fun fact in all the early play tests before the first "open beta" of skull and bones there was no stamina bar. Instead there was a morale system where you had to feed your crew or go back to port once in a while or your crew would cause a mutiny. It actually was a really fun system that forced you to pick your battles and although health slowly regenerated damage to your ship would also lower your max hp and morale. It added so many layers to the games core loop and systems that you actually felt that you were controlling a crew and not a ship. you wanted to hunt animals for better food for longer morale boosts. You wanted to avoid damage instead of just tanking it. You felt adrenaline when you just barely scrape an engagement, are out of food and had to rush back to shore to completely repair your ship and crew. the larger the ship the longer the morale took to drain but the less effective the food would be. I have no idea why they removed this system. Not only did it make moving across the map faster and more engaging, but it actually made the game feel like a complete product. also other fun fact. I still dont understand the pre-order thing, you are ordering a digital copy they are not going to run out of those, but well now the add the early access to make for it
You are correct that they are not going to actually run out of a digital item. That is why exclusives are the only real reason people preorder anymore. Instead of FOMO for owning a physical copy that may go on sale later or may become hard to find, its now FOMO for digital assets that they will make inaccessible to anyone who didn't preorder. Before digital copies, the exclusives were merely an incentive to not wait til the actual release for a game that you were gonna buy anyway.
for some ubi positivity, I love the bleakness of Far Cry 2, where you're not a super hero but it's not a fuck you sim either, everyone is fair game in it and I grinded the fuck out of The Crew before it got shut down because I genuinely liked the game, Ubi was giving out free games on some holiday (most likely a christmass) and The Crew came with it, tbh I wouldn't have grinded it to the point I did if I knew it was gonna shut down cuz I don't like boating nor flying so The Crew 2 wasn't a justifiable purchase for me

I had not preordered a game since 2011 after Dragon Age 2 was such a huge disappointment compared to Origins. However I did preorder a game for the first time since then just a couple months back with Unicorn Overlord. After tying that demo I loved it, and the game was fantastic. But it at least had a substantial demo that let you play the full game pretty much for a generous amount of hours.
I leave out the retailer-specific versions on purpose, but sometimes I'll mention one here and there. Absolutely agreed though, Ubisoft doesn't seem to be self aware of their status as the McDonald's of single player games
I only pre-ordered a single game, endless dungeon. At launch the console version was v0.17 or something and had a bug where improperly closing the game could delete your save. They sure showed me
Credit where due… Prince of Persia The Lost Crown is an outstanding video game and was on day one. However… I did not commit to it until after it released and I knew from the reviews that it was safe and solid… not bugged or monetized to death. I got it on day one. I got the outfit cosmetic as well that came with it. I played it the same day people that preordered six months prior did. And I would highly recommend buying it - and also not preordering because it accomplishes next to nothing for you.
lol. Joke's on Ubisoft: I've never bought any of their games, and I won't as long as they continue their BS. X'D And these companies wonder why we don't trust them anymore... X'P
I don't buy ubisoft games anymore. Also if I buy a game and it has the Ubisoft User interface 9/10 the game is not going to live up to it's potential. Dying Light 2 was supposed to be another "one of the greatest games ever made" and it doesn't even come close to the original. I"m glad E3 is dead, I'm realizing it was just "false advertising: the expo"
"E3 was just False Advertising: The Expo" - The sad part is? You're pretty much right. LMAO. Except for Nintendo. At least to my knowledge, they never lied.
I'm surprised they don't have separate special editions for pages 1-23 of the Art Book and another for pages 27-50. Pages 24-26 come with the Starbucks edition.
Mario + Rabbids is the only thing from Ubisoft I’ve recently been interested in. Haven’t tried the second game in the series’s but I’m looking forward to giving it a go sometime!
What's funny to me is that screen near the end showing $70 for buggy, broken, incomplete game or $20 for finished, fixed, and completed game - that is true EVEN for good games at launch. There's literally no reason to preorder a game, good or bad, finished or incomplete, polished or buggy. You can almost always get any game much cheaper just a few days to a few weeks after it's launch. ESPECIALLY in our new stream/subscription service era of gaming where Xbox and PlayStation throw free games at people for a few dollars a month. It's a sucker punch to the gut to pay $60 or $70 (or more if you're a smooth brain) only to see it be given away for free a month or two later. You're just paying for the immediate gratification AND a buggy, unfinished game. Laughable. The industry is a joke and so are many, many, many of its consumers.
After all these years of scammy monetization tactics, isn't it telling that precisely the "MONETIZATION DIRECTOR" at Ubisoft will come out online playing the victim and blaming players for hating the company?
XDefiant, the so-called "Call of Duty killer", was praised by many former CoD fans because it was free and communication with the devs was transparent. And I can't trample them for that, but what many people seem to ignore is that XDefiants parent company is Ubisoft, and for that I was concerned. It'll only be a matter of time before a Ubisoft higher up decides to flip a switch nobody wanted them to flip, and ruin their f2p game altogether.
The only Ubisoft game I ever preordered is Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (Gold Edition) (I'm a veteran of the Mario RPGs by the way). And that's it. And not gonna lie, I would rather replay Paper Mario Sticker Star 100% a 2nd time than preorder another non Mario + Rabbids RPG game from Ubisoft
Hi The Kingred. The best game from You be soft ;) is Beyond good and evil. Yes it was the time without U-play, and after they gave us this Abomination i stopped buying You be Soft-games. And yes i will shit on "erectile dysfunction games" till i die. Have a nice day and keep the good work up. P.S.: Far cry 2 was a shitshow too, and people can play "bad games" (because most of them are bad in my opinion playing about 43 years) but they have to know this and not to praise them: like shit but know it's shit ;)
Meanwhile, weirdos like me look at it like this.... 17.99, sub then unsub, one month to test a game out for basically 20 bucks... I'm excited for SW:Outlaws... But Preordering is stupid. Rather abuse the subscription service or pirate a game to test it out first. If it's good, I'll pay full standard price. If not, I saved money. Git Gud.
Something positive from Ubisoft... hmm.... Original Settlers for Amiga 500 and my all time favorite MC, Kassandra from AC Odyssey. That's it. No more positive.
The amount of money these editions costs is equivalent to many older top of the line games that have been patched, and content added to. At sale many are under $10. You can even get a bundled deal for less than one of these brand new editions. As for multiplayer, if a game is actually worthwhile it will continue to have a playerbase once it's cheaper. I don't have any of these games 😄🥳 Ubisoft hasn't made anything worthwhile in ages.
after Watch Dogs pretty much every big corporation, including ubi, did the same thing, some few times... and nothing changed, sheeple still preorders. So... its gamers own fault and gamers deserve such treatment, 100%, gamers ask for it. So ofc things are much worse now than 10 years ago, why wouldnt they be worse? Corporations only care about money, they gonna make money with as little investment as possible, nothing wrong with it, business is about profit. Also why even go this far, 2014? Lol... look at 2077 and cdpr, how much they lied, basically misrepresented entire game... 4 years later and look, people love them. Im glad at least investors did not forgot what they did and cdpr stock prices did not went back. So when their next game is going to be like 2077 or worse, dont cry and ask how could this happened with such "great" corporation as cdpr.

Ubisoft is french... But yeah, damn Capcom could get starwars license if they handled the toxic relationship a bit more... But star wars is dead since they added resurrection to the formula
I didn't even like Star Wars when it was "good" so that won't be an issue, but add Disney and Ubisoft to the equation and you've basically got a giant turd sandwiched in between two pieces of woke bread. Easy pass.
we all know the true reason why, and no it's not woke, it's not the bad gameplay, and no it's not the live service and microtransactions, the true reason why is because ubisoft is french.
Talking about games with bad launches Fallout New Vegas wasn’t playable when it came out. I got it day one and took that shit back to the store. I got it years later and the game still didn’t work. I got on my pc this year and couldn’t get it running. It just happened to work a week or two ago by chance. And mf alway let that shit slide.
I learned back from Total War Rome 2. I never pre ordered again. If possible demo, but always watch some streamer for a bit and some reviews. People who pre order are at least 30% of the problem with modern gaming. All it does is reward this garbage behavior. The same with excessive monetization, ever time some dude bro buys a fifa ultimate team pack the gaming word gets a little worse.

A surprise to be sure, and an unwelcome one
I deadass ordered a new cpu 14900k and it came with a pre order of Star Wars outlaws 💀💀💀💀
Don't forget Ubisoft+, the most pointless subscription 😂
I really hope that shit hasn't made any serious bank. 😮💨
I still dont understand the pre-order thing, you are ordering a digital copy they are not going to run out of those, but well now the add the early access to make for it
I just like to plan everything ahead of time so preordering makes sense for me. but I get most people aren't like that
You are correct that they are not going to actually run out of a digital item.
Didn't except a Kingpin reference. Easily one of my favorite and most nostalgic comedies ever
Had me cackling at my monitor 😂 great movie
Hmmm yes I see and concur
for some ubi positivity, I love the bleakness of Far Cry 2, where you're not a super hero but it's not a fuck you sim either, everyone is fair game in it and I grinded the fuck out of The Crew before it got shut down because I genuinely liked the game, Ubi was giving out free games on some holiday (most likely a christmass) and The Crew came with it, tbh I wouldn't have grinded it to the point I did if I knew it was gonna shut down cuz I don't like boating nor flying so The Crew 2 wasn't a justifiable purchase for me
Far cry 2 was great, even though I didn’t play it til waaaay later. And yeah I don’t see how anyone could feel confident after the crew debacle
@@TheKingerd I didn't play it either until 2 years ago, youtuber Face full of eyes made a video talking about it and it's what convinced me to play it in the first place, grabbed it next sale and never regretted it
as a Star Wars fan I am obligated to play Far Cry: Star Wars...I can wait for sale though, shouldn't take too long.
Right on both accounts: far cry Star Wars and a quick discount no doubt 😂
The only game I would ever pre-order is Fallout Tactics, it came with a table top mini game, bonus disc with missions, a camo bag and a T-shirt. Of course this was back when it was Interplay and not Bethesda.
You make amazing content, mate. Keep it up. I'm sure your channel will blow up in popularity eventually!
I think i had kingkong for the gamecube what a banger it was if only 6year old me understood English back then😂
Fun fact It was Frist action game to not have health bar
Skull N’ Bones was terrific marketing for Sea Of Thieves…
Funny how that works sometimes.
Both Sea of Thieves and Black Flag were sitting pretty after it dropped 😂 I love it
Regards to Skull and Bones deal with Singapore, this is a very plausible thing. The Singapore Government often does this to attempt to get locals to learn the expertise from overseas so that it can build its own version of the industry on its own. It has done this for numerous other industries in the past. This includes things like defence (ST Engineering with James Sullivan) or Semiconductors. Source: I am a Singaporean.
Ah yes, Ubisoft, a favourite for lobotomized gamers to throw all their money away on them.
18:15 Gigavirgin on the right
another great vid good job man
Ubisoft is like combining the sandwiches of Burger King-Arby’s into a big ol’ 💩 pile.
still cant believe that e3 is dead.
Big sad. I tuned in every year
it's good that it died before they started shoveing woke stuff into it like drag queen hour .. or did they actually do that
You know, unironically I like drag queen shows... But it is like saying I like coffee and sardine tacos, but I would never dunk a sardine taco in my coffee because that would ruin my coffee forever. There's a place for everything, drag queen shows have nothing to do with videogames
@@solouno2280 i have seen a few tv shows but they come off as more comedic than educational to help understand something
@@creatorsfreedom6734 that's the point, Drag queen shows are SHOWS, they're made for entertainment, not for teaching or preaching
Played Watch dogs 2 demo - then i bought the full game 2017 > 6 hours in watch dogs 2 i got a pop up kicking me out of the game ( thank you for playing the trial period of this game please think about purchasing the full game ) - I'm Done with THEE Current UBISOFT let them have a slow De**h
We had it good when we got demos regularly didn’t we
You’re forgetting all the ubistore exclusive editions too. Those were super pricey
I leave out the retailer-specific versions on purpose, but sometimes I'll mention one here and there. Absolutely agreed though, Ubisoft doesn't seem to be self aware of their status as the McDonald's of single player games
I really like thee recent Rayman games which are 10 plus years old now
Looking forward to Black Myth and Pragmata, that's it.
The fact that there continues to be many pre-order editions shows that people are still pre-ordering games
I only pre-ordered a single game, endless dungeon. At launch the console version was v0.17 or something and had a bug where improperly closing the game could delete your save. They sure showed me
Numbers 1-4 It's a Ubisoft game.
😂😂😂😂 total video time 4 seconds
Yep, I remember Watchdog 2, started the tutorial fell through a wall, was trapped and deinstalled. Lucky me got it for free from Epic.
I used to love ubi games, now I only buy on sale and barely play the games.
This is the way. Rewarding a good game with your money and still getting to play it yourself day one. Everyone wins
I bought ac mirage for half price and still felt scammed
Positive Ubisoft moments: The Game Grumps play A LOT of Wheel of Fortune. It’s been my favourite series.
I only buy games one year after their release when they go on sale, usually with gigantic DLC Packs underneath the initial price.
Love you Kingerd ❤
Splinter Cell had some tremendous games
Conviction was my favourite entry
I'm surprised they don't have separate special editions for pages 1-23 of the Art Book and another for pages 27-50. Pages 24-26 come with the Starbucks edition.
I know this is parody yet it still feels like exactly something we could see
ever since ubisoft exec said that i need to get comfortable with not owning games, i got comfortable with not paying for ubisoft games
I hope all the Division players braced for PVP.
Mario + Rabbids is the only thing from Ubisoft I’ve recently been interested in. Haven’t tried the second game in the series’s but I’m looking forward to giving it a go sometime!
One day Ubi will bring back a modern and expanded Spies vs. Mercs multiplayer game and then I'd buy one of their games again.
Another classic!
Thank you 🤝🤙🏻
Everything you talked about reminds me of the Anthem demo 🤣
Nah, nah, nah. It's not yoo-bi.
It;s EWW-bi-soft.
😂😂😂 I gave up on consistency like two minutes into filming this haha
@@TheKingerd Mocking the company, not your consistancy. :D
Mario plus rabbids is really good. Both of them
What's funny to me is that screen near the end showing $70 for buggy, broken, incomplete game or $20 for finished, fixed, and completed game - that is true EVEN for good games at launch.
No preorders means no fixing
Great video. But honest question- Am i the only one that HATED the stupid sea shanties?
Honestly, i loved the division 1 nd 2, and played the hell out of both them.
Better to treat all companies the same. It's silly to place blind faith into a single source. Games are games, and quality is all over the place.
After all these years of scammy monetization tactics, isn't it telling that precisely the "MONETIZATION DIRECTOR" at Ubisoft will come out online playing the victim and blaming players for hating the company?
How many of you pre-ordered Elden Boring's DLC?
I'm still gonna keep preordering their games it's my money that I work for
XDefiant, the so-called "Call of Duty killer", was praised by many former CoD fans because it was free and communication with the devs was transparent. And I can't trample them for that, but what many people seem to ignore is that XDefiants parent company is Ubisoft, and for that I was concerned.
It'll only be a matter of time before a Ubisoft higher up decides to flip a switch nobody wanted them to flip, and ruin their f2p game altogether.
not only will i not be Pre-ordering .. i won't be ordering at all !!!
Im actually fan of Ubisoft games
Fenxy rising prince of Persia Valhalla have been fav games of this gen
Wait 1 year after the release = game is fixed and patched.
Watchdogs 1 was unplayable at launch
The only Ubisoft game I ever preordered is Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (Gold Edition) (I'm a veteran of the Mario RPGs by the way). And that's it.
And not gonna lie, I would rather replay Paper Mario Sticker Star 100% a 2nd time than preorder another non Mario + Rabbids RPG game from Ubisoft
For honor is still one of my favorite games of all time.
First Ubisoft game was assassins creed 1 last Ubisoft game was watch dogs. Unity almost got me lol
You have almost 29K subscribers, but only 576 likes on a 1 month old review. Hello nimrods, wake up and press that like button, sheesh!
I pre-ordered Assassin's Creed Shadows when i was halfway through the Cinematic trailer. Why do you ask ? Because Assassin's Creed never let me down.
Why would I pre-order a 17$ game I will play only once in a week and never touch it again?
They design the best maps(environment). And then they apply boring shallow gameplay in it.
Positive Ubisoft comment:
Rayman Origins and Legends
Too bad Ubi hates these games
Meanwhile, weirdos like me look at it like this.... 17.99, sub then unsub, one month to test a game out for basically 20 bucks...
I'm excited for SW:Outlaws... But Preordering is stupid. Rather abuse the subscription service or pirate a game to test it out first. If it's good, I'll pay full standard price. If not, I saved money. Git Gud.
Something positive from Ubisoft... hmm.... Original Settlers for Amiga 500 and my all time favorite MC, Kassandra from AC Odyssey. That's it. No more positive.
I mean if they would just ripped out the pirate part of Black Flag and sold the game for like 15 bucks with multiplayer it would have been better
Already did
The amount of money these editions costs is equivalent to many older top of the line games that have been patched, and content added to.
“Don’t tell me what to do”
4 years later: “why are all games launching unfinished 😨”
They released a complete edition of watchdogs with all dlc in just before watch dogs 2 came out .
The only watch dogs game i was unhappy with was legion that was terrible game
DONT PREORDER ANY GAMES.
Ubisoft is french... But yeah, damn Capcom could get starwars license if they handled the toxic relationship a bit more... But star wars is dead since they added resurrection to the formula
tbch no game should be pre-ordered
I don't buy, let alone pre-order mediocre games.
My standards are way too high for anything Ubisoft makes today, or has made this past decade.
Prince of Persia and the Mario & Rabbids games were good.
So you made this video before AC Shadows huh
I didn't even like Star Wars when it was "good" so that won't be an issue, but add Disney and Ubisoft to the equation and you've basically got a giant turd sandwiched in between two pieces of woke bread. Easy pass.
we all know the true reason why, and no it's not woke, it's not the bad gameplay, and no it's not the live service and microtransactions, the true reason why is because ubisoft is french.
5 de mayo was yesterday... Coincidence? I think not! France lose again
More like…
outlaw Star Wars
Uh? Uh?
Man, I’m wasted on you people.
Talking about games with bad launches Fallout New Vegas wasn’t playable when it came out. I got it day one and took that shit back to the store. I got it years later and the game still didn’t work. I got on my pc this year and couldn’t get it running. It just happened to work a week or two ago by chance. And mf alway let that shit slide.
the youing ones forget killzone 2 e3
I learned back from Total War Rome 2. I never pre ordered again. If possible demo, but always watch some streamer for a bit and some reviews. People who pre order are at least 30% of the problem with modern gaming. All it does is reward this garbage behavior. The same with excessive monetization, ever time some dude bro buys a fifa ultimate team pack the gaming word gets a little worse.
U re ridiculous ubisoft great games with a big variety. It is the number one studio in terms of variety
i dont pre order games because i dont have current gen consoles,
Division 2
Update... i was able to thumbs up... yaaayyy... I want to thumbs up this video, but it will make it 666 thumbs ups... I'll check back later next week and thumbs up it. Also Ubisoft = Garbage..... I wont be pre or post ordering.
it’s the thought that counts 😂
