Painting our DIY Shutter kits is super easy. We recommend using your standard enamel spray paint found at any home improvement store (We never recommend the very cheapest paint). Here we are using a Rustoleum 2x.
We recommend painting your DIY Shutter Fully assembled.
The key to any aerosol painting project is to keep the nozzle around 6-8" from your shutter and to do several light even coats. DON'T TRY AND PAINT THE WHOLE SHUTTER IN ONE PASS. If you do get a little aggressive and get drips don't try and wipe them off, this will make a bigger mess. Let them dry and sand them with 300grit sand paper and then repaint.
Wait 20-30 minutes between coats.
ALWAYS PAINT IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA. WE RECOMMEND A FACE MASK AND SAFTEY GLASSES.

Not gonna lie...your touching of the wet paint to flip the louvers gave me anxiety! 😳😅
You don’t need to sand? Also what about it you are going from dark to light color. I have black shutters and want to change it to white.
Personal experience: a lot of the spray paints are primer and paint on one can. 2 or 3 coats with the same can of that type of paint works great for coverage and color. I'll reiterate what he says in the video: light coat, let dry, light coat, let dry, light coat, let dry. If you don't let the coats dry completely, you will end up with running paint that dries. That's where the sanding comes in which equals extra work. 🤦♀️ Yes...that was me face-palming myself because that is exactly what I had...running paint. Happy painting!!
Purchase 10 cans of the two works Rustoleum and White. What finish do you use? I didn’t bother looking for a finish and accidentally bought gloss. Do you satin?
Thanks for tip I’m thinking to paint my white ones black 🙏🏻
