Assuming it does/did have some sort of spirit attached to it, it feeds of the “life force” of those around it, keeping it looking young. My idea with the doll that aged: Maybe somebody got in some way cursed. And when the doll is loved it is young and beautiful. When the doll is forgotten, it will age in some way. So who ever was cursed for doing who knows what they were turned into a doll. I would want that doll to be honest. Because I once used to live in a family in another... Place... I guess you could call it. I was taken to something that got me mixed up in another world again. And trust me. Parallel universes and worlds exist. My really family needs more believers cause we are slowly dying off. And that will most likely be when (like scientists say) the sun explains over the earth. I would wish to say more. But that is what my worlds laws say.

Personally, I think Okiku's hair grew because, since she was played with so much and Okiku felt loved, Okiku ended up hanging on to the spirit of the little girl when she passed away due to the flu so she could still feel like she was being played with..?
The doll was put in the attic I assume the doll was exposed to moist air causing it to slowly deteriorate give the illusion of aging but I'm not quite sure I'm not an expert
That's a good theory. That would make sense, but it was wrinkly. Dolls don't tend to go wrinkly when old or exposed to moist air for so long. They normally turn yellow or distorted colours after longer periods of time. But yeah it could just be that and the material was different. ^-^

What if the doll who's hair grows is just a prank like the one from the twits. If you haven't read the book, here is the prank I'm talking about: Mr.Twit adds a layer of walking stick material (idk what its called lol) each night onto Mrs.Twit's walking stick to make her think she is getting smaller.
I think that maybe someone was sneaking into the place the doll was and adding hair extensions to the doll's hair.

But if she died in 1918 and when she died thats when the dolls hair started growing and still growing to this day its not possible for a person from most likely a hundred years ago the would still be putting extensions on the doll and like jessie said the doll was brung to the priest after the hair started growing so its not possible for a human 100 years old or more to sneak into a museum every night so thats not a possible theory
