but the fact that I am a foreigner here a lot of times the loclas look at you and have long eye contact haha. It's just what they do
Many gold diggers here in America. I mean white women going with rich black men. I have seen a lot especially if their NBA players, tv stars or movie stars.
The number one reason I enjoy the Philippines is the people they are just wonderful to be around.
Good words, Aaron. Thank you.
thanks for tuning in!
Nothing better than driving a motorbike over the mountains in the philippines ❤❤❤
oh yeah it is gorgeous
Hey Aaron, nice spot you picked. Looks like you are having a great time there, I agree people really miss out if they do not venture into the provinces.
Oh I know it is so nice and the air is so fresh
excellent video. It hits me hard, as I am divorced, and currently ending a 10-year relationship. I have lived in the Philippines while in the Air Force at Clark (1986-1990). I did get the chance to travel a bit, not just the PH but other Asian countries. I loved my time there and always hoped to get back. Now as I approach my retirement years coming up, I'm just sick of the fast paced culture, politics, and western feminism. Guys that I knew back thqgenm that married Filipinas, are still married to them ov er 30+ years later, and very happy. I missed the boat I guess. Once my dog passes away in the next year or two, I will start my va ton trips overseas, to possibly find why forever home. One thing about the Philippines that I will always remember and carry with me, is the friendly and loving people there. I just don't see that here in the USA anymore. b best wishes to you Aaron and safe travels.
Sorry to hear about some of your situations and thanks for reaching out! I know there is a real since of connection here that is becoming more scarce in America. Good luck to you!
Enjoy aaron ive been watching your vlog nowadays explore philippine there are lots of beautiful natures islands to explore for others that has to be discoverd
Yes I agree thanks for the support
Great honest advice. Much appreciated
Yeah Johnny thanks for tuning in and saying hello!
Good insight, in order to be successful and thrive in the PI one really has to embrace the people and culture, and overlook the many obstacles. I spent 3 months there as a young Marine at Subic Bay Naval Station in 1988......and loved every minute of my time there. I think when you get older your perspective will change on many things. I'm a Sigma male so I can thrive anywhere......we must broaden our horizons and not go to the Philippines just for the women and party life. I will be returning this year.
I am sure it was a wild time back then! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
Really good video ! I have been in the Philippines for almost 4 months now and I have to say it’s a beautiful and amazing place but it’s not for everybody, Coming from the US, the culture is different The food is different and the driving is absolutely crazy ! And the dating is very different, You have to deal with cultural differences and even language differences. I know most Filipinos speak some English, but since it’s not their first language, there is a lot of misunderstanding., But you’re right you really need to be here six months before you can decide if it’s what you want to live.
I agree it can be a big adjustment and sometimes it takes getting over that cloud nine period to realize what you want
I met my partner February last year, i went to dumaguete mid-march, lovely place, lovely people, im from south west london btw.
Yeah very nice I love dumaguete. I was in London in 2014. Great city. It was very expensive at that time because the pound was so strong
You omitted one core element foreigners have a massive lust for which is affordability/cost of living that is widely available in PI for those visiting or staying. This goes hand in hand with the other reasons you noted, artificial or otherwise
Oh yeah that is for sure I always talk about it in my other videos
New Follower here. I married a girl from the same Island, Hinoba-an area. She is Perfect in every way. and the great thing is she is Not Infected with Toxic Americanism Victim & WokeNut Ideology. Big Big Bonus. lol
Oh wow very nice well I hope everything works out for you! Thanks for checking in
@@aaronaround So far so good.
(Why guys head to PI) Alone "Loneliness" But Also for Retiring, on Soc Sec (fixed incomes) and Incr, Not Able to afford (US) Retirement d/t Incr "Insane Rents / Housing prices" now.. Add (retiring) Veterans who've Been there (like me) .. A lot of us were "explorers" and haven't forgot / still have it in us .. Plus, so many RUclips (PI) Travel Vids (the visibility) ..
Yes that is a fact!
If you go there don't have high expections. Just be yourself you will be much happier wherever you end up.
Yeah that is for sure great insight!
How do you make a living?
well before I would save up money for a years worth
Never judge the Quality of your Content by the # of clicks .. The Best Videos get the fewest clicks ..
haha yeah that is what I am saying :0
I don’t want a girlfriend or a wife. Will the women harass me all the time? I like being alone.
haha no you will be ok
Their 4500 expats that live in Dumagete and 190,000 plus Filipino people so their not alot of expats in Dumagete they make up 3% of Dumagete. Watch old dog Paul video on this
Yeah I hear you well if those numbers are accurate that is a lot to me in not a very big area
That seems low for permanent expats but you do a disservice not to mention the thousands of tourists passing through Dumaguete every day for diving and doing what tourists do.
Google it like old dog did
And let’s not forget Siargao, Metro Manila where a lot of expats lives.
You’re making this vlog just to make profit. You can’t tell people what to do with their lives, let them find out for themselves. You’re discouraging them not to come maybe because you had bad experience with women. Just the way to talk it’s annoying,
I'll tell you a secret 90% of them here are also doing it for profit.. Food for thought video
I’m aware of that, Filipinos do subscribes, insane, you’re doing the same thing that’s why you’re there.
Rambling and othing about the click bait title!
I am not sure what is clickbait about it... it is just a warning and I stated it clearly... no? :0
True, all of the above. And. There are other reasons to live in the Phils, but luckily you and almost every RUclipsr have not discovered it. When you know, you know.
yeah someday
You're definitely a atypical foreigner in Dramaguete. Almost all are in their 70s on a $1500 income.
Yeah I hear you
Too late......I'm already coming 😆
Nice when are you arriving!?
Great video ! I found a sense of peace and tranquility in the Philippines 🇵🇭! Just tired of the BS in the USA . Philippines 🇵🇭 is not perfect by any means but it’s perfect for me ! Thx 🙏
yes sir thanks for stopping by! Yes a lot of the countries all have their pros and cons
Try visiting ILOILO CITY, it's a big amazing surprise to people. ILOILO is the cleanest, most beautiful, walkable, livable city in the Philippines. ILOILO is the Philippines' Best Kept Secret.
It is a hidden gem. I do like it a lot
True peace only comes from Jesus Christ ! Amen 😊
yes yes
food for thought but im still moving to the Philippines in early 2025.
No changing my plans after 2 years now.
Nice! Congrats I hope you enjoy. You will find out if it is right for you or not. hope it works out 👍
Dude, get on track. You're rambling. Title didn't match anything close to what you talked about.
Watch it again I think you missed some details :0
Agree, he’s blabbing too much.
Agree. Get to the point and be economical with your words.
Lets get one thing strait, you made the video to make money. I would say #1 reason to stretch your dollar. your dollar stretches, your ability to get women stretches.
Well I didn't make it to look at myself for an hour editing it haha... I think money makes the world go round. Thanks for tuning in
Aaron, too funny. Come to the Philippines to become a stepdad after meeting a Filipina. Great video.
thanks for the tuning in haha
I have no plans of being a stepdad nor feed her family.
@@eddieBoxer I first arrive in the Philippines in February 1977. I know all BS from the Filipinas. That's why I married a beautiful and wonderful Japanese lady.
A lot of guys stick to and Chase an "external script only" while "Never" Looking under their own hood ..
Great background I'm going Saipan northern rent place there its 5 hours from Philippines then fly in to dumaguette Saipan is still USA plus I'm not old enough for social security so got find way make money there which we know is hard to do what's a single man budget there Saipan cheap but not as cheap as phillopines but cheaper than mainland USA
Yeah I hear you well good luck on your travels I am sure you will find a way!
You're right, this vlog reminded me of a song called Chrysalis by the group,
Empire Of The Sun.
We are all definitely connected to this Earth.
Anyway, my time here has been a positive and long needed retreat, I don't miss living in the west✌🏾
Yeah great well glad you are enjoying!
Write your thoughts on paper organize a script, then do your vlog brother.
.
Yeah I hear you haha... not my style but I think it often times makes the videos better
You have alot of energy, and made alot of great points. So ,Im a new sub of yours and this was my first video of yours that I have come across .I was married ,in Manila in 2007 and have been watching volggers for a long time anyway good luck.
As an expat who was divorced 3 times, I'm a white old geezer I plan on marrying my Filipina girlfriend who is 24 years old, I'll be getting married in June 2024, met her only 2 months, I'm gonna build a nice house and be happy.
Tip: people love seeing "How much" (Specific Prices of things) .. Walking around different Wet Markets, Super Markets & Menu's, etc .. (Good for clicks) .. Some guy's do it, but don't do a good (clear concise) job at it or don't know "staples & shopping" .. You putting out meaningful quality content, but "give them what they want (to a point), so you can give them what you want ..
Ok I hear you I appreciate the feed back
6 months there and 2 weeks home and you can have your travel insurance for 1050 usd price of the ticket and 45 USD for 6 months of 50000 emergency medical for that price is reasonable 👍💯 ive been in Vietnam 14 months out of the last 2 years 👍
Yeah I think 6 months here is good!
USA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

# 1 Reason can be different for everyone ! -- I can see perhaps a majority may be 'lonely' - but that doesn't mean all are ?!? -- I myself am looking for a low cost of living as # 1 for my small SS check - so as to live comfortable ! = Top priority !!! -- Second is warm weather - again to be comfortable. -- After that - English speaking friendly people are required also for comfort with everyday living. -- Are you seeing a trend here ? > "comfort" -- being a priority ? 🤔
Hey I hear you I know those are top priorities ... does dating not make the list? haha
Modernity increased life expectancy for those who have access to it but it also lessened the overall quality of life by disconnecting us from the world and each other.
Some valid points there rusty I agree
You do offer some sage advice which I have done myself already - get out and travel! I've been to the Philippines 3 times now (mostly spent in the big cities), but I have a 4th visit planned later this year and the goal is to explore some provinces. The Philippines is a beautiful and intriguing country with very friendly and welcoming people, but inefficiencies, snails pace bureaucracies, bad traffic, and long queues will test your patience. You have to adapt to go with the flow and take things as they come. Best advice I can give for the retired demographic: if you got a lot of health issues to manage, plan on staying in Manila where the good hospitals/doctors are. This isn't a place to live if you have various health issues to manage on a regular basis.
Yes you do need to be patient in this country that is for sure! Very patient! I do agree with you on the medical as well!
Man your videos are Great Awesome! More of this! More Power! Happiness is a choice! Philippines has awesome natural and happy Human Resources and sunny beaches with more than 7k thousand islands k!
Yes this is a fact! Thank you for tuning in!
Great video, honestly spoken. Not on my way to the Philippines, rather, elsewhere in Asia, that I know very very well. Best Wishes Always.
Hey Dutch I appreciate that. Thanks for tuning in!
Aaron have you actually stepped into the beach waters around Dumaguete yet?
Have I? I basically lived in the water there
I've been married, kids all grown up, separated and headed for divorce and I'm 61. I am not looking to be married again but I am looking for a place where the cost of living isn't as expensive as the USA. I was in the Navy, I've been to the Philippines before. I have other choices, not stuck on just the Philippines.
Yeah great Troy it sounds like you have a lot to look forward too sir. What other countries are on your radar?
@@aaronaround Ventral and South Americaan countries

Another great video Aaron.
Appreciate that!
Have a visit here in baguio city, sir.
Not yet but I would like to
this DORK is TRICKY...the title says Dumaguete what he said has nothing to do with Dumaguete....l think he tries to catch viewers 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
haha watch it again I think you misses some details :0
Super cool ❤hi Aaron enjoy your time take care
Yes thank you!
Great advice ..
Thanks for watching!
Yes there are many countries in Asia, I have been to most of them, I lived in China for 7 years, I loved it there and have been back many times, Twice this year , The language barrier isn't that difficult, visa extension ,opening a bank account, renting a apartment, all very easy to do , The infrastructure is amazing , traveling is even easy, The women are beautiful its more expensive then the Philippines , also its not a place for old foreigners on a pension to retire,
I have yet to go to China. I heard it is a beast! I would like to visit! I could imagine it is not a good place to retire haha
