I would like to point out a few things. 1) You shouldn't have used tiger as a comparison in the damage section for a couple of reasons. He was active during the very early days which did not have the items or equips that later versions of Pre-big bang would have. He was active BEFORE 4th job was introduced which really skews things a lot. You should have used a clip of someone from 08-09 vs big bang. End game damage pre-bb to end game damage post-bb would have illustrated the difference much better. 2) They introduced two separate experience curves which reduced the amount of exp required to level up. By I wanna say very late 2008 ~ 2010 they started slowly introducing easy ways to get experience at lower levels. Closer to 2009 ~ 2010 you were getting spoon fed exp which made getting to 3rd job a breeze. pre-big bang became less hardcore as time went on. Also the aforementioned exp curves mainly focused on everything before 4th job really. 120+ didn't feel the effect as much. 3) With your leveling comparison at the end, all of 2) applies here. v62 if that is the version your playing did not have the 2 exp curves. After mid 2009 you're leveling would have been much quicker than what was presented here.. What I personally think about the subject. Big Bang is to maplestory what Cataclysm is to WoW or what Evolution of Combat is to runescape. It was not a good addition to the game. I played maple from 2006 to big bangs release. Even after release I tried to give Big Bang a chance but the game felt far too gutted for me to continue leading to me quitting 3 months in. The removal of the old accuracy system was a mistake. All the classes in part due to losing the accuracy system and mostly because of multiple class reworks lost what made them unique or better suited to fit certain roles. All the classes in current feel the same. All have personal attack buffs, increase HP passives, multiple self supporting buffs, flash jump, amazing dps skills, map clearing skills and it goes on and on. What is even the point of playing the new classes when you know they are the same shit that was just release with a different aesthetic? Pointless. I also don't like how the game went from a game that forced you to worked together with others (which lead to friendships and bonds being made) to solo journey the game. You don't need anyone but yourself to get anywhere which kills the social aspect of this game. Lastly while you might view the leveling in current as a good thing I see it as a huge detriment. Leveling that fast is very unhealthy for a game like this. With slower leveling it gives players time to learn the nuances of the game, prepare themselves for end game and keeps the market in check for end game equips. I do believe that pre-bb was very close to striking a good balance between quicker leveling without making it too fast, BB was far too overboard. Lastly, while I will not attribute the pay2win being created in post bb (since potential was created and introduced pre-bb) post bb exacerbated the problem with the introduction of party play areas like LHC. On paper it's a wonderful idea but the execution was awful. The monsters had far too much HP which led to some people receiving far less exp than others. When people with fully potential'd gear came in while the rest of the party had average damage range, they ultimately began to suck up most of the exp given. That to me illustrated that future content was going to be created and balanced around the existence of this gear. Potential was a mistake and if it was only going to become more relevant as time went on I was unwilling to entertain that. Probably one of the biggest things that pushed me out. Now I'll make this clear I prefer pre-bb to post-bb. I don't say this out of nostalgia as I understand how deeply flawed pre-bb is. However pre-bb contains the things I like about maplestory and I consider it to be more engaging and more dynamic. At this point pre-bb and post-bb are entirely separate games with a maple skin. For a few years I would come back to current maple because I missed maplestory. I'd play for a day or two and quit since I couldn't overlook how broken post-bb is. I'm happy I've found a place like Mapleroyals that provides what I'm looking for and I believe it strikes a good balance between quicker leveling without making it too fast at 4x exp rate. Anyway that's my 2 cents.
pre-bb seems cool, but the amount of time it takes to level is just not realistic. nobody wants to do that shit, leveling insanely slowly with boring ass skills like a slash or throw 2 stars at a time. fuck that... EOC for runescape turned the game into a weird fucking wow clone. Maplestory still plays the same, use skills to kill monsters and train same skills.
I remember this vividly. I played once on a lv. 74 I/L Mage, and it was hitting just well under 1000 most of the time; admittedly, it wasn't very well equipped, but I'm getting over 10 times that now. This was in '06. Also, achieving the damage cap of 99999 was a great feat, and is now fairly commonplace.
I had a level 175 NL, level 162 I/LMage, 134 Bowmaster, 125 Bishop, and dozens of level 60-90 characters, and that was all back in 2006 (started playing in 01). The biggest problem back then was hacking, it was rampant, and it was hard to find a channel without some one vac'ing all the monsters to a single spot and killing them. That ruined the game for a lot of us and drove many players away. Most of my friends, and myself, all got hacked at some point, and back then there were ways people could hack you without ever needing your info, your login, your email, or your pin. After they introduced the NX trade system it got ridiculous, with Nexon needing to do several multi-day rollbacks from exploits that had gotten out of hand. To be honest, owning multiple computers and running a bishop mule was the best way to level, hanging on a rope and maintaining bless and holy symbol, and giving yourself the occasional mystic door to go re-pot. It was pretty much necessary, and if you could afford NX you could pair that with a 2x exp coupon to level pretty quickly. Eventually you switched over to bossing. And while I think the different classes are too similar now, they were still similar back then. For example, genesis, blizzard and meteor were basically the same attack just different elements, the same with elquines, ifrit and bahamut. Now even warriors have some kind of flash jump move, which does in some way undermine the perks of making a specific class. Thief mobility was a major factor in making a NL, haste and flash jump? Yes please. Now there's both too much diversity, and too much similarity. For example, there's almost 50 variations of class and job, but why do we need both a night walker and a night lord? They're basically the same thing, except they tried to fixed a lot of the problems with Night Lord with Night Walker. Why not just fix NL? Why do we need multiple classes that are essentially the same gameplay? I'm thinking to give Maple another try, but the game was pretty broken after potentials were introduced, if you could afford the NX to recube until you got a +6% stat still on all your equips, you were basically godly, and that seemed like the moment it went from pay to win faster, to just pay to win.
Maple nowadays is very open to f2p. Knowing the game was getting too expensive, they have made something called Reboot servers. It's a world, just like any other, but you can't trade with other players. That makes it a grind-only server, where you have to grind all your gear and everyone would be in the same position. The difference is, they have some stuff in the cash shop that can be bought for Mesos. Cubes for example. And an exclusive NPC that has a shop of cash shop items and other useful items that can be also bought with Mesos. Reboot is purely based in meso, no NX needed to get your gear and progress in the game. Nothing will block you from going further. I don't have any complains about it, to be honest. Whenever you hear complains, is from someone that is already in the endgame and is just greedy, wanting something called "vac-pet" which are special pets bought with NX. They're not needed but are more efficient in looting stuff than regular pets, and they want it for free. Just like that. It's the only thing I see someone complaining about Reboot. Silly, right? lol. But it means the server is good.
I'm going to use in-game slimes and potato chips as a point of analysis today. I was first introduced to ms when I was 9 by my older brother and it took me maybe 2 years to get to level 50 because I spent so much time goofing around and exploring. I am now 24 and I look at the game with a sociological business lens. When we were younger, novel teriyaki, curry, Japanese, Korean, etc potato chips were special and savored because they were hard to get if you didn't travel. Just like chips, blue, red, orange, purple slimes were also hard to find because leveling was so difficult. So when you saw them or any other infamous or hard to find stuff, it felt different. However, our overall society has changed towards demanding instant gratification. Almost every global flavor of lays chips could be found at your local supermarket and even Walmart. So, Nexon also went with that and felt the need to make it more accessible, marketable, and 'fulfilling'. Moment of reflection could be to ask ourselves how often we choose to buy those novel flavors of chips, classic flavors, or no chips at all. If we choose none at all, it could be an indicator of us no longer being in the market range or us growing out of the market range. If we choose classic flavors, it can indicate that we're becoming retro-chasers and that these new flavors have become too overwhelming for us to choose from. We want the old flavors not because they taste good but because the new flavors are too complicated. Thus, looking from a marketing perspective, there is also a flaw with having too much accessibility because it can also encumber marketability. the product loses its novelty and it ends up coming down to the product's purpose. For Maplestory, the purpose for a lot of the youth in our times was an addiction. Imported foods and cigarettes are only interesting for the first few times you try them. After that, you just want to stick with what YOU subjectively think tastes good which is what you're most familiar with. I could be wrong but I'm open to discussion.
this is a very good comment. I can't say you're wrong, sounds like you're right. I do feel familiar with maple, that's why most games do not entertain me as much. I keep thinking about maple's gameplay and how it has a ton of character customization, classes, etc. so yea, I get back playing it from time to time. Feels like a drug. Honestly, the modern maple we got today is even more addicting than before. Because now you have "events", they are your free pass to get a powerful character. Everything you need to upgrade your character and do more damage are in events, and they release like 2 or 3 running simultaneously. When one is over, they start another event right after, and they demand a lot of time. 2 hours if you goof around much. And you want to push it further, not only doing events and daily missions but also "actual grind", and that's where the game gets messed up. You feel like doing a chore, and after 2 hours, when you're done, now you can get to the fun part. And it pushes 2 hours of playing into 5 hours, 6 hours... It messes up your whole day, letting no free time to spend in productivity activies. PRE-BB didn't have worries about what to do. It was clear what you had to do, and your routine would be pretty much the same. With actual freedom to explore and do other things if you feel like it, and deciding to stop at any point. Played for 40 minutes? No biggie, come back tomorrow and keep going where you stopped. But today's maple is all about finishing up events, dailies, then grind until yout character deals X damage, enough to kill the next boss on the list. It takes minimum of 1 and a half hours everyday. To be fair, the game is simpler because of Reboot servers, and you can get to the end game in a couple of months, but still can get addictive enough to mess your real life routine because events and daily missions turns the game into a job.
I can easily say that bigbang update was the best one and the bigbang experience system was so. now its even easier and stupid. I plvl my char in 2h to level 100
For people who want to play Pre Big Bang but not in the extremely-difficult-to-level- up-way, I recommend a private server called MapleRoyals. It's v62 and has x4 EXP, x4 Meso and x2 drops. It's still way harder to level up than it is now, but it's fast enough to be enjoyable (at least in my opinion)
4:46 funny how he "played since 2005 " or whatever and say golems are lvl40 when it takes a quick search to figure out they arent lvl 40...but hey...OG player right?
+ANALYSlS thing is, the community isnt that big anymore, and doing that will split the community immensly. Nexon just have to learn to stop fucking up instead of going back to how things were.
A really big thing that you didn't add in the monsters and damage part is that back then like 5% of skills were multi targeted with the exception of the aran (not sure if he was pre big bang). Most jobs couldn't than 1 mob at a time til job 3 which greatly slowed training.
Yeah but that experience and joy goes away with every game over time. As you get older your tastes begin to change. You gain new responsibilities and so on. It's normal.
White Supreme I started playing maple legends (v.62) and it feels like I’m playing all over again. It helps that the community is close knit with lots of people pqing.
been playing since 2006, quit about 4 years ago and resorted to v83 private servers. i really think you did a awesome job on this video, seems like a lot of effort was put into it. you have some really good points, but when it comes to prebigbang vs bigbang EXP the change is waaaay too much. i think that yes, its good that leveling doesn't take years and years, but it is a little overboard. i think maple should still make it a wow factor when you see a level 200 or even a level 150, when i see one its nothing. they should of made the exp probably half of what it is now. anyway that's my thought on it, thanks for the awesome video!
Got to be honest, I agree with a lot of what you said. I miss the pathway from Henesys to Kerning City. I have the most memory just walking from Henesys to Kerning forcing myself not to use the taxi. (The BGM was amazing and it was nostalgic)
ClassicMS dot org It's v.62 I'm trying to recruit as many people as possible, because right now you have to use smegas (which u can get by voting) to find people for KPQ.
I could not agree more. Except I wished that leveling was not so easy after Level 100-120 ish. I can easy gain 5 levels a day. On my PreBigBang guy. I almost could not level pass level 24 because of the Jr. Necki, no one could be them. I played from 2006-2008, 2010-2011. and now 2014
The changes made were necessary to keep the game fresh. Imagine being a new player after seeing a commercial for the latest content but you're stuck playing for a year before you can even get to 5 year old content. After so many years the game would be so boring had it remained the same. It's the same with WoW. Had Blizzard never "casualized" the early expansions it would take forever to get to the newer content. I've been playing Maple off and on since pretty well the beginning. People just get burnt out of playing the same game everyday. I have quit numerous times due to boredom but I still come back and enjoy the latest changes but because I've played the game for so many years I eventually just get bored again and quit.
Same. I just finished uninstalling it and now I'm getting into Fighting Games. Playing it casually, learning new moves, etc... Good stuff. Not a RPG grinding feast, but it has been more fun than maple right now to be honest. I laugh when I make mistakes, I smile when I can hit the opponent with an ultimate, it's cool and casual. And yea! About POST-BB, I think it was a good decision, they had to reshape the game for newer audiciences. Maplestory is still no.1 in Korea, no one can say they haven't made the right choice. Marketing-wise? Getting more money? It's a company, and for a company to keep on surviving, they did the right choice. For us players, at least to me it rly felt like improvement. Though ofc, the game is different now. More... Single player. But I like where it stands. I played both Regular servers and Reboot. Reboot is a dream server, it makes everything achieveable, 0 money spent, couple of months playing and boom, you're in endgame. Way different than pre-bb servers, having to 10% scroll stuff just to get like +3 str, then booming your hard earned black belt, facestompers with chaos scrolls, securing item slots with white scrolls... from intermediate player to endgame just to deal +1000 damage which didn't help much. HP-Wash... No thanks. I prefer Post-BB.
As someone who has had a 4th job in 2009, I totally know what you mean by "Devoting your life to the game". Hours upon hours I spent grinding. I even had 4x + HS and I was only getting about 30% / Hour at Skeles. I like Big Bang, it made the game a lot more reaching towards the newer crowd. Who the heck wants to spend two years grinding before they can get to bossing and fun? That's why I love it. Thank you very much for getting this video out. It's so easy to follow and explain, thank you.
I've been playing for a couple of weeks now, it's alright but nothing like 7 years ago lol. I do like that it's easier to level now though before it was painful.
mikeT1100 agreed haha. i was so confused with everything, especially all the new classes and their storylines. I didn't really like the leveling, it takes all satisfaction away when you reach level 100... Thing is they made it TOO easy, even completing a quest with only talking will reward you with exp worth a whole level...
I heard the grinding comes back around the mid 100s. In my opinion it just took too long back in the day to level, and the death penalty was too much; it was actually one of the reasons why I quit. Now I get to experience high leveled skills in a shorter amount of time, I'm in the 80s right now and I can feel it getting a progressively more challenging. But I'm a sucker for the old maps and community. There's not as many talkative people and nobody takes the boat to Orbis anymore =[.
mikeT1100 hmm haven't reached that point before I quit again, haha... Yess that's what I miss the most: Random chilling on an epic jumpspot, PQing all day long, messing up the tree in Happyville around Christmas. Just chatting in general, with all of your friends. :) it's good they've developed and focused more on leveling up, but for me as an old MS player, I lose track of everything (esp classes). And again, the community isn't that alive anymore.
That was such a great video. Oh my god. I actually sat down and watched it until the time hit 22:16 on the video. Well edited, and that was such an amazing commentary between Pre BB and BB. Well said, dude. :D
My issue with the game today is that it has absolutely no challenge to it All of the classes except the original adventurers are so fucking op they kill everything like 1 hit The second thing I hate is the story lines because maplestory was originally very immersive and about your story, but now its about some heroes story and they force you to do all the story quest I don't care about the character story I just want to play the game my way, Its your story after all (so they say on there homepage)
i had a level 70 dualblade...and although achievement back then its jst now pretty much useless and i feel like ive wasted so much time and i quit the game... anyone else did that?
No problem. :O Just a random tidbit. My favorite Hidden-Street was in the split path under Pig Beach. It was in one of the pits corners. (There were two pits) If you pressed up to the right of one of them (Pretty sure it was the one on the left) it'd send you to this looooooooong map that had several different monsters that was great for Warrior training.
i remember... it was soooooooooooooo long ago. i remember the very old training camp with that apple suit. i remember when it took FOREVER to level. the highest ive ever gotten was like lv 48 before i took a long break and came back after the big bang.
mages and resistance maple 101 are kinda on hold. i have to make a few video for hidden street. i'll make sure to get them out before they're released though
i remember how much it sucked back then, i started playing when the pirate cygnus knights had just come out, and it took a while just to get to 30, not to metion 3rd and 4th job, now i can get to 3rd job easily in just 1 day, much much faster then it was before big bang, and it made the game alot more fun cause u didnt feel like u were wasteing ur time
I completely agree with your Victoria Island point, and I also completely agree with your monster/damage point. As for the experience part, I think it should be easier than pre-Big Bang but harder than post-Unlimited.
Here's a story about may ice lighting mage. When I first played I got to level 20 and just could not get any higher so I traveled. After big bang I got to level 30 and thought it was a mirical till I rly found about big bang. I leveled to 120 after a while and was rly proud of myself for doing that. So after about a month after getting to 120 I got banned forever because I was hacked. Sad life
i don't know if im answering your questions correctly but i'll try. the damage was revamped for all classes. most i ever hit on my hermit was like 8k way back then at lvl 105. Most classes hit that way before that level and with more consecutive hits.
Imaginemos, que, desde 2013 al BB solo pasaron 3 años a lo mucho. Ahora, han pasado casi 10 años xd', es más que lo que fue desde que se creó el maple (2005) al PRE BB. (2010)
I remember somehow, I was able to get every explorer to 2nd job lv 30+ (Pirate, Magician, Thief, Bowman, Warrior | not every class like Gunslinger and Brawler) before cygnus knights came out. About 2 weeks before cygnus knights came out I quit GMS for 3 years. I just returned in January 2012, and have 8 4th jobs :P I like, just how you said, I can now experience all of the classes to the fullest :D Great video!
Hi! I just started the game 2 days ago and wanted to know if there was other changes between pre and after big bang? (Because I've read something about crafting somewhere?)
Also I remember training with my friend Kyle at zombie mushrooms in the dungeon. We both got to level 37 and such. I also remember stalking this Evan (he was my hero) named XQwertyyX
You can say what you will, in my mind everything about the old maplestory was perfect FOR ME. I can see why other individuals would quit the game very quickly though. Man I miss the Hell out of it. and what you said about levels- I feel the exact opposite. The fact that just lvl 70 was so hard made it so awesome to get there.
Also make the job adv. a little harder, not like finding the dark crystal and such but i mean make it harder to kill the boss and give him more defense.
Srsly please tell why, There is no way that pre big bang is worse I'm diamond 3 in league and I play it everyday but I would give up everything if pre big bang was released again
Missing Old maple :(. Community was better because people actually talked instead of sticking to their small groups and being social was one of the ways that took your mind off the grinding.
They freaking banned me and all of my friends somewhere after the BigBang for really no reason, and we were not able to recover our accounts through the shitty customer support. It was a common problem. But you know what? After they fucked up, I don't care as much anyway.
i think they should just take the exp gained and lvling as it is now leave it and make every monster WAY STRONGER. then it'll make it easy to lvl while making it a little harder it's the best thing they could do at this point. it would make the game great again and it would bring back party training that was the best part of old ms well one best part it was so fun back then now it's all CC or KS back then if a kser walked in and you were in a party with other's they'd walk out.
i have thought of something maple could do. Maybe make leveling slightly harder, like in the middle of BB and pre BB. Next they could lower the damage and make the maps slightly larger, next give thieves back their FJ. That was their thing and now its not so special. I dont know if everyone will agree with me but sort of un revamp some of the skills. Like i mean weaken it a little and give back some of the old ones. Give me some replys and tell me what you think :P
i would like to know where you got your private server from. I want to experience more from old school, i only got to play 3-4 month of it right after DB came out.
No, because monsters exp went to 50% of what they was giving, like the map with Black crow was giving like 3k and now 1,5k, but our damage went 1.5x to 3x of what it was before big bag also the exp, you need 10% to 50% of what you needded to level, at lv 200 you need 1,1b to level and before big bang 2,2b but at lv60 you need less than 250k and before you was needing over 1m so it's not only the exp tho(exp needed to level).
However i still enjoyed old maple exp rates. I think they should have compromised and made it about twice as fast, instead of like 8-9x as fast. There was a much larger feel of accomplishment.
I would like to point out a few things.
1) You shouldn't have used tiger as a comparison in the damage section for a couple of reasons.
Back then when i first saw a lv120 above mapler the first thing that come into my mind is "Show me your skil!!"
They need to make a exclusive world for pre Big Bang!
imagine nexon made a world only available to pre-big bangers. now that would be great
+ANALYSlS that world would be so empty because a lot of us quit over the years. I did come back for reboot though
+Tywi Liang same I came back to reboot
+ANALYSlS thing is, the community isnt that big anymore, and doing that will split the community immensly. Nexon just have to learn to stop fucking up instead of going back to how things were.
A really big thing that you didn't add in the monsters and damage part is that back then like 5% of skills were multi targeted with the exception of the aran (not sure if he was pre big bang). Most jobs couldn't than 1 mob at a time til job 3 which greatly slowed training.
i played before pirates release long time
i can agree that the game is better and more balanced now but the excperience and the joy of the old ms is gone now
no you level way to fast and the community is so unfriendly now.... and mesos are2nd worth anything
"If you go back far enough there wasn't even pirates."
If you go back further there weren't even thieves.
been playing since 2006, quit about 4 years ago and resorted to v83 private servers. i really think you did a awesome job on this video, seems like a lot of effort was put into it. you have some really good points, but when it comes to prebigbang vs bigbang EXP the change is waaaay too much. i think that yes, its good that leveling doesn't take years and years, but it is a little overboard. i think maple should still make it a wow factor when you see a level 200 or even a level 150, when i see one its nothing. they should of made the exp probably half of what it is now. anyway that's my thought on it, thanks for the awesome video!
Potential ruined the game PERIOD.
The Fox :(
Nexon really ruined Maplestory.
U should play classicms! Its a private server about the old ms, same private server he used to get that footage
There's also MapleGlobal for people that prefer vanilla rates (1/1/1) and also they are progressing from v0.01 through a later version.
MapleRoyals are also a good private server for OS Maplestory. It's all based on 0.62v
Got to be honest, I agree with a lot of what you said.
I miss the pathway from Henesys to Kerning City. I have the most memory just walking from Henesys to Kerning forcing myself not to use the taxi. (The BGM was amazing and it was nostalgic)
I so much miss maplestory it was so much better before big-bang.
ClassicMS dot org
It's v.62
I'm trying to recruit as many people as possible, because right now you have to use smegas (which u can get by voting) to find people for KPQ.
I could not agree more. Except I wished that leveling was not so easy after Level 100-120 ish. I can easy gain 5 levels a day. On my PreBigBang guy. I almost could not level pass level 24 because of the Jr. Necki, no one could be them. I played from 2006-2008, 2010-2011. and now 2014
Man I really miss the old Maplestory. :(
The changes made were necessary to keep the game fresh.
I was really pissed with the way they down sized the maps in Maplestory in Big Bang.
There is literally no exploration in the game anymore.
wow i remember training in slime tree for months, maybe even years...
good memories...
It's so easy to follow and explain, thank you.
i plan on releasing more short episodes on more things i missed.
community and teamwork was much more prominent in pre big bang as well. good times, time flies.
Wow thanks! i'll be doing BB versus Pre BB shorts for other topics in the future
Thank you for this video, man.
I'm playing since the beta and I miss old maplestory alot. :3
play ClassicMS! It's v 62, and really much fun
august vctjuh where can you play the old version ?
I haven't played since 2008 and I'm thinking about jumping back on again
i did the same. got deeply disappointed.
lol I thought its a new video than I realized ist from 2013 xD
Third job = getting that crystal. That's the only thing I remembered about third job.
My issue with the game today is that it has absolutely no challenge to it
All of the classes except the original adventurers are so fucking op they kill everything like 1 hit
The second thing I hate is the story lines because maplestory was originally very immersive and about your story, but now its about some heroes story and they force you to do all the story quest
I don't care about the character story I just want to play the game my way, Its your story after all (so they say on there homepage)
To me back then, it took me a year to get to lvl 30.
man...i just love this video... miss good old days ='(
that would be why. the new youtube layout take a portion of my banner for phones. on computers it's wider.
i had a level 70 dualblade...and although achievement back then its jst now pretty much useless
and i feel like ive wasted so much time and i quit the game...
anyone else did that?
No problem. :O
Just a random tidbit. My favorite Hidden-Street was in the split path under Pig Beach. It was in one of the pits corners. (There were two pits)
If you pressed up to the right of one of them (Pretty sure it was the one on the left) it'd send you to this looooooooong map that had several different monsters that was great for Warrior training.
i remember... it was soooooooooooooo long ago. i remember the very old training camp with that apple suit. i remember when it took FOREVER to level. the highest ive ever gotten was like lv 48 before i took a long break and came back after the big bang.
mages and resistance maple 101 are kinda on hold. i have to make a few video for hidden street. i'll make sure to get them out before they're released though
I think they should do like Runescape, They made another server called old school runescape so old players will come back .
Very true. i'm going to be talking about things i missed in future episodes.
when i first talk about the experience thats the subway cart to kerning square. the comparison training was Park from neo city
i remember how much it sucked back then, i started playing when the pirate cygnus knights had just come out, and it took a while just to get to 30, not to metion 3rd and 4th job, now i can get to 3rd job easily in just 1 day, much much faster then it was before big bang, and it made the game alot more fun cause u didnt feel like u were wasteing ur time
When I reached level 70 back in the day, I thought I was just fucking legendary.
I'm going to making big bang versus prebig bang shorts where i talk about stuff i missed. =P
So nostalgic! I joined in Mardia release, and this brought back so many memories from 5th grade. Thanks for making this.
Mardia gang rise up! (I know this comment is 9 years old)
I completely agree with your Victoria Island point,
and I also completely agree with your monster/damage point.
As for the experience part, I think it should be easier than pre-Big Bang but harder than post-Unlimited.
back then getting to 40 took forever and it was annoying to get there and be as weak as a lvl 20
Dont forget the famous maya quest that gave you a bamboo hat
makes me remember that smuggling passes for ludi pq is a god damn skill.
Sad life
ANSWER ME THIS! do maple shields still exist? if so, what monster drops them also where can i get a maple bandana?
i don't know if im answering your questions correctly but i'll try. the damage was revamped for all classes. most i ever hit on my hermit was like 8k way back then at lvl 105. Most classes hit that way before that level and with more consecutive hits.
Oh yeah, I remember one time my friend and I made that mistake but luckily we got a high level guy to escort us out.
I just returned in January 2012, and have 8 4th jobs :P I like, just how you said, I can now experience all of the classes to the fullest :D Great video!
i think maple just need a balance in pre big bang and now combined
+ElShoneli my mans you look like michael cera
Temple of Time existed prebigbang o_o I remember when it came out.
ahhh the memories of pre big bang
Hi! I just started the game 2 days ago and wanted to know if there was other changes between pre and after big bang? (Because I've read something about crafting somewhere?)
I remember "
Big Bang broke the game and Nexon is making it worse day by day 😂😂😂
politepancake so true wow dude after reboot this game more shit then ever
-ccpls
-no, i wont , the channels r full
- i dont want to ks u -_-
-Try it.
*START THE REALLY FIGHT*
i plan on releasing a new video soon explaining my thoughts on this
Also I remember training with my friend Kyle at zombie mushrooms in the dungeon. We both got to level 37 and such. I also remember stalking this Evan (he was my hero) named XQwertyyX
Brilliantly edited! Loved the facts you explored in the video!
The high levels mobs get decreased the amount of exp gained after killing it
You can say what you will, in my mind everything about the old maplestory was perfect FOR ME. I can see why other individuals would quit the game very quickly though.
Man I miss the Hell out of it. and what you said about levels- I feel the exact opposite.
The fact that just lvl 70 was so hard made it so awesome to get there.
i miss the ant tunnel so much ;-;
Old but Gold :/ ! RIP old Maple :(
Do more of these! i love it! This really brings back good memories of when there was only 4 classes and 3rd job was godly :)!
If you want to play old maplestory, play MapleRoyals, just recently started, but its amazing :D
Also make the job adv. a little harder, not like finding the dark crystal and such but i mean make it harder to kill the boss and give him more defense.
big bang was the beginning of the end :(, all they probably had to do was make it just a little bit easier to level and more of a variety of PQ's..
Nah it was potential.
I like the new Maplestory better in every way except for Victoria Island and the hidden maps
Srsly please tell why, There is no way that pre big bang is worse I'm diamond 3 in league and I play it everyday but I would give up everything if pre big bang was released again
Engstruz
Leveling up was SO slow.
i had a lvl 120 aran with a 120 w.att polearm and i was considered a GOD. now everything fucked me over ._.
Now: lv200 in 19minutes
Is there a way to play the pre big bang maplestory? I really want to know how
Missing Old maple :(.
After they fucked up, I don't care as much anyway.
i believe its 5% miss chance
2018: level 10 to 200 in 19 mins
2016
Levels gained: 40
i think they should just take the exp gained and lvling as it is now leave it and make every monster WAY STRONGER. then it'll make it easy to lvl while making it a little harder it's the best thing they could do at this point. it would make the game great again and it would bring back party training that was the best part of old ms well one best part it was so fun back then now it's all CC or KS back then if a kser walked in and you were in a party with other's they'd walk out.
I love this video, such nostalgia.
i have thought of something maple could do.
At lv 200 you need 1,1b to level, it was 2,2b to level before big bang, the exp went 50% of what you needed to 20% of what you needed to level
Awesome vid! Im happy so many ppl mis the old maple 2
i would like to know where you got your private server from. I want to experience more from old school, i only got to play 3-4 month of it right after DB came out.
So Nostalgic ;(
I remember when gamersoul was called w8baby
No, because monsters exp went to 50% of what they was giving, like the map with Black crow was giving like 3k and now 1,5k, but our damage went 1.5x to 3x of what it was before big bag also the exp, you need 10% to 50% of what you needded to level, at lv 200 you need 1,1b to level and before big bang 2,2b but at lv60 you need less than 250k and before you was needing over 1m so it's not only the exp tho(exp needed to level).
If one level in PBB is equal to 6 ABB levels, then level 200 in PBB is 1200 levels in ABB.
However i still enjoyed old maple exp rates. I think they should have compromised and made it about twice as fast, instead of like 8-9x as fast. There was a much larger feel of accomplishment.
i agree i like maplestory where it is at now but some changes where unneeded and ive been playing before pirates came out
Omg i miss the old maplestory D
Ah.. I remember those golems.. Amazing, went the wrong way, had to walk all the way to a city, got killed like 10 times in there xD
To put in retrospect, pre-big bang = WoW before Cataclysm
big bang = WoW after Cataclysm
