His defense is always back and forth. When his defense is superb, his offense is non existent but when his defense is so so his bat makes up for it. He’s still in his mid 20s with so much more time to go. Stick with him. He’ll get it all together eventually
Adell is still clueless situationally. Him diving and missing the catch cost Marte the inning. The sensible play would be to field the bounce and hold Langeliers at third with the bottom of the lineup coming. Even if he had caught the fly ball, Langelier would still have gotten to third but with 2nd base empty, ripe for a SB that would remove double play options. Every decent outfielder will have a good sense of the odds of diving catches. Adell's dive is no where even close, and for him give up a run just to prove he's hustling is not clever. Adell has always had the brawn, but it is his brains that is often suspect. He's simply a high floor low ceiling guy.
@@pillowhead5689 What could be the explanation of him crashing into Gelof when he had a clear straight line base path from 1st to 2nd? That looks like another bonehead baserunning, unless he's given credit for having the smarts to prevent a double play, which is unlikely inconsistent with his track record of baserunning.
