My grandfather flew in WWII with the National Guard air division in the 307th group. Flew mainly P51 Mustangs, then after the war did commercial flying for American. Awesome stories from his service, and leaves me somewhat in awe
I'm with Billy on this. I came out of the theater after seeing Top Gun feeling so happy that the movie had been made and that I had gotten the chance to see it.

Pretty sure the reason why they have him as a guest is simply because the new Top Gun movie, which they are a huge fan of, gave them the idea, and they constantly need/want new guests, it's about as simple as that. (Pretty sure LotR never was a topic and that the guest is not a "fan" or doesn't think about it at all.)

Billy! If you get a chance to do any local tourism while you're in Atlantic Canada you should take a drive to St. Martin's, New Brunswick. It's a beautiful picturesque fishing town that has some of the world's best fish and chips, lobster rolls as well as seafood chowder. Also while you're in Nova Scotia you should grab some Dulse for Billy and Dom eat the world. It's usually sold at gas stations and convenience stores. It's a type of seaweed that is dried in the sun and has a salty chewy taste and is quite popular locally.
Great podcast! So fascinating to learn all this stuff! Really enjoyed your guest-as usual! Would love to see if you can get more composers on as I’m a big music fan. Howard Shore would obviously be ideal but I’d also love to see Joe Hisaishi who composes for a lot of Studio Ghibli films.

You guys need to check out Portland Maine. The amount of little mom & pop lobster 🦞 roll shacks there is insane. The lobster is actually much less expensive there as well cause the city sits a on a huge port of lobsterman. Most people think Maine is the boonies but that shoreline city has has some amazing art culture. Definitely a spot worth visiting. The downtown Portland Maine scene is really cool. Alright Billy, I have to call you out on your exposition complaint. Yes, everyone in the room knew what the expositor was saying. HOWEVER, the expositor also knew that he needs to perpetually remind Maverick to not push this issue, at risk of stuff going impressively sideways. It was not exposition alone, it was a character beat of, "I know you do reckless stuff, please don't do that right now'
Lobster salad (in the rolls) can be as simple as mayo, lobster, maybe celery seed. Pity you're not close to Churchill, Bulls, there's a gut there called the Raccoon Whisperer (channel here on YT), who feed 8-20 raccoons every night, honoring his dying wife's request. He's a retired RCMP, a musician, and a bit of a film buff
To correct Dom a bit. Russia always had navy base in Sevastopol and it was an official contract, arranged and agreed with Ukrainian government. Russia paid money to Ukraine to have it there. So seeing submarine here and there would be the same as seeing American jets flying over your head in Okinawa.

I think that's quite unfair. They said from the start this isn't a lotr podcast but they understand a lot of people will know them from that. If you want lotr content there is plenty out there. I'm here for these guys and their positivity and enthusiasm for all the things they chat about. Looking back, one of their highest views was the chat with Sam Reigel, which had nothing to do with lotr directly.
